Watching them move around I was thinking that maybe this company has another robot that could go out during the winter months and clear the path of light to moderate snow and in the non winter months periodically clear the path of loose gravel and dirt. For the really heavy snow, go back to relying on the tractor and scoop.
There's going to be a lot of people here in the comments, and people that watch this video that won't be able to wrap their head around this. I personally won't give advice on something if I don't have direct experience with it lol...but the amount of people on the Internet that feel like they have something valid to offer when they've never seen it in person or in real life is amazing to me😂 I have zero experience with robot feeding systems, but I have a lifetime of experience with dairy, and all I can say to anyone that thinks these guys are lazy because they have this- go find a dairy farm and spend one week there, and I mean from the beginning of morning chores until the lights go off at the end of the day. at that point you will understand and then you can come back here and revise your comment...
I retired from the dairy quite a few years ago. This would have been awesome to use. I think I can watch the mixing and feeding process for hours. Good move.
The setup dumping into the robot is so hi-tech, but so not hi-tech at the same time, lol. It's amazing to see the changes on the farm over the years. I love all aspects of your videos. Thanks for bringing us along.
Even babysitting these for a few minutes is still easier than running tractors and equipment around to a mixing wagon.....I mean look at all the time he's got lol
I've been watching for a couple of years and have thoroughly enjoyed the videos. So many improvements through automation and engineering. All you need now is for the cows to learn to milk themselves...
Its so amazing to see them working! This was the reason I got into robotics, to take away the boring jobs and liberate people from them to have more time with family and friends!
On te suit depuis longtemps. Des les premières vidéos j ai penser à ce système pour ta ferme. Je pose ce système en France depuis une dizaine d année. Trop content de te voir bien travailler
All of your projects over the past couple years have been one of the most interesting things watch on UA-cam - always look forward to your presentations !
I didn’t grow up on a farm and experience the amazing work ethic that you and millions of farmers have. I grew up in Suburbia, and while my high school girlfriend had a horse that needed daily attention, it was a “Hobby Horse”. I’m just amazed at you, your family (especially the Big Boss), and the entire system used to create dairy products. Keep up the great work and the terrific videos.
To finally see it working is great. As you built and explained I didn’t see it until the robots showed up. This is great. Congratulations, big project complete
The new feeding system looks great, Congratulations on a job well done. I hope to see more of these systems being installed. Time for you to buy an easy chair and sit back and watch the Lely do all the work!
it is doing a great job yeah will take so tinkering like you say to get the mix how you want but it so good that you have that option to tweak the mix couple of months down the line it will just be the normal thing can just imagine a future video and the robot is in the back ground and we are all watching you do something else got to love the technology that gives you time back for family and other jobs you farmers work so hard early mornings late nights it takes a special person to do that so thankyou
Every time I see the molasses being added I want to reach through the screen and taste the mixture. So glad to see that your new feed system is working as expected. Thanks for sharing this new upgrade to your farm.
Love ur new feeding system freeing up all that time maybe ur dad and mm can enjoy the future and not have to work all the time I sure he deserves it love the channel
This is fantastic Eric! I'm loving these robots... I guess I will sort of miss the tractor running out feed... but this feels so modern and cutting edge. I agree with other comments about a power brush for the skiddy. Would make clearing snow a snap. And don't listen to any haters or "Um, Actually..." people. They are usually just sour grapes or misinformed and not bright enough to know it. IMHO Smart farmers find new technology that actually improves their work efficiency and then investment in their farm and themselves when it makes sense to do so. Adapt to the times or be left behind... laziness does not factor into it. In fact... I would argue that if this counts as "laziness"... then the "laziest" farmers are winning the game in the modern market.
@10thgenererationdairyman I’m very impressed with the robots and the feeding system I’m glad it’s helping you and your dads time management and I can’t wait to see this continue and see what kind of projects you can get done with your “spare time”
Sure am glad you waited till the tech matured, the reliability of these systems is great now! Not like the early days when your robot would end up down at the Rutters trying to feed the customers.... You smiled, job done.
Thank you for the updated tour in using the new Lely feeding system. I can see the labour savings, fresh feed advantage but I’m still a little apprehensive on maintaining 3 x 132’ silos! Thank you again for your quality UA-cam channel! 🎉
We have winter in the mix coming which may add a few hours now and then clearing the lanes. This feeding system is interesting including the 3 new Silos and unloading systems. Cheers 🇨🇦
I really would have thought you’d have saved more time than that. I agree with another comment for a brush for the skid steer. You’ll find a million uses for it.
Wow. This is really quite impressive. The automation may well make things more consistent and uniform. Now all you need is a robot that can scrape the stuff off the bedding as the cows go off for their milking. Maybe not though, that may be your physical workout now so may want to keep that. A big risk but it should pay for itself over time. A BIG change for both of you, especially your Dad. Hope things continue to run smoothly and little to no hiccups with the computer system. Great job.
Alot of people in here dont understand these systems are running all over the country in different condition. Lelly knows what there doing and with the snow it wont be and issue unless it snows every day all day all winter. After if snows they clean it off and thats about it. The ice can be stopped with a brine sand mix.
This is really something. Not only does it free up the 25 hours you spent feeding, but your time schedule has been freed up because you don't have to be there at a certain time every day to do the feeding.
Depending on how you value your time, that seems like a priceless investment!! Presume the time saved will go a long way towards decompressing your day-to-day and allow some wiggle room for all the other stuff that needs doing and never ends.
Amazing! Up next? Rotary milking parlor? A very large dairy farm in our area recently installed a rotary and almost immediately production went up around 15%!
I have seen small rotary parlors before but the thing i noticed with something like a 20 stall one is it rotating a lot more because there isn’t enough time for the cows to milk out so it’s making 2-3 rotations for 1 cow set on the parlor.
Looks like a really nice setup. As you gain knowledge & confidence in the system, your 'extra' time will be put to good use doing other priorities that sometimes get lacked attention. The filling of the Vectors makes me laugh..looks like when I go to the hardware store to get a custom paint color mixed..lol
Nice to see some innovation from the Netherlands work across the ocean. I can see some advantages filling the mixers with conveyors, instead of the grapple crane. I like the bunkers with blocks better like trioliet has. How often you need to climb the silo to adjust the unloaders? That's a big con that i see of your setup.
Corn silage unloader needs moved down about once a week and triticale unloader every two weeks. Each setup has pros and cons but we are happy with our upright silos so far.
Ground corn is always a pain to feed out of bins. It’s to sticky to flow properly. We usually let our feed supplier mix it with 25-30% of crushed wheat, barley or cornflakes (depending on what suits the ration at that moment).
Id be really curious to hear the day-to-day/month-to-month cost difference between electricity vs. all the fuel used with tractors and such. Also just curious to see if these make a noticeable difference in the electric bill. I'd imagine this will cut down on your fuel consumption and hours on machines massively. Really great to hear that these have freed up so much time for both you and your dad. You've talked about how you think these bots will pay for themselves overtime, but when it comes down to it this is the most important thing. More time on your hands to focus your energy on other things. The cows are fed and happy and you can get the big stuff done or even spend more time at home with the family.
They're already used to robotic equipment on the farm because he has robotic manure scrapers and a feed pusher that he has been using for a while so the cows have been around that kind of stuff for a long time it ain't gonna be a problem for them.
@@josephbennett3482 Thank you ! I know horses would be freaking out because no matter how many robotics they see, this is a DIFFERENT unit !! Laugh Out Loud ! Thanks for your response.
put some calming baffles in your small bins, it will keep the feed from packing when it's filled, these are shaped like a V when the bin is filled the baffle will slow down the fill so it won't pack, if this makes sense
When winter comes you may want to invest in a brush for the skid steer. Don't think it will damage the robot track like a blade would
i think they alredy have one. they used it cleaning up the empty bunks like a year ago.
Watching them move around I was thinking that maybe this company has another robot that could go out during the winter months and clear the path of light to moderate snow and in the non winter months periodically clear the path of loose gravel and dirt. For the really heavy snow, go back to relying on the tractor and scoop.
Maybe heated tracks
He went through that when they poured the concrete
Hey Eric,,if one of them says"Ill be back" when it leaves,,just run. Glad to see it's working out. Pretty substantial commitment and investment.
There's going to be a lot of people here in the comments, and people that watch this video that won't be able to wrap their head around this. We are putting milking robot in to improve our and cows lives
Well said Adam. Most city folk would hate spending a week working at a dairy. Just about any labor saving device is a win for a Dairyman.
I missed back in the day that you would always find a pop/soda
I retired from the dairy quite a few years ago. This would have been awesome to use. I think I can watch the mixing and feeding process for hours. Good move.
It is mesmerizing to watch it all get chewed up
The setup dumping into the robot is so hi-tech, but so not hi-tech at the same time, lol. It's amazing to see the changes on the farm over the years. I love all aspects of your videos. Thanks for bringing us along.
Glad to see this up and running! In winter it will be interesting to see how it performs in cold weather, snow and ice.
I love how u are showing all the troubleshooting problems because it will keep the people who doudted this quiet lol
No it won't. Id rather have the mixer and tractor. But that's me
@350mack i would agree, just stating something
Now all you need is a automatic milking system. Then when February comes around you can be sitting in the Bahamas on vacation.
Awesome video Eric. 🚜🚜🚜
There’s no way I would have more time for other projects. I’d be too busy watching these robots work. 😂
Even babysitting these for a few minutes is still easier than running tractors and equipment around to a mixing wagon.....I mean look at all the time he's got lol
"I have NO intention of working less" ............ Eric, that says everything about you mate !
G'day from Oz
That is so cool!! 25 hours a week time saver! That is awesome!
One of my go to channels, thanks and good work.
Awesome serious this opens up blocks of time for more projects. Time is the most valuable asset we control.
Good foresight to have the silo chutes positioned toward the feed room 👍
you guys have done a great job with the installers to get this going , congratulations. Greetings from Australia

