Jericho's WCW run helped develop his mic skills which lead to his amazing WWF debut and career. His 94' arm break was a blessing in disguise.
94 foot arm break?
Even if he didn’t break his arm he probably would have ended up in WCW at the same time. SMW went out of business at the end of 95. Chris ends up in WCW In mid 96 after a run in ECW.
Best thing Jericho did in SMW was filming Jim Cornette flipping out at the drive through
Who remembers when the "Walls of Jehricho" was called the "Lion Tamer"?
Now to be fair, when I first saw Jericho on WCW Nitro, I had no idea why it was called the Lion Tamer. At the time I thought maybe it was that he was supposed to look like a lion tamer or something but even that sounded retarded to me.
@@n0m4nic lol 👍
I still call it Lion Tamer. It sounds better, and the Walls of Jericho was made famous for collapsing.
Two different moves. At least they are now. The lion tamer is where he puts his knee on the guy's back/head and the walls of Jericho is just a Boston crab.
Lance Storm was the Canadian version of Kurt Angle and the non murdering version of Chris Benoit. Not sure why anyone else couldn’t see that
Kurt had bucket loads of charisma though
I had never done a watch a long until the Michael's v. Vader match. Keep them coming! Gives me another excuse to watch older wrestling and its great getting to hear Cornette's insight.
I used to laugh so hard when Jericho would do that bullshit 3 count with his foot on their chest flexing his muscles
Especially yelling "Come on, bay-beh!" while he did it
COME ON BAYBEY!!!!!! 1999 Jericho is frikkin hilarious. Interrupting Taker+Big Show, the Rock a bunch of times.
@@sgtraytango His best run as heel was against Shaun Michaels.
Lance-Claude Van Damme.
Fact check
1. Lance Storm is not 6'
2. Lance was never green
3. Lance was never 20
😂 "Never 20" good one!
Green in terms of promos and working. Technically in ring they were always good.
These watchalongs and the stories behind the matches are great, keep 'em comin'!
Lance Storm is the Captain Raymond Holt of wrestling
Lol amazing comparison
Good one. I used to call him David Puddy.
A brooklyn nine nine reference in a Jim Cornette video deserves a like in my book
Huge pop
Yes! Takes me back to when he was calling the championship a cummerbund 😂😂
Jim told me I could be a future wrestler, he said your a big old kid how old are you, “I said 14” he said oh yea you get in the weight room and get that baby fat off you and you call me! Lol we help them set up for a show they did for my foot ball team so I was there like days before the show, so that’s how I had access to him if anyone wonders! He bought us a stack of pizzas and got himself a DQ double cheese burger 😂! I never knew that was a thing until I heard it said on his podcast and i thought, you know he didn’t eat pizza he had DQ instead while we ate pizza from oasis the local place! This was in 1994 in barbourville KY! Ha he just mentioned it while I was typing that 🤔 Jim do you have us bugged buddy! 😂
I’m one of those “veteran “ fans and I never get tired of Jim talking about SMW. SMW and NWA/WCW were my promotions to watch.
The match is a must see just to see Cornies outfit alone!!!
August 5th 1994 I was enjoying a vacation at MCRD Parris Island
The only cool thing Jericho could do to bookend his career would be to team with Lance again.
I’m not sure if this promise still stands, but Jericho once said he wanted his retirement match to be against Lance.
Noone givesa shit about storm tho
Ghost Habanero I like Storm way more than the Inner Circle idiots.
@@kaijusoshingeki7214 inner circle is dope just get rid of santana and ortiz
@Joe Greene in ring yea personality and evolving fuck no
We're gonna rock Americaaa!!
Lance Storm was 25 years ahead of his time. So under appreciated.
Bland but talented? 😂
Family friendly but overwhelmingly talented but a little bland for my taste
Looked the part, could wrestle real well zero personality which always made him frustrating to watch. Regal would have been a good manager for The Thrill Seekers
He would have ruled ROH
Are those Freddie Mercury and Sebastian Bach managed by Tom Hanks?
Binging all the watch alongs. Keep em coming! Love seeing these classics.
I need Jim's reaction to Raw Underground ASAP
Patience, grasshopper.
He's gonna swear they brought Vince Russo back on creative. lol
Love this watch along
Jericho’s thumbnail looks like he should be wearing an unbuttoned shirt on the front of a Harlequin romance novel.
He looks like Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler
All of a sudden you’ve got someone putting words in your mouth - you can’t do that. The writers are taking the business from the boys, and that’s what the problem with creative is. They’ve got to give the business back to the damn boys. When you got a guy who’s been in the business three, six, eight, ten, or fifteen years, it doesn’t matter. Asking a damned writer what he’s supposed to say? There’s a problem.
Instead of thrills, Lance was seeking a personality.
Lance actually showed a personality in ECW. He was his best in ECW. Him and Chris Candido were a good team. later of course he teamed with Justin Credible.
When he won every title in wcw was when I stopped watching
Love love love the watch-alongs. They’re really helping by providing something to look forward to in the midst of all this craziness. God bless Jim and Brian.
