Great history. Was part of a revival where the lead pastor brought in the who’s who of the zoo rather then using his own staff and local leaders. Cool stuff happened for a while. However burn out, focus on celebrity pastors who couldn’t manifest anything. Eventually turned into nice services with not much happening.
Amazing to hear how John stewarded the presence and the stage. Such a great description of how charismatic churches are about sharing the pulpit!
God do it again! And do it bigger!

I am absolutely amazed how the presence of the Holy Spirit is asked to leave like an unruly guest at a dinner party. I continuously ask Him to be with me and my ministry. It’s all that I desire!!!!!!! Please come to my dwelling Holy Spirit! You are welcomed and appreciated and loved!!!

So agree with you! I invite him every day in my life in my family in my home,… I understand the Baptists though because they are afraid if he would come and mess everything up 😉. Then there’s no order and time plan anymore…. They are afraid to give up the control ! So sad. If you send the Holy Spirit away, the Father and Son leave as well. They are three in one

Robby you made a comment about not knowing what happened between Calvary Chapel and Foursquare. I can tell you what happened. My Grandparents, Floyd and Lois Nelson were the founding pastors of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. They had Foursquare roots but had left the denomination when in 1961 God called them again at that little recreation room at a trailer park in Costa Mesa. I would love to talk to you and share what happened that led to Chuck taking over.

Wow! Sounds interesting. I even read somewhere that Chuck Smith was a campaign manager for Paul Cain. If that is true, it seems so sad that Chuck would eventually resist all manifestations of the Holy Spirit and pretty much called anyone who operated in such giftings as false. I went to Calvary Chapel from 95-97. I never knew the original roots were full of these manifestations and signs and wonders and healings. They didn’t exist at all when I went there. Never even heard of Lonnie Frisbee. The only history we knew was that Chuck Smith welcomed in the hippies, and there was revival, but no mention of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

So interesting, because I read Claudio Friedzon’s book and he mentioned how he was greatly impacted by Benny Hinn, and the anointing fell on him after his visit with him. Then John Arnott went to Argentina and was given an impartation from Claudio. It is like a full circle.

Thanks for this ♥. I was in the Vancouver area Vineyards during the 90's where we were also in revival. I remember being unsure about Toronto and how they handled things even though we had plenty of our own stuff going on. But I did not understand anointing. None of us did, really. It was mostly about inner healing back then. I agreed with the decision to part ways at the time, but then felt the power and intimacy drain from our services. Some leaders fell into sin and factions, and my own family experienced heavy losses. I know from personal experience that this was probably not the best decision. I really appreciated hearing the story behind the scenes. Was touched by the prayer. Hopeful for the future. Bless you guys 🙏

I’m just frustrated and going to turn this off-😢- before I do- I have to add one more comment- as this man talks he acts like what was happening to them was so “unknown”- yet for 24-25 years it had been happening through the ministry Lonnie Frisbee was doing - worldwide- having all of these things happening- AND THEY KICKED HIM OUT!!!! They discredited him because they didn’t understand- and instead of “seeking to know” they used him- and spit him out!!! Then they want to get all of the credit and act all “holier then though”- like it was some “new thing”- instead of what God has been trying to do for years!!
Then they condensed it- tried to make it part of a religion- and it was quenched again!
Just for fyi- I have 27 years of experience through cavalry chapel and the vineyard- so I am truly speaking from a testimony- and it breaks my heart- not to be critical- but praying some things were learned- and it will be different!!!
God is trying yet again- we will listen!!!???

I remember this well. Total turnaround for me as I was just coming out from an year prodigal period in my life. I had been invited in early 1994, February I think, to a conference at what is now the Houston Vineyard to hear Rich Nathan speak. When he called folks down for prayer, when he prayed people started falling down, and he was completely surprised by it. Shortly after than the Vineyard pastors went to Toronto to check it out. They came back with amazing stories. But more than that, there was a power that came with it. I remember being touched personally in March/April of 1994 and following. It has had a huge impact on me all these years since. I'm so glad for this interview. I did not know the story behind the split between the Vineyard and Toronto, though I'd heard numerous rumors. I think this interview was very important to better know how to steward the upcoming move of God. Thank you, Robbie for this and similar interviews along this theme.

The move of God that began in the 1990s in various locations suddenly ended on 9/11/2001. All of them! The Howard-Browne revival meetings, Brownsville (at Pensacola FL), Toronto, Smithton (Missouri). They all ended suddenly on that day. It still makes me sad today, because those were very supernatural days of glory at those places. By the way, the fire that was taken and ignited at both Pensacola and Toronto was taken to those places by men who had just attended Rodney Howard-Browne's meetings at Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London England. Rodney's meetings were where it ALL began.
