  • @mistresssuccubus2176

A metal plate inside popcorn bags? First time I've ever heard of that. The popcorn I get has no metal plate in the bag. Plus, last time I checked. Metal does not go into your microwave cooker when using it. And yes, I know the machine is made out of metal. But you still wouldn't throw a fork in there.

I know you recommended not to store pasta and sauce together, but I have always found spaghetti tastes better the following day. I think it is because the sauce really gets a chance to soak into the noodles. Anyone else think second day spaghetti is better?

just heat the pasta through in the sauce in a pan, if its just under al dentay its will be pefect,,also if your storing cooked pasta add a splash of olive oil or veg oil and shake the bag to coat the pasta, this way the pasta wont become sticky and stuck together! avoid uses microwaves!

the reason for high heat is to crisp and remove any moisture in the crust. How long did you leave it in. I would try a shorter time. Medium heat might not give the same crisping effect.

Nope, you can do it w/o water. The main problem with microwaving potato's is fining the correct time. If you undercook it, it will be hard in the middle. Just do as he said and stick a toothpick through the center to see if it is done.

veggies come out so much better in you put them a plastic storage baggie and leave it open just a crack to let out the steam so it doesn't blow. Cooks so much faster. You can put a damp paper towel in there also to speed it up even more.

Another reason food cooks unevenly in microwaves is that microwaves use microwaves to cook food, pretty obvious, right? The thing is, it forms a 3d standing wave in the microwave. This means that there are nodes where the wave isn't moving at all, which means nothing will be heated at these points. You can observe this by cooking something that melts (cheese, chocolate), until it just starts melting. Then pull it out and you'll be able to see what I'm talking about.
    Microwaves are also safe.

  • @TheVikingOfNanotech

Microwave ovens heat food by absorption of microwave radiation, this process starts on the surface of the food, however it does penetrate further into the food then by ordinary heating/boiling. If you have a very thick piece of food you can check that in fact there is a "skin" depth where the radiation is no more penetrating, that is why it is recommended to only heat thin and small portions of food at a time.

Best way to reheat pizza: The oven. Almost all pizza places print the instructions to reheat in the oven on the box. I think it's even better than the fresh. To make a potato flower or whatever they are called, you need to roll the cooked potato on the counter while pressing down on it to break up the insides. I don't do it anymore because it isn't worth burning my hands.

    Awesome show as usual Jack.
One thing though , and I am not trying to correct you to be a buzz kill, but, when it comes to microwaves, its about the wattage. It doesnt have too much to do with how new it is, just your wattage. Of course if you got a 1998 - 1000w and a 2008 - 1000w , I will have to believe the newer one will be better at cooking.
Keep up the awesome shows , love em, oh yeah, tell your brother I love the pizza idea. Tried it, and its awesome.
