Some added information that answers some of the question you had watching this and the first movie: [No Spoilers] 1: Corvinus had 3 sons, one bitten by Bat, Marcus, one bitten by wolf, Willaim and one that lived a human life. 2: All 3 blood lines had the potential to become hybrids, but no one knew that until it was discovered in the 1st movie 3: Michael Corvin, Selenes love intrest, was the decendent of the Human Corvinus blood line, and first hybrid. 4: Michael looks more like a wolf, because he was a Lycan first, then infected with Vampire blood. 5: In the first move the Lycan scientist is brought before Victor, and victor kills him with 1 punch, in the Elder Crypt of the coven. 6: That Lycan's blood seeped through the floor of the Crypt and was the blood that re-awoken Marcus. 7: Marcus became a hybrid when he was infected by that Lycans blood, until then he was just a normal vampire 8: Marcus in his hybrid form looks more bat like than Michael, because he was a vampire first, then a Lycan 9: When Marcus turned Victor, he feared that Victor would betray him, because he was a ruthless tyrant, so he lied to him and told him that if he died, all of his blood line, including victor, would also die. The Corvinus blood is special. And Alexander passed that blood to his children. The blood is how when William was bit by a wolf he made werewolves. Then eventually werewolves were able to change back and forth, and the ones who could shift became Lycans. The blood is how when Marcus was bit by a bat he made vampires. But he lied to Victor about his death ending their existence as a way to keep Victor in check and protect himself and his brother. It's also why Marcus turned into a hybrid when woken up with Lycan blood (rather than dying like someone else would). The blood is why Michael could survive being bit by Lycan and vampire because he is a descendant of Alexander Corvinus' human child. And now the blood has been passed on to Selene which makes her more than her kin
Oh and wanted to mention, Selene as a child was played by Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen's daughter Lily. Awesome knowing her and her mother played Selene and her father played Lucian.
Here's some interesting facts and connections about the cast and staff. At the time of this movie, Kate Beckinsale was married to its director, Len Wiseman. The girl who played Selene as a child in the flashback was Lily Sheen, Kate's real life daughter, who she had with her ex, Michael Sheen, who played Lucian.
I was always impressed that Kate Beckinsale never flinches or winces in this series when she's firing guns, even on full auto. Most actors flinch because of the loud report of the blanks. She was amazing in this series!
My absolute favorite of the Underworld movies. Not only does it have my favorite looking designs ever for a vampire and werewolf in Marcus and William, but we are further blessed with Kate Beckinsale as Selene. Seriously, not only is she literally the most beautiful gothic woman in film history, she is such a badass that I would go to war both with her AND FOR HER!😍😍
Me too. Think this and the first make an amazing movie combined. The first is really good story wise and has some good action in parts but this one really expanded the lore and was even better paced with fun scenes spread throughout
Definitely the best werewolf designs in movie Cinema I love how they look actually in-between wolves and human hybrids The opening scene of the werewolves transformations were awesome
This was even better than the first. Getting to see a hybrid a new breed of species taking evolution to a new era. Derek Jacobi felt like Obi-Wan Kenobi in this film. Seeing Selene becoming a pure immortal like Michael makes here unique and a new descendent.
Alexander corvinas was the first immortal because he survived a deadly disease that wiped out his entire village. And it molded and changed him so that he would be the first immortal. And then once his sons got bitten by a bat and a Wolf that transformed into a vampire and warewolf. And anyone who carries the corvenis bloodline like Michael or Marcus can be turned into a hybrid. Even William, he just never got turned into hybrid. And Marcus was turned into a hybrid. Because the blood he drank while he was sleeping was a lycans blood.
@Just_A_Typical_Person No. As awesome as she is though no. Because she is not a descendant of Alexander corvinas. But since she drank his blood before he died she became the first vampire that could walk in the light. Because of his blood, he is the original immortal his blood is special even though he is not a vampire or a lycan. It made her stronger and faster and able to take the sun. Basically Enhanced her to a whole other level that's why when she asked "what will I become" he said "the future".
@Just_A_Typical_Person she also took all his blood memories so she is a lot me knowledgeable about everything that happen before her. Or how everything started.
I always took the "If I die the bloodline dies with me" was a lie Marcus told Viktor to keep Viktor from killing him (or having his army of vampires kill him)
I always thought it was after killing them the bloodlines were preserved in Selene in Micheal, Micheal through genetics and such as the last of the Corvius bloodline and Selene because she drank his blood.
