  • What could be a more fitting tribute to John Rigby & Co.’s recently unveiled Highland Stalker rifle, than an event celebrating its launch in the heart of the Highlands - the holy grail for British hunting?
Rigby invited top international dealers and sporting journalists to join them in celebrating this iconic rifle at the historic Blair Atholl Estate in Perthshire. Following a tour of the Rigby showroom in London, guests made their way to Euston Station where they boarded the Highland Sleeper train, echoing the Victorian era. After a nip of Rigby whisky and a tale or two from “John Macnab”, guests awoke to the sound of bagpipes as the train rolled into the station.
Ready to transport the weary passengers to their shooting lodges, a fleet of Rigby-branded Land Rovers were ready waiting. After a quick freshen-up, it wasn’t long before the stalking party headed for the hills accompanied by Highland Stalker, garron and ghillie.
Watch the video to hear how everyone faired, learn about their experiences and immerse yourself in the hunt.
Hailed as a traditional deerstalking rifle, the new Highland Stalker is inspired by the same smaller calibre rifles Rigby produced at the turn of the 20th century that were used by iconic British adventurers such as Karamojo Bell and Jim Corbett. Rigby regards the Scottish Highlands as the birthplace of stalking and the title befitting the rifle.

A first class film, focussing on a first class rifle made by a first class company - what more could anyone ask for?
The .275 HV (7x57mm) Rigby will always be the classical cartridge for The Hill - Tradition and just as it should be.
Over 30 years of the Hill, the undoubted relief at a clean shot and taken in during those moments before the gralloch and before the pony arrives - - and never to tire of it.

@@adamchristo3082 when the Sling is wrapped for stability it will, I have done it in experimentation to prove this point emphatically to others in the trade who hold your current view. If it were not a matter of welfare I would not care a jot, but it is incumbent upon all who take game to make every effort to do so cleanly every time. This is one risk element that can be excluded from the process before the rifle even exits the factory.

Greetings from Australia...nice vid and all but I have to ask...in SO many stalking vids I see one rifle shared amongst a group of people...why? Here in Oz there would be as much chance of sharing your rifle as sharing your wife / husband / girlfriend / boyfriend! Surely these people are not so clumsy / stupid that they can't be trusted to bring along and use their own firearm? I know that this showcases the release of a new rifle but all these stalking vids are the same...one bloke carrying the rifle and handing over to the shooter when the time comes to let a round go. Not sure what anyone else thinks but to me it's a bit insulting really.

I would love to own a Rigby. Not for the social status or as a trophy possession but because it will be made by a fellow craftsman. I am sure that the guy’s on the shop floor who actually make my gun will be payed the same piss poor wages I always earned while their boss swans around on the moors with his wealthy connected friends.
But no matter. My grandfather owned to Purdey’s for the same reason and he was a damn sight better shot than the monkeys who trot around in Range Rovers.
Those Purdey shotguns were his one indulgence and he made his own magnificent mahogany cabinet to house them.
Having made a full set of Chippendale walnut dining chairs for a customer on one occasion I took the infernal liberty of making a few for myself too. Eyebrows were raised but Fuck ‘em, why should the inbreds get all the high Q stuff to themselves ?
No man appreciates high quality more than the guys who actually make it. We may be few in number and treated like fools but our signature lasts longer than the name they engrave on the Barrel. Cheers.

@edwin mason I think they still exist but are owned by L&O holding. They operate from London. L&O own's Mauser also so that makes sense as Rigby uses Mauser actions. What I don't get is why some hunters are attracted by those guns. Basically it's an outdated Mauser action with a bit of a fancy stock isn't it? There was so much produced with much smoother actions for way more reasonable pricing in the past.

Great promo Rigby, excellent rifles. Tradition’s are great, not many people can enjoy these due to cost. As an American who has hunted big and small game all over the US You go to hunt, to hunt it what you put into it, the people who you encounter, and get out of it to make it better and memorable.
