Awesome! I moved to Hollywood from New Jersey in 1986 having never been to Florida or seen a palm tree before. I was quickly blown away by the sheer majesty of the royal palms that line the streets of the lakes section where I would ride my bicycle. That fascination developed into my passion for palms that still I have to this day. Thanks for the videos!

In Taipei, royal palms mark important government buildings, hospitals, and even the National Palace Museum.

@@freerobuxcheckmychannel2521 Yes. And they look Cuban. While Taipei's climate is almost tropical, it does get chilly in winter, so you see unlikely combinations of temperate-zone plants, often from higher elevations in Taiwan, with truly tropical ones, including Carpentaria palms from around Darwin, Australia.

@@BlueRusso the Cuban ones look thicker than the Florida ones. I'm a palm tree expert and I didn't think palms were found in Taiwan

Historically, lots of royals were dug up in Cuba and moved to Florida. They grow fast, so ever since, royal palms in Florida have come from nurseries. The native Florida royal palms were formerly considered a distinct species, but are now included in the Cuban species, Roystonea regia. Some of our cultivated royal palms are from seed gathered from wild Florida trees, but most are likely to be of Cuban parentage.
To repeat, Cuba has lots of royal palms and they've thrived as companions of Cubans.
This video is wonderful. Hollywood is a beautiful older town.

I wondered about royals being overplanted in Florida until I visited Cuba. Royals abundant in the countryside.

They grow in the wild in Florida too but less so, they are less common but you can visit old palm forests full of them in Fakahatchee Strand.

@@tvold9204 Wrecking the Fakahatchee by cypress logging seems to have given the royals opportunity to fill the empty spaces.w

@@BlueRusso idk why specifically they say Royals were brought but everything else is native we don't have any proof we are just guessing since Cuba Is right underneath Florida
