- I'M BACK. Better late than never! 2017 had a metric ton of awesome games on everything (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), but I could only choose 10. Here were my favorites.

My personal favourite of 2017 (more like biggest surprise to be honest) is Prey. I haven't heard about this game until you guys at gameranx made a Before You Buy on it. I bought it for only 22 bucks a couple months later and I was amazed by how good it was. The amount of ways to get to your target, the interesting setting and story and just the general freedom the game gives you made it an extremely fun and (mildly) spooky adventure.

Prey is an amazing game but I think it doesn't give freedom as much as Dishonored or Deus Ex. But yeah story and level design is great.

I agree with you Xeno 2. It's really addictive and I am so glad I got a switch so I could play this. It's probably worth the price of the console in my opinion.

Blue It really should've won GOTY for sure! But I guess for some people the game was more special than others but tell me rn that how can you not love the story and the music of the game??

shivanash bhola zelda can just GTFO because you can't even compare the game! I mean me and my friend were arguing about whether Nier:Automata or Horizon Zero Dawn was better (this was b4 the both games got released) but both of us agreed for sure that Zelda is nowhere close to those 2 games!
I don't know why people hate xbc2. That game was amazing.

Mechanical_Meme Persona 5 is so fantastic. I’m at about the 60 hour mark right now and I’m in love with the game. It really picks up around the 5th hour but I love the beginning as well

Mechanical_Meme yeah it’s a 10/10 for me. As long as you don’t mind a lot of reading and some minor pacing issues than you are in for the most stylish game with the best soundtrack and an awesome engaging story with fun, challenging combat

I feel like Horizon Zero Dawn is the most under appreciated game in 2017.
Nabinani 777 I thought it was overrated, in my opinion. It didn’t really have much new. The world was amazing and so was the idea but I thought the gameplay and stealth was identical to many other console games.
Harry Nicholson well it’s the first wide-world game I’ve ever played and I felt there were a lot to explore in that game. And the story was very interesting to learn.

Harry Nicholson stealth is really not a big part of the gameplay it's something that you can use to get away if the machines fuck you up but the combat was really fun with the bow + spear and playing around with different elemental effects against the machines anf putting traps or even disarming them and using their own weapons against them ( the 2 disc launchers from the thunderjaws back). The gameplay and story were really refreshing and something different brought to the table, don't know what you have played mate
Admyr 6 Metal Gear Solid? Okay, the game was successful, but it’s just the media. I thought that there weren’t many that liked it.

Great list, most times I find that I don’t agree with what people think were the top games of whatever year. Yours however really hit everything that I was thinking and looking for aswell. Great to have you back jake.

This is so timely! The shittiness of the first quarter of 2018 has made me nostalgic for the simpler just badness of 2017, so this actually works for me. I loved Horizon and Origins in 2017. Shout out to Injustice 2 as well. Madden got a ton of hours for me because it’s Madden and I’ve loved it since 06.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is easily my number 1 for 2017. Have played through the story twice now, first time on co-op with a friend. Such a great rpg and easily one of my favorites.

This year was absoulutely insane in terms of quality releases. My top 4 games from this year (Super Mario Odyssey, BotW, Nier Automata and Persona 5) may just all be in my top 10 games ever.
Is it better to play Nier:Automata on controller, or a mouse? ( Might give me a reason to purchase a controller)
My favourite game of the year is one that sadly didn't get enough exposure.
A Hat in Time.
One of the best games I've played in years and it was sad to see reviewers not even give it a try, even when it was Overwhelmingly Positive on steam.
Wished Gameranx did a before you buy on it so more people experienced it, but then I wouldn't be surprised if they've never played it.
It's been a year and I am still devastated by NieR All-tomatoes...

Played the BotW until the end of the "water temple" and stopped. I don't know why, but I'll come back for sure, but just thought it was just a good game so far. Also the temple of the water beast was the most interesting thing I saw. It was awesome

Persona 5 was my first Persona game, and it is a god damn masterpiece.
Pretty great list to be honest. A few I have yet to play (like Nier and Hellblade, etc.) , but they're in the ole backlog. I'd probably put BotW at number 1 too, with Horizon close behind.
I personally loved Evil Within 2. Major improvement from the first one.
Was surprised to see no Mario, Persona or Horizon. Still a great list though