So Marcus has wings because he is the first vampire to become a hybrid through werewolf blood. Since he was bitten by bat first he developed wings as his second mutation while also now being immune to sunlight and and silver plus having even more strength. Micheal was a werewolf first so he developed more wolf like features while retaining the vampire traits doubly stronger than both vamp and wolf with no weakness to silver or sunlight.
no where does it say he developed the wings as a secondary mutation after drinking he werewolf blood nor did it ever say he couldn't walk in the daylight. logically he should have been able to already because he was born with the Corvenus strain within himself.
I believe it was mentioned that Marcus had more control over his vampire bat transformation as he was found by his dad and younger brother and healed his wound and took care of him after he was bitten by a vampire bat (which was shown in this movie) And William was stuck out in the frozen woods after he was bitten by a gray wolf and due to his starvation, sickness and delirium he snapped and fully gave into the full transformation and couldn't turn back At least that's what I gathered from all the lore I've read over the years
he also had a son who had the strain in dormant form which is how it was passed down to Michael. Selene is now able to walk in the sun becoming a Daywalker. Underworld was the first vampire movie I ever watched as a kid
The digital critters look much better than in the first film, it's fun seeing Derek Jacobi and Bill Nighy vamp it up, and the sight of Kate in that suit makes it worth squinting through all the murk.
I'm liking these Rohn Joxy reactions lol. Glad y'all reacting to one of my favorite franchises. 41:53 Answer to Roxy's question: Marcus just lied so Victor wouldn't try to kill him. He needed leverage once he made Victor immortal; and he still needed his army to take on his brother William. P.S. 'Rise of the Lycans' IS the 3rd installment (and a prequel) which you two will get answers on why lycans can revert to human even though the ones Will bit couldn't. I hope y'all watch them all (animated movie included). The 4th is a bit of a rough watch but the last one is almost as good as the original.
The reason Vampires didnt show up in mirrors in old Vamp lore, is because old mirrors were made with silver nitrate in the mirror for the reflection, they are now made with aluminum, hence why Vamps nowadays have a reflection
I was waiting for this reaction🎉 - Roxy and John are the best, most opposites-attract pairing! PS. Kate Beckinsale speaks fluent Russian and I love that they worked that into the truck-stealing scene ❤ (“mind if I drive?”)
Underworld and The Vampire Chroncles are by far my favorite Vampire lore. I prefer Vampire stories from their perspective that treats them as competent immortals versus mindless drowns being killed by Vampire hunters.
Watching this again made me realize how much i love this movie... Just think the werewolf (William) looks so dope! Watching the first movie, I picked Vampire.. then I saw this movie and changed sides 😅
And if you're lookin' for a good way to support the channel & rock a lil Reject Nation swag in the process, check out the www.rejectnationshop.com/ Store!!!
Aw Roxie I bet you would've had a blast getting into the franchise as it was premiering! Underworld and the Resident Evil movies were my jam! Beautiful women kicking ass in the horror genre. Also, what you know about Penny Dreadful??? I never hear anyone talk about that show but what a wonderful UNDERRATED show it was!
I'm so happy you're reacting to this franchise! It's one of my all time favorites, I try to watch it every year! The 3rd one "Rise of the Lycans" is the best one imo. So you guys will have fun with that one! You guys rock!🤙🏻
Marcus a hybrid now cause of the Lycan blood so the wings are because of that plus he’s the original vampire. William Lycans never turned back human Lucian was the true first Lycan that could change
the wings were already there. he was bit by a bat and so he has bat features like his brother was bit by a rabit wolf so he has a wolf form. they say this on the DVD commentary
When Marcus drank the blood of the werewolf at the end of the first movie, he became a hybrid like Michael, that is why he was able to turn into the bat-like creature with wings, unlike any of the other vampires. I'm also surprised that they didn't recognize that Tony Curran was in Blade 2 to as Priest, one of the Blood Pack.
Alexander was ready to rest, after centuries of pain and suffering, watching those he cared for die, watching his own children cause many of those deaths. . .he was ready to leave the fate of the world to another.
I'm just giving my opinion here. The first 3 are the best. The last two are eh. They were okay. But not my favorites. Also, Tony Curran was amazing as Marcus. What a great actor.
