It is a rare phenomenon to witness such a natural performer, without ego. Clothes don't make the person, heart and talent do. Tony Bennett is also a very humble person. No wonder they meld together so beautifully on their performances. What a beautiful gift for all of us.

Tony Bennett is my dad's favourite singer. We grew up with his stuff alongside the Beatles and all the great British pop at the time in the 60s. He loves k.d. too!
And he and my mum are still together, still in love, nearly 60 years later. How lucky my sisters and I are. Love you, you cranky, twisted, adorable things! xx

Thank you for posting. I had no idea how smooth KD Lang's voice is. She brings a new breath to a classic song. Her voice makes her seem like she is on a stage with a big band in the 40's or 50's. Wonderful.

I've been listening to Tony Bennett sing all my life, and I love it as much as I ever did. Maybe more. There is real magic in his voice, you hear the lyrics as I'm sure the composer imagined they would be sung. Just pure magic.

Respect is not in the clothes that KD wears; it is in her words and actions. She clearly demonstrates respect for Tony. And, then she sings! What better way to show your respect to the master than to serenade one of his most famous songs? She caresses every note, and makes love to each syllable. Close your eyes and let her voice move through you...now, does it really matter what she is wearing?

I sang this this past weekend at a karaoke place. 1st time I ever sang it and I was complimented so much. It felt really good with the compliments. Thanks for posting this, I never would have tried it had I not heard KD Lang sing it as my pitch is about the same as hers.

I watched an interview with KD by Dame Edna. It was hilarious. Dame Edna asked KD, and when did you realize you were a Canadian. It was a great twist on words because of the way Edna lead up to the question. KD cracked up too.. the interview is on youtube. Dame Edna is another great talent.

I love this Tony Bennett song. I remember when it came out. I still have the 78 rpm record. We played it so much the hole in the center of the record has been reamed out! One of my favorite keepsakes!!!!

Does anyone else remember a promotional 45 RPM record that was available in the fifties sometime. This 45 had 4 Tony Bennett songs on each side like Because of You and Rags to Riches, Boulevard of Broken Dreams etc. I got my copy for 6 Pepsi bottle caps at a record store in Youngstown, Ohio.
