    I have a Paslode air 1.5hp air nailer with a Rol-Air compressor. This summer the compressor would start slow and pop the circuit breaker. I replaced the start-up/run capacitor and it fixed the problem. However two months ago it started doing the same thing again. I tried everything and almost threw it away till I found your video and you stated it could be the extension cord being too long so I tried compressor without my 100 ft extension cord and that fixed my issue. Couldn't believe that a voltage drop from the cord would cause that problem. I tried some heavier gauge cords that were shorter and they also worked! Thanks for the video and useful and less obvious tips!

      Me too. Winter work, kept popping the breaker, running very slow then dying or maybe a little faster. Watched this and put in a shorter heavier extension cord and bam it's working perfectly.

    Thank you! I had a leak under my pressure switch after air filled in tank. Tested the none return valve like you said, I replaced the none return valve and now my compressor is up and running.

    My compressor starts fine after a few minutes of running it will stop and won't start again. If I then leave it for about 30 minutes it will start again. I suspect the pressure switch but I haven't changed it yet. Has anybody got any ideas? please.

    Also, check the reduction valve. Sometimes that rubber seal needs some red rubber grease to help it seal. All part of a valve service I guess.

    Just bought one today but there is air leaking from the non return valve straight out of the box. Washer and spring look ok, why is this? Luckily the store is local for a replacement, just curious why this should be happening.

    The plastic pressure line from the non return valve to the pressure switch is leaking where it goes into the pressure switch/reg body, how am I best to remove the line at this end?

    My compressor starts working and builds pressure up to 150psi but sometimes during work it will not start and won't keep tank charged. Sometimes it turns on only for a few seconds then goes quiet. Sometimes I hears something that it wants to start like air going somewhere through the pipe for about 2 second and then quiets and stays like that. Fails to keep up pressure in tank when I use it. Pressure goes low as 50psi but compressor doesn't start. Then I had to open drain valve to release remaining air pressure in the tank. Disconnect it from AC power for few minutes and it starts working again build up to 150psi again. I don't hear any air leaks. What could be wrong??

  • @DH-mf2lv

    I inherited my Dad's 2 HP 17 Liter air compressor. He used it for his nail gun. It never shuts off. Once the PSI gets to around 125 PSI, the relief valve opens and stays open until the psi reduces to 90 psi. At that time the relief valve closes and the pressure begins to rise til it gets back to 125 psi and then the relief valve opens again. Of course all this occurs while the nail gun is not being used. I sure wish my Dad was still here! Is this normal? I would appreciate a response. Thanks

      Did you ever get the problem of the lift valve opening on your compressor? If not, you should try adjusting the pressure switch to get the compressor to shut off at maybe 115 psi.

    I have a pos fini airattack. 1.5 horse power. Air was coming out of the air intake. Damn reeds were riveted into the valve plate. My question is can the high pressure reed cause air to come out the air intake. Im positive my low pressure reed is good but still have some air coming out the intake. This fini is a giant piece of crap. Cant even get them to email me back. Ridiculous

    Hello, my sealey SAE5030VE will not build much pressure and will continue to run.
    Initially I suspected head gasket.
    Momentarily after switching it off, I can hear air escaping from around one of the cylinder heads.
    Also the relief valve stays open presumably due to the compressor not building enough to close the valve? Any help?

    • @michaelparker-smith8773
      @michaelparker-smith8773 3 роки тому

      Sorry, forgot to mention I replaced the relief valve with a bolt of the same thread to help me find the leak 👍

    • @michaelparker-smith8773
      @michaelparker-smith8773 3 роки тому

      Okay, so the noise I was hearing was the breather hole in the oil filler

    • @sealeytools
      @sealeytools  3 роки тому

      Hi Michael,
      firstly replace the pressure relief valve with some thread seal.
      Have you ensured the condensate value is tightened underneath the tank? If that is ok, it's most likely down to a valve plate in the cylinder head thats not closing which will prevent the compressor form building up pressure. If this is the case it will need to come back to Sealey to be repaired.
      Please contact our technical department on 01284 757505 to arrange this. Depending on the age of the compressor this will most likely be free of charge.

    • @michaelparker-smith8773
      @michaelparker-smith8773 3 роки тому

      Ok, replaced PRV with some PTFE tape, and is now closing under pumping pressure, however tank pressure remains maximum 20psi.
      I would guess the flapper valves are knackered due to there being no evidence of ever having air filters fitted before I started my job here, where it's situated.

    I get my tank up to 120psi. When i begin to use any tool the performance drops radically. I decided to add a gauge right before my tool to see what was happening. Starting pressure of say a 90PSI tool will drop down 10 PSI every 5-10 seconds until it gets to say 50PSI and the tool becomes useless. I have checked for leaks, replaced fittings and used new hoses and cannot find anything. Could my pressure switch or regulator be the cause? what else could be causing this.(my tank is around a 15-20 Gallon)

    • @sealeytools
      @sealeytools  5 років тому

      Hi Derek,This could be caused by your tools needing a large amount of air ( CFM ) to function properly. This would result in the air in your tank being used very quickly. Typically, the compressor pump would start running to compensate for the loss of air very soon after starting to use the tool. The only solution to this would be to either buying a much compressor capable of running the tools you're using, or purchasing tools suitable for the size of compressor you own. I hope that makes sense?

    • @sealeytools
      @sealeytools  5 років тому +1

      Also, have you checked that any condensation in the tank has been drained off? we've had instances of compressors that haven't been drained containing gallons of water. This has the effect of massively reducing the air capacity of the thanksMatt