Tony deserved to carry his own movie showing the birth of the Vampire and Werewolf race. He could have made Marcus and especially William maybe even deeper characters
I find it funny that the first movie was filmed on location in Hungary, but not a single character spoke Hungarian. Yet now when the movie actually acknowledges the setting and have a bunch of people speaking Hungarian, it was filmed in Canada lmao
See now this is why I'm convinced that vampires are just as bad as, if not worse than humans when it comes to the issue of integrity. Werewolves on the other hand would never betray their own kin, let alone their own respective pack. Selene is of course a notable exception, because she harbours such a high measure of honour which makes her a rarity amongst her kind. In addition to being a warrior of high renown, which every other vampire would be keen to exploit for their own leverage.
Interesting story with the love scene. At the time, Kate was married to the director and he insisted that they needed more lust in the scene so he kept pushing them for more…Scott said it was incredibly awkward.
It's explained in the first movie how hybrids are stronger than both. Hybrids have the same strengths as each but none of the others weaknesses. You have to remember they get stronger as they age, Michael was only just turned days before so he has no real understanding of his abilities yet. He still healed rather quickly considering the type of injury he had as as I stated he's like a newborn of a few weeks old learning his new found abilities. He'll get stronger with age and time as all vampires and lycans do as they age. The next one is one of my favorites in the series.
you are only partially correct. while its true a hybrid has the strenght of both species. its not true they are actually STRONGER. they have advantages but not actual strength above others. contrary to what you claimed lycans do not get stronger with age. they are just animalistic so they have a little bit more brute strength but as we have seen vampires definitely are stronger because they have superior control. viktor who was a frail old man when he became a vampire who also still moved as if he was somewhat frail was still stronger than Raze who was by far the 2nd strongest lycan in history(up until that point) outside of William he casually killed Raze with 1 hand only the vampire side of Michael would have gotten stronger with age(they literally say this on the DVD commentary) when it comes to hybrid form they also have claws and enhanced regeneration despite this Corvinus strain Selene is STILL WAY MORE POWERFUL THAN MICHAEL or even EVE. she casually kicked a cargo van a good 10 feet and took on an ubber lycan by herself
Joxyyy! ❤😂 Hoping you finish the series! Love the lore and storylines, and look forward to your thoughts! 😊 Edit: cackled at the intro narration...great teamwork, as to be expected 😂
Remeber Alexander was covering up for all the crimes of the vampires and lycans so that comes back to bite them (pun very much intended) in underworld awakening
thats a msunderstanding Alexander was cleaning up their mess but its not what kept them a secret the vampires themselves kept to the shadows its the lycans that let it slip of the vampire and lycans existence as a means to wipe out the majority of vampires
I love the underworld movies. There such a guilty pleasure. I’m glad Roxy got to see them hook up ☺️👍. I haven’t seen these movies in years so I’m here for these watch alongs. Thanks Rejects ☺️👍
My personal theory regarding Markus' ability to transform is because he consumed Lycan blood while still in hibernation. Because of his close relation to the first immortal Alexander Corvinus, Markus was able to incorporate the small amount of Lycan DNA into his gene structure. Technically, this makes Markus a hybrid like Michael, but Michael is an even Vampire/Lycan mix, while Markus is 99% Vampire and 1% Lycan.
yes i think at first he just had wings because he was bitten by a bat but yes your correct he does have some lycan in his blood making him stronger and causes his transformation how lycans transform
your personal theory is wrong in the story of Alexander Corvinus it is stated that he was born with a recessive genetic anomaly now dubbed the Corvinus strain, in its activated form it gives the carrier immortality and super strength, when he survived the plague that ravaged his village he found out he had this genetic anomaly he later had 3 sons, Twins marcus and william who inherited his genetic anomaly, and a 3rd un named son who inherited the anomaly in its inactive form, later on Marcus was bit by a bat and william bit by a rabid wolf, when this occured its secondary function kicked in, the Corvinus strain additionally possesses the capability for another stage of of mutation when subjected to gene-fusion, essentially what this means is because marcus and william were born with the activated form of their fathers genetic anomaly they were capable of undergoing a secondary mutation because of the fusion of there genes with the animal that bit them. now both had evolved into superior forms but because the Corvinus strain allows for further mutation when subjected to gene-fusion this meant that when Marcus consumed a lycans blood it fused with his already existing vampire strain turning him into a hybrid essentially this means that anyone who has the Corvinus strain can undergo further mutation if exposed to the DNA of any other species INCLUDING SELENE
I probably said this in your "Underworld" reaction, but I love all of these movies, the entire series. This is a great follow up to the first; the two are kind of one movie tbh. Anyway, please do watch all of them!