"sippin a soda and just watching things happen." lol...my favorite line.
What a huge improvement in efficiency!

Really smart from lelly to partner with Eric. What a great job showing how everything goes!
So glad everything is going well
I would call this system nothing short of amazing!! Money well spent.
Watching the mixer is like a wood stove or washing machine, mesmerizing.
Glad to see the robots are working well. They’re new so they should. True tests will be a year to 18 months down the road. Good Luck

Hey Eric
The new feed system looks good and gives you more time to make ice cold beverage commercials. 😂
I miss them 😢
Well that is awesome that it is working out for the farm. I'm happy for you
A lot of planning and hard work, Congrats
How will all this work in the snow? I am fascinated and in awe at how this works. So glad it has helped you and your Dad. Amazing.
Guess you will have to wait and see
Great video Eric I am glad your robots are working out for you
After a bit when you are up and running. This is going to change your life.
Looking good Eric, everything is going along nice.
The system seems to be working well

GOOD AFTERNOON ERIC THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
As long as the ladies are happy, nothing else matters! I am surprised that the feeders run 24/7 - that seems crazy to me 😉

4:30 slow is smooth, Smooth is fast
Saving time but also saving diesel ..still waiting to see how they handle the snow/ice on those paths
Saving diesel, but using a lot more electricity.
