it is the gun for me! but sadly about 30 years too late. the 7 x 57 is my all time favorite, but i can live with the 7-08. your reviews are always on point and highly enjoyable--i watch many over again!
P.O. Ackley made me rifle for graduation. It’s 7x57 Mauser. I grew up next to him in Utah. He told me the .275 Rigby/7x57 Mauser was Karamojo Bell’s favorite round.
Excellent review. I have m. 1908 Mannlicher Schoenauer 7x57 stutzen with claw mounted 1.5-5 Leupold. It was re-barrelled by Detrich Apel (R.I.P.) in 1990's. Very accurate, bolt does not cycle so easily as Mauser, but that ol' M/S smooth-as-butter. The way you cycle that Rigby beats my Mannlicher, makes me want one. By the way, .275 or 7x57: Grizzly (though NOT to hunt coastal Brownies in coastal bush) but worked on inland grizzly one shot..down one more shot, (always). moose, elk, mulies...all fall with proper loads and moderate (say under 300 yds) distance. 7x57 with 140 gr---sheep and goat. I love caliber...my Mann-Schoen. has 19" bbl. I would order Highland Stalker (if I could) 25" bbl, steel checkered buttplate and I find, most of my hunting here in Alaska can be done within 200 yds or much less--except possibly goats & trophy sheep. Man I am big on that .257 (7x57) and thank Rigby for bringing it back. AND I THHANK YOU FOR YOUR PRESENTATION ON YOU TUBE!
I have a couple of 7x57 custom built rifles. One uses a 93 Spanish Mauser action with the square bottom bolt and the other which is stamped 275 Rigby uses a Ruger M77 action. The 7x57 is a custom barrel built at the Trinidad State College gunsmith school by my father and the other is a Shilen barrel. I've owned many different caliber rifles but I'll never be without a 7x57.
Beautiful rifle. Action looks smooth and walnut stock is beautiful. Nice round. Thanks for sharing. I think the round is light recoiling from viewing and cannot imagine using on a tiger that weighs 300+ pounds with a 140 grain bullet; even upto 160 grain. Corbet had balls of steel.
If I suddenly came into the possession of a considerable amount of excess money, this would be one of my first purchases. Beautiful rifle. Thanks for the review
Late to the party but yes Rigby HS is an exceptionally beautiful rifle. For roughly 10k it seems pricey but you are getting a life long companion that only gets nicer with age and care. I'm a proud owner of a Mauser Oberndorf sporter in 9x57 from the 20s. Best wishes and very envious of you friend!
Nostalgia comes at a hefty price. Looks like I will have to stick to my sorry old Pre64 Winchester Model 70 in 270 caliber for the time being. I'm so unlucky.
As far as mounting optics go, that defeats the purpose of having a beautiful classic rifle. I've got a Winchester Model 70 in 7x57 and it's a great rifle but if I do score the Lottery, I'll be ordering one of these!
£6500 to have a fully bedded rifle with a sling hanging off the barrel screwing with consistancy with dubious ergonomics, no innovation since the turn of the century no antique value or provenance. It's just a sloppy old piece of rehashed tat, not even the wood is worth having. That blank I could get for £200-250 and build the entire rifle for 2k max. So where's the rest of the 6.5k gone.....huh.....huh....shameful profiteering.

Jim Corbet also liked the 7x57 for dangerous tigers.

That is such a beautiful gun.... Would love to have one sitting on my gun rack ❤👍 Love the finish on it!
if i had money, this is what i would buy, it's perfect!
Gorgeous Rifle thanks for showing it.
What a wonderful work of art. Wish I'd bought won before I retired - when I could afford it.

Good enough for Jim Corbett, good enough for me.
Yep a really nice and classic piece, I'd love one but the price is just too much for me!
Rick, if you are thinking about a Christmas present for me this Christmas, one like this would do quite nicely lol
Don't think those mounts are Optilock which are proprietary under the Sako group.
Nice rifle :)
Peter thanks for sharing. How did you find the cheek weld using a scope?
More importantly. How accurate is it?

Did you miss the threading?
It's 2021 and the price is now $10,900 USD

Paul, your 7x57 depending upon condition is worth about $6000. I personally think it is just as good as the subject gun in this video.
Couldn't agree with you more about the optics!
Nothing wrong about mounting a scope on a classic rifle.
How much in euro........please
When did Mauser switch from the flag safety to the "Winchester style" safety?
English rifles are the best in the world 💘💘💘WWW ENGLAND
With any Mauser action, I affectionately use the “mauser shuck.” Run that bolt like you mean it.
Rigby is making a lot of money!!!!!
I wish that they make one in .22 hornet.
Subtitle in italian too, please
But not in left hand.
रिजवी कंपनी 22 bore Banduk banati Hai Barati Hai To Hamen Jankari De Mujhe 22 बोर बंदूक चाहिए धन्यवाद
$11,000 for that rifle. I'll pass.
Fine rifle you have there, but a Pre64 Winchester Model 70 in 270win for about $1500 would suffice.
4 round magazine? How disappointing.
Learn to hit the target with the first shot.
6000 £ not for the working man