To answer the question at the end, Rise of the Lycans is the 3rd movie in the franchise but also serves as a prequel, Awakening is the 4th movie but is a continuation from this movie which is likely why you were being recommended Awakening instead of Rise of the Lycans. I also agree with Roxy, if you're going to do a Vampire show or movie and you want it done right it needs to be R-rated. Hopefully Marvel realizes that for the Mahershala Ali Blade movie and makes it R-rated.
I think Roxy, Coy, Jon and Greg should all watch White Men Can't Jump together, it's really the only way to follow Demolition Man and The Blade Trilogy. Coy watched Demolition Man with Jon, Roxy watched the Blade trilogy with Jon, Greg's the only one who hasn't been indulging in vintage Wesley Snipes already lol
I love Underworld and I think this was a great sequel in almost every way. I think some of the lore is a little clunky, but as you point out, they rode a fine line of taking themselves seriously while also delivering some good B-movie action and it works. The better CGI and more ambitious action sequences certainly help, but they're not really what sold me on the movie, it's the performances and the direction. The shot you picked for the thumbnail is so memorable that it's burned into my brain, yet it's only a 5 seconds or whatever scene, but that's what I think a vampire intimidating a human should look like and Kate sells it perfectly. The emotional resonance of the ending is something you wouldn't expect in a B-movie about vampires and werewolves and lots of gunfights and leather outfits, but it's earned and makes sense, and, again, it works because they have Kate Beckinsale to actually make you buy into it.
It was a false truth that if you kill the original vampire then the rest sired die. In the scene where you get exposition from the exiled vampire. They ask him about it, he says "a clever deception indeed. Victor would not take the risk"
12:38 Marcus was turned into a hybrid at the end of the first movie when the Lycan killed by Victor bled into Marcus's resting place. This caused Marcus to unintentionally drink lycan blood while he was asleep resulting in the transformation that gave him blue skin like Michael as well as wings.
Funny story about this movie there was a crossover between blade and Underworld 2 Actor here trying to get his brother played Marcus. Same actor played in Blade 2 his character was named Priest he was part of the Wolfpack to to hunt down blade.
Love it when you two team up on here! You two did all my Blade movies which was awesome! And now you’re doing all my Underworld movies! Keep ‘em coming! You two are great! 👍🏽 👍🏽
I’m back😂 Alexander was the first immortal he had three sons William bit by wolf Marcus by bat the third brother wasn’t bit and the gene was dormant which is why Michael was hunted in the first he’s a descendent of the third brother
Alexander was basically Immortal, making Selene basically the same. And Rise of the Lycans was made next but was not made to be the third installment ,its a prequel making it the first canonically in the series... Awakening is the next one canonically, then Blood Wars. This is all and all and great series loving that you guys are getting into it. Oh and it is not that Danny McBride according to internet sources. Its screenwriter Danny Flynn McBride he was one of the soliders of Alex in this movie.
all of them are immortal he was just a different type of Immortal alexander was born with a recessive genetic anomaly A triple-celled platelet... which holds unspeakable power. according to singe when inherited in its active form, gives its carrier immortality and superhuman strength, while additionally possessing the capability for another stage of mutation when subjected to gene-fusion. when Marcus and William were bit by the bat and the rabid wolf they had undergone gene-fusion which caused them to further mutate into a vampire and a werewolf. essentially what this means is that Selene now harbors the original strain of the virus plus the mutated form that is the vampirism. since she now has the corvinus strain she has a strain of the virus that can undergo mutation if forced into a state of gene-fusion so in theory she could consume the blood of other creatures and undergo mutation. the possiblities are endless like what if she had consumed marcus's blood she may have undergon a mutation to get bat wings. what if she got bit by a rabid eagle would she gain eagle wings? etc also all of them are canon. what you mean is chronoligical and installment doesn't mean a sequel it just means an installment whether its a sequel or a prequel
Its insinuated that Marcus tricked them, telling them they couldn't kill him because they would all die. But in fact was lying but they couldn't take the chance to kill him and risk killing all vampires or lycans. So it was his protection policy. Call my bluff and maybe die, or believe me and leave me be.
The flashing grenades are meant to be fuel air bombs otherwise known as thermobaric explosives it disperses aerosolised fuel into the air before the spark ignites it. When the fuel is dispersed properly the fire burns faster than the speed of sound causing the largest known non nuclear explosions with effects similar to nukes but without the radiation or even the meed for expensive rare materials. Even basic flower properly dispersed can provide enough fuel for the reaction. It's seriously terrifying just how simple and dangerous it is. Just some basic fuel a compressed gas tank and an ignition source and you have a device that makes WWII bombs look like fireworks.