When I was 14 years old watching SMW I remember Chris breaking his arm. I didn’t see the night of legends live but I remember watching the recap show and finding out Chris had broke his arm. I remember also not knowing if it was real or not like if it was just part of the storyline LOL. But I really wanted him to hurry up and get past the broken arm because I really thought the thrill seekers were the coolest new team. Then Chris just went away and it was Lance but it’s funny because I really wanted that tag team to get back together and win the championship. I was so excited when I saw Chris Jericho pop back up in WCW in 96 and he has always been one of my favorites. It’s crazy to think about that if he didn’t break his arm that night he and Lance would probably have gone on to win the SMW tag title once or twice and those guys probably would’ve been introduced to wrestling on the national stage as a tag team. How different would the wrestling world be if those guys wrestled as a tag team after SMW through WWF and WCW? I know they would’ve went to WWF first but we can’t ever say that we know for a fact they would’ve just stayed there. Especially when the Monday night war started WCW was kicking the WWF‘s ass until mid1998.
We LOVE Wrestling!! Thank you!
"I Canada its like. 1 Wayne Gretzky , 2 Bret Hart" - Lance Storm
Mil Maska Do not Forget George Saint Pierre
John Volken he would be #2 to GSP.
I cannot imagine a green Lance Storm. Baffles me.
There must have been one instance. They made a figure of it.

I never thought Chris Jericho was that big a deal watching him but when you look at his entire career the man has longevity
@Javy 22 theres no need to separate the two. Jericho doing great things
Longevity is half the battle in a business like professional wrestling and a lot of these guys can't even last ten years in it.
Request for watchalong Badd Blood 1997 Hell in a Cell. Considering how much input Jim had with the cage and the details of the debut of Kane I'd love to hear a commentary for the match.
Corny is one of the few people who can talk ad nauseam about a subject and yet never truly go stale.
Trying to get ahold of wrestlers in the early 90s - talk about telephone tag.
I thought I was the only person that remembered this team 😅
Just read about this in Chris’s book
So where's the watch along??? Also, august 5, 1994 isnt on the wwe network
I always hated Jericho. The reason was because of the WCW wrestling game for the Nintendo 64. I think the first one if there were multiple. Anyway, my friend used him and did the lion tamer move over and over and over and would gloat when winning, which was most of the time because it was his game, and he played it nonstop.
Lance Storm + thrillseeking = oxymoron...
The takeaway of this is they learned to WORK at the end of the day Jericho is still wrestling at a high level
Want to borrow my guide dog?
Denny Crum? There's a name I haven't heard since 19??.
I was shocked how badly Jericho was bleeding! It was on the scale of Eddie Guerrero vs. JBL after that Chair shot.
I remember when jimmy brought in Storm & Jericho to the barbourville area, great wrestlers and was always polite to talk to.. Good old days of Smokey Mountain wrestling. Jimmy was a nice guy too!
Hey why does Jericho look like Matt Riddle?
Lance never struck me as a pussy magnet even in his prime. He always came across as a strait laced overly serious neighborhood uncle.
Random cringe idea of the day: Raw Underground debuts a new wrestler named Gruff Hanson. He's an old fashioned guy from the south who's rough, tough, and has had enough.
....BUFF DADDAYYYY
This is fantastic!
Babatunde is rough, tough and probably has had enough
He’s rough and tough and had enough 😂😂😂😂 lmaoooo
Like for a corny aew reaction live-stream
Everyone says Lance Storm was so serious and had no personality but that was kinda his gimmick. When I've seen him in shoot interviews since he seems very personable with a good sense of humour. At the end of the day very good wrestler. I'll stick up for you Lance 👍😂
Is that Sebastian bach?
Lance Storm was underrated wrestler i have ever watched
Keep up with the watchalongs Jim and Brian!
"chris jericho great physique" is someone no one is saying recently
What do you look like at 50?
@@SmithCommaBenjamin that's not really the point is it? plenty of guys over 50 are in better shape than he is.
@v b Because he chooses not to shoot steroids like his peers? Jericho has never been a "body guy". That doesn't mean he's not an athlete, or ring general.
@@SmithCommaBenjamin exactly, not ever wrestler needs to be ripped or jacked. His body is fine especially for this persona
@@zakrowe1301 People also don't realize being ripped or jacked is decided by genetics and also doesn't mean good athletically.
Imagine Jericho vs Owen Hart in 96
The broken arm added to the sympathy. Great match.
It's a shame to see how far Jericho's career has fallen since his early days in SMW.
Corny For WWE/AEW CEO
If they did that It would have saved pro wrestling. But noooo 2020 needed to screw that too. 😞
Are you trying to get him killed? I guess AEW is young enough for him to save but the 100+ writers in WWE would probably give him a heart attack.
I'm a car guy I love the car they came in on😍
Really didn't like the basketball analogy. It's like saying, you can just get some actors and make them wrestlers. Bro.
CORNYS REVIEW OR OPINION OF THIS "RAW UNDERGROUND" Shit wwe has started
Don’t do shit u can’t do Dusty Rhodes
I like how Jim left out that he told people for years that Lance and Chris were gay.
🤦♂️ does that actually matter? No 😂
Proof that vince Russo is better
If jericho wouldn’t have broken his arm there might not have been an AEW. 😳
Somebody get a time machine