" A PRISONASTERY!!!!" Absolutely LOVE how a word is brilliantly made up by the Reel Rejects, given that Tanis' place used to look like a monastery AND is more like a prison.😁
Definitely keep watching these movies. Your guy’s energy and reactions are so great and remind me of watching this franchise for the first time years ago. Love it, keep it up 🤙
Next film is RISE OF THE LYCANS which is a prequel. It's the story of Michael Sheen's Lucian and how the war first began. If you liked these first two movies, and you loved watching vampires fight in armor with swords.. you're going to love part 3. The ones following the trilogy are hoooooorrible though. If someone wants you to watch those i'd question my friendship with them. Also there were MULTIPLE soundtracks released that were connected to the UNDERWORLD movies. None of the damn songs were in the movies, but it was exactly the kind of music you two were describing that should have been needle-dropped into the film.
The whole thing about killing the original killing those they've turned has always been part of vampire mythology. It's featured prominently in all the old Hammer films, killing Dracula in those films frees those he's bitten, its been amalgamated into lycanthrope myth too just as silver being harmful is part of both. Silver, like garlic, has antiseptic properties and was considered a 'pure' metal hence why it harms the 'impure' creatures of the night. Mirrors used to be backed by silver too so that goes to explain why traditionally you couldn't see a vampires reflection in them.
you guys misunderstand Marcus lied about his death causing the death of all vampires, he did so because he knew that while he was the first and as such most powerful vampire Viktor had an army.
The guy who played Markus was also in Blade 2 as a vampire soldier. He wasn't in it long but he was in it. XD They BELIEVED Killing the og twin brothers would kill all those they turned(probably where Vampire Diaries got it from) But it wasn't true, they were just scared of the possibility. I believe the full story is Alexander Corvinus was that he born with the ability to adjust his body to withstand anything, he gave himself Immortality, the ability to use martial arts, that's why all his descendants naturally can fight(for Plot), Regeneration, Strength, Incredible Stealth abilities, and Mental Resilience and the ability to pass powers on to others by giving his blood, he aged until he was an old man. During that time he had two sons, both of them inheriting the immortality and genetic abilities from their father. They were not born what they became. In the story Markus was bitten by a Bat, giving him wings and his blood sucking powers, while William was bitten by a wolf, making him turn into one. The mix of both of their father's powers and the animal powers is what made them what they are. And the Ability to give others powers is what made them spread, but the spreading wasn't the same species as them, they weren't as strong, eventually the Lycans were able to shift forms back into humans unlike William, and the Vampires were weak to sunlight unlike Markus who could walk in the sun. Most of the powers are the same on both sides, they are genetically cousins, that's why in the last movie Lucian called Craven "Cousin" They weren't actually cousins but in a way back to Markus and William bloodlines they were. Tho Over thousands of years of living Alexander got actually old, not enough to kill him he was immortal but enough to keep him weak, and when the time came he didn't fight back against his son, the only thing he could do was give his blood to Selene hoping she could do some good with it, some extra strength and powers(Daywalker) from him. He could have easily lived from what Markus did and put himself back together, it might have taken a while but he didn't want to live, he'd been alive for thousands of years, He was ready to go.
Marcus had wings because it was part of his hybridization. He was a vampire before he became a hybrid unlike michael who was a lycan before he was hybridized. That's why they look different.
Loved that u both enjoyed this movie , it’s still my favorite the franchise. And just in case your still wondering, the rumor that “if Marcus and William died then both Lucan’s and vampires would die “, was actually just a lie used to keep Viktir from killing William and Marcus .
This is my favorite out next to rise of the Lycans, but I don't know if anybody said it or not keep in mind Marcus was bitten by a bat he is one of the “first” ever vampires, he has characteristics of a bat no other vampire can just grow wings over time just like how lycans now can change back to human form but William cant

Michael = Lycan dominant hybrid since he was bitten by a Lycan(Lucian) first
Marcus = Vampire dominant hybrid since he was a Vampire first
One bitten by a wolf, the other was bitten by a bat. Making THEM the first vampire and lycan
@@Lava91point0 yup 👍
@@AbhishekKr.Singh1609 it’s strange because Tanis said that William created the first werewolf which doesn’t make sense lol
@@Lava91point0 yeah
@@AbhishekKr.Singh1609 great input
I always took the "If I die the bloodline dies with me" was a lie Marcus told Viktor to keep Viktor from killing him (or having his army of vampires kill him)
Right as powerful as Marcus is as the OG vampire , 10 military trained veteran vampires would easily dispatch him
I always thought it was after killing them the bloodlines were preserved in Selene in Micheal, Micheal through genetics and such as the last of the Corvius bloodline and Selene because she drank his blood.
I’m so excited! Rise of the Lycans is next and it’s my favorite movie in the franchise. My love for Lucien is unhealthy and eternal!
Can't blame you for that. He's definitely one of the best characters in the movie
Yeah agreed, although there was a major character in that film that I didn't like (no spoilers)
Michael Sheen is a beast
So Marcus has wings because he is the first vampire to become a hybrid through werewolf blood. Since he was bitten by bat first he developed wings as his second mutation while also now being immune to sunlight and and silver plus having even more strength. Micheal was a werewolf first so he developed more wolf like features while retaining the vampire traits doubly stronger than both vamp and wolf with no weakness to silver or sunlight.
Truth! i think they thought Marcus was just naturally bat like. He was just a normal vampire before what happened at the end of part 1.
no where does it say he developed the wings as a secondary mutation after drinking he werewolf blood nor did it ever say he couldn't walk in the daylight. logically he should have been able to already because he was born with the Corvenus strain within himself.
I believe it was mentioned that Marcus had more control over his vampire bat transformation as he was found by his dad and younger brother and healed his wound and took care of him after he was bitten by a vampire bat (which was shown in this movie)
And William was stuck out in the frozen woods after he was bitten by a gray wolf and due to his starvation, sickness and delirium he snapped and fully gave into the full transformation and couldn't turn back
At least that's what I gathered from all the lore I've read over the years
Roxy's smile when she yelled out "Lover of Love and Shipper of Ships" made me so happy!!!! Sounds like a great t-shirt merch idea too!!!🥰🥰🥰
he also had a son who had the strain in dormant form which is how it was passed down to Michael.
Vamps must have been so happy with that invention. No more bad hair days!
@@ctakitimu maybe vampires themselves were the ones who invented the aluminum mirror for that very reason 🤔
@@ctakitimu Or makeup.
I absolutely love the underworld films, cgi still looks great, characters were solid throughout, the look of Marcus is my fave vamp look ever
RonJoxy hive wins again!
I think this franchise is sooo underrated. Selene is such a bad ass character and Kate Beckinsale is so good in that role.
Watching this again made me realize how much i love this movie... Just think the werewolf (William) looks so dope! Watching the first movie, I picked Vampire.. then I saw this movie and changed sides 😅
Roxy has quickly risen to the top of my favorite rejects list.
Love that
And if you're lookin' for a good way to support the channel & rock a lil Reject Nation swag in the process, check out the www.rejectnationshop.com/ Store!!!
This movie is such an great sequel, the scene between Alexander and Marcus, powerful acting.
The sunlight scene was my favorite also. Gave me chills. ❤
Kate is the strongest hybrid now. I love both movies equally for different reasons.
John to answer your question about seeing more of the war in medieval times, you’re gonna *love* underworld 3 hehehe.
If Marcus had a nifty coat and a hat he would look like Jeepers Creepers 🤣
Marcus a hybrid now cause of the Lycan blood so the wings are because of that plus he’s the original vampire. William Lycans never turned back human Lucian was the true first Lycan that could change
the wings were already there. he was bit by a bat and so he has bat features like his brother was bit by a rabit wolf so he has a wolf form. they say this on the DVD commentary
and william wasn't a lycan he was a werewolf lycans are evolved werewolves
@@houseofaction know that but in underworld they called werewolves Lycans because it’s another name for werewolves
*Really looking forward to Rise of The Lycans. Our boy Lucian deserves the respect*
Speaking of blood in the snow, the perfect movie for that is 30 days of night!
I can see why, he was barely in the movie and didn't quite look the same. He was one of the first of the blood pack to be killed, if not THE first.
they say on the DVD commentary that Marcus had always had those wings even before consuming lycan blood.
Roxy’s “blow it up blow it up” rhianna chime in was perfect 🫡
Funny how the farther and son were both in Dr Who (marcus- Tony Curran Vincent van gough and Alexander - Derek Jacobi professor Yarna I.e. the master)
Alexander was ready to rest, after centuries of pain and suffering, watching those he cared for die, watching his own children cause many of those deaths. . .he was ready to leave the fate of the world to another.
This movie was so edgy and awsome,so nice of them to cast John as Lucian in the last one
At this point I think Roxy should just write a rap song because she did a lot at the beginning with those punchlines 😅❤❤❤
You two are the best duo❤
Markus has wings because he was bitten by a BAT folks.
Roxy loves relationships in movies so much XD
She was adorable when Michael and Selene kissed. 🤩
You were adorable, too, John 😆
The costume design in these first movies is legit so good. They leaned in and i love it.
Too bad this is the last time he's actually... y'know
@@Marukanitel
Yes absolutely
you are only partially correct. while its true a hybrid has the strenght of both species. its not true they are actually STRONGER.
they have advantages but not actual strength above others.
contrary to what you claimed lycans do not get stronger with age. they are just animalistic so they have a little bit more brute strength but as we have seen vampires definitely are stronger because they have superior control.
viktor who was a frail old man when he became a vampire who also still moved as if he was somewhat frail was still stronger than Raze who was by far the 2nd strongest lycan in history(up until that point) outside of William he casually killed Raze with 1 hand
only the vampire side of Michael would have gotten stronger with age(they literally say this on the DVD commentary)
when it comes to hybrid form they also have claws and enhanced regeneration
despite this Corvinus strain Selene is STILL WAY MORE POWERFUL THAN MICHAEL or even EVE.
she casually kicked a cargo van a good 10 feet and took on an ubber lycan by herself
@@houseofactionshe’s not stronger than grown up Eve
Eve is just inexperienced fighting
Joxyyy! ❤😂
Hoping you finish the series!
Love the lore and storylines, and look forward to your thoughts! 😊
Edit: cackled at the intro narration...great teamwork, as to be expected 😂
Remeber Alexander was covering up for all the crimes of the vampires and lycans so that comes back to bite them (pun very much intended) in underworld awakening
thats a msunderstanding Alexander was cleaning up their mess but its not what kept them a secret
the vampires themselves kept to the shadows
its the lycans that let it slip of the vampire and lycans existence as a means to wipe out the majority of vampires
I love the underworld movies. There such a guilty pleasure. I’m glad Roxy got to see them hook up ☺️👍. I haven’t seen these movies in years so I’m here for these watch alongs. Thanks Rejects ☺️👍
Kate Beckinsale is brilliant in "Serendipity".
You must see underworld rise of the lycan to complete this story👍
My personal theory regarding Markus' ability to transform is because he consumed Lycan blood while still in hibernation. Because of his close relation to the first immortal Alexander Corvinus, Markus was able to incorporate the small amount of Lycan DNA into his gene structure. Technically, this makes Markus a hybrid like Michael, but Michael is an even Vampire/Lycan mix, while Markus is 99% Vampire and 1% Lycan.
yes i think at first he just had wings because he was bitten by a bat but yes your correct he does have some lycan in his blood making him stronger and causes his transformation how lycans transform
your personal theory is wrong in the story of Alexander Corvinus it is stated that he was born with a recessive genetic anomaly now dubbed the Corvinus strain, in its activated form it gives the carrier immortality and super strength, when he survived the plague that ravaged his village he found out he had this genetic anomaly he later had 3 sons, Twins marcus and william who inherited his genetic anomaly, and a 3rd un named son who inherited the anomaly in its inactive form, later on Marcus was bit by a bat and william bit by a rabid wolf, when this occured its secondary function kicked in, the Corvinus strain additionally possesses the capability for another stage of of mutation when subjected to gene-fusion, essentially what this means is because marcus and william were born with the activated form of their fathers genetic anomaly they were capable of undergoing a secondary mutation because of the fusion of there genes with the animal that bit them. now both had evolved into superior forms but because the Corvinus strain allows for further mutation when subjected to gene-fusion this meant that when Marcus consumed a lycans blood it fused with his already existing vampire strain turning him into a hybrid
essentially this means that anyone who has the Corvinus strain can undergo further mutation if exposed to the DNA of any other species INCLUDING SELENE
Ha ha ha!😂 Nice touch with the "You know What's Going On Here". And trust me all of us fans who have seen the movies definitely know.
1 bit by wolf 1 by bat.....and in all these years, corvinus never got bit by a mosquito?
I hadn't seen this movie in quite awhile, I had forgotten how excellent it was and how much it built out the lore.
That little girl who plays young Selene is Kate Beckinsale daughter
You are my favorite pair of reactors on UA-cam. So entertaining!!
😆 whatever Rox took before this video I want some…no scratch that…I want all of it lol.
Roxy i appreciate your questions to whoever you're reacting with, it shows that you're engaged and intrigued.
Funny story about this movie there was a crossover between blade and Underworld 2 Actor here trying to get his brother played Marcus. Same actor played in Blade 2 his character was named Priest he was part of the Wolfpack to to hunt down blade.
Yes, Markus was Van Gough. He was also in The 13th Warrior with Antonio Banderas, and as you said, many other things.
I always took marcus having wings was because he was a vampire first.its why Michael looks more wolf like because he was a lycan first
Love it when you two team up on here! You two did all my Blade movies which was awesome! And now you’re doing all my Underworld movies! Keep ‘em coming! You two are great! 👍🏽 👍🏽
Damn man they did Michael dirty in the later movies
I’m back😂 Alexander was the first immortal he had three sons William bit by wolf Marcus by bat the third brother wasn’t bit and the gene was dormant which is why Michael was hunted in the first he’s a descendent of the third brother
Guy who played Marcus was one of the Vikings in 13th warrior
Alexander was basically Immortal, making Selene basically the same.
And Rise of the Lycans was made next but was not made to be the third installment ,its a prequel making it the first canonically in the series... Awakening is the next one canonically, then Blood Wars. This is all and all and great series loving that you guys are getting into it.
Oh and it is not that Danny McBride according to internet sources. Its screenwriter Danny Flynn McBride he was one of the soliders of Alex in this movie.
all of them are immortal he was just a different type of Immortal
alexander was born with a recessive genetic anomaly A triple-celled platelet... which holds unspeakable power. according to singe when inherited in its active form, gives its carrier immortality and superhuman strength, while additionally possessing the capability for another stage of mutation when subjected to gene-fusion.
when Marcus and William were bit by the bat and the rabid wolf they had undergone gene-fusion which caused them to further mutate into a vampire and a werewolf.
essentially what this means is that Selene now harbors the original strain of the virus plus the mutated form that is the vampirism. since she now has the corvinus strain she has a strain of the virus that can undergo mutation if forced into a state of gene-fusion so in theory she could consume the blood of other creatures and undergo mutation. the possiblities are endless like what if she had consumed marcus's blood she may have undergon a mutation to get bat wings. what if she got bit by a rabid eagle would she gain eagle wings? etc
also all of them are canon.
what you mean is chronoligical
and installment doesn't mean a sequel it just means an installment whether its a sequel or a prequel
Tony Curran as Marcus is incredible but the guy is incredible in everything he’s in , Priest Blade 2, the Syfy series Defiance as Datak Tarr
He was in an episode of For All Mankind as a Scottish Astronaut
" A PRISONASTERY!!!!"
Absolutely LOVE how a word is brilliantly made up by the Reel Rejects, given that Tanis' place used to look like a monastery AND is more like a prison.😁
Definitely keep watching these movies. Your guy’s energy and reactions are so great and remind me of watching this franchise for the first time years ago. Love it, keep it up 🤙
Cant wait for the next one, lets gooooo 😀
yall are the first reactors to show my favorite part of the movie how upset she was at not being able to bring him back. Good acting.
3) Rise of the Lycans.... Then, 4) Awakening... Then, 5) Blood Wars
The line delivery of “i heal instantly” still haunts me.
Yay I was hoping you guys would react to this so Roxy could see them hook up!😅
The whole thing about killing the original killing those they've turned has always been part of vampire mythology.
XD
They BELIEVED Killing the og twin brothers would kill all those they turned(probably where Vampire Diaries got it from) But it wasn't true, they were just scared of the possibility.
Honestly. Her voice is the beautiful thing I have ever heard. She is one of my heroes
That scene between Michael and Seline is wild and I'm all about it!
Ron joxie has bars!!!🤘🏾
This movie is soooo good such a great sequel. Can't wait for you guys to watch rise of the lycans
Movie suggestions that I think you'll enjoy: The Reaping , The Devil's Advocate and Queen of the Damned.
Bill Nighy is also in the Van Gogh Doctor Who episode. He plays the museum curator at the end
Marcus had wings because it was part of his hybridization. He was a vampire before he became a hybrid unlike michael who was a lycan before he was hybridized. That's why they look different.
Wings came for Marcus because it was werewolf blood that awakened him turning him into a hybrid.
