Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

Ice Cube Hip Hop run is insane.
1. Really Doe
2. Ghetto Bird
3. You Know How we do it
You said it, @adriansmith4064. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt -- & for being a member of the channel. You help make what we do possible.
My favorite album of any of the NWA solo albums
1) You Know How We Do It
2) What Can I Do?
3) Really Doe
Interesting, @TheMicklachey. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Classic album! 1. You know how we do it. 2. Really Doe. 3. What can I do. When I get to heaven.
Strong selections right there, @jasonisjasondoes. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
1.) What Can I Do?
2.) Make It Ruff, Make It Smooth Feat. K-Dee
3.) When I Get To Heaven
Three great tracks, @overstandinggod3410. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
“Lil ass G”, of course because I was on it. I was the lil ass G in the interlude talking ish 💯
Nice, @hardstar6968. That's a great one. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
BOOTLEGS & B-SIDES was a sick release too. So many crazy nice tunes on the compilation.
Agreed, @marksuckaturd5098. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
The first three tracks easily, doesn’t get better with Cube than that for me. And I don’t agree with people saying this was the start of his decline it was just the end of an era
also with "THE SHOT" intro my favorite intro is the one for "WHAT CAN I DO?" , which I believe says, "IN ANY COUNTRY... PRISON IS WHERE SOCIETY SENDS ITS FAILURES, BUT IN THIS COUNTRY.. SOCIETY ITSELF IS FAILURE."
Powerful statement, @Podcast409. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
It is a tragedy that only 980 something have seen this video, kids these days have no idea - keep up the great work guys
My favourite song was Bop Gun because the best was bumpin and I saw the video late night on tv on Rage back in the late 90s (a rarity in Australia at the time!), also loved Ghetto Bird, had no idea what a Ghetto Bird was before that lol
We're glad you enjoyed the video, @weidogg. Funny about "Ghetto Bird." Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Favorite Ice Cube album
It's a great LP, @marksantosLbC. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Make it ruff make smooth ft. K-DEE!
A Fantastic song on an underrated album!
@@jbwuzhere6819 K-dee really brought that song out really smooth!
That's an underrated gem, @loweazy. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
You said it, @jbwuzhere6819. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
@@UniqueAccessEnt No problem Soren always tapping in!
1. Really Doe 2. Make it Ruff, Make it Smooth 3. Bop Gun
Nice picks, @SmokingDragon100. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
This is my ICE-CUBE Lethal Injection album top 3 songs
1. Ghetto Bird
2. Really Doe
3. You Know How We Do It
Also one of my favorite songs from that album is track No.4
That's a great Top 3, @aaronj.brooks1977. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Another no skip album from Hip-Hop's past... my 3 favs are Ghetto Bird, What Can I Do? and Really Doe...
Three classics, @IceManLikeGervin. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I was so excited when I seen this album pop up on your page! I am one of the biggest Cube fans you’ll ever run across and I never understood all the hate Lethal Injection gets. Very few debates in hip hop get me more frustrated. In fact, In my opinion LE is better than Predator by a good margin. The Predator’s beat selection and production seemed slightly dated to me when it came out.( released less than a month apart from the Chronic mind you.) To see Cube embracing the GFunk sound on LE was dope af to me.
Part of the criticism of this album is the narrative that Cube strayed away from the socio-political content found on his earlier albums. BS! It was still found in abundance on this album..just his aggressiveness while delivering the messages was smoothed out a little. The times called for it.
With that said
LE is a 5 mic classic. No skippable joints.
At any rate my top 3 tracks are the same as Soren’s.
What can I do? Is especially high on my all time Cube tracks list.
Salute to you both. Keep bringing back the memories. 🫡
Much appreciated, @crookedthacon. "Lethal Injection" is indeed a great LP. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
That Lethal Injection is a problem, full of bangers.
Agreed, @mozzarellarick7537. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
1. Down For Whatever
2. Cave B
3. Bop Gun
Great three right here, @TonyVega123. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Really Doe, down for whatever, you know how we do it
Great picks, @Aaron-rk5kl. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
1. Cave B 2. You know how we do it 3. Really Doe
Three powerful picks, @LOYAL4YA. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Awesome Classic Album 💯
1. U Know How We Do It
2. Really Doe
3. Ghetto Bird
You & #AmirRahimi have the same 3 picks, @derrickmallory8877. Great ones. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but this may be my favorite Cube album.
1. Down for Whatever
2. Really Doe
3. Ghetto Bird
Honorable mentions 'cause this album is too good; You Know How We Do It, Cave Bitch, What Can I Do? & Make It Ruff, Make It Smooth
Interesting, @ibzuck2345. Great picks, too. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
It’s my favorite ice cube album too!
Thx for your awesome content...Much love from Germany
Much appreciated, @ronnyjoseph7015. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
great stuff man
Much appreciated, @organicthebladerunner7382. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
When music videos were short movies. 90's hiphop
That was a great era indeed, @sgvproductionz2979. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Really Doe of course but I’m not seeing anyone mention Enemy. The beat and delivery are great the content may revolve around his prejudices but they’re pretty entertaining and harmless.
That's a great track too, @benweinstein7140. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
QDIII made music on the fresh prince of bel air show.
You both got great points but mine is
1. What can I do
2. Ghetto Bird
3. Really doe
Great picks, @LiAmZ2023. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
@@UniqueAccessEnt yeah
Track 5.
Essential listening for every athlete or musician, about to make it big: 😂🤣🤣😇
1: Track 5…
2: When I get to Heaven
3: Down for Whatever…
…this is my favorite album by Cube. 🫡. It went well with what MC Ren was putting out around the same time…!
Really doe 🤔
Comedy, @dr.dionpeoples. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
It's such a great song, @linoderond5898. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I agree with Soren
Great picks, @HogHead504. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I'M GLAD (BASICALLY) EVERYONE ELSE HERE AGREES THAT LETHAL INJECTION WAS THE LAST DOPE ALBUM AND THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF HIS INCREDIBLE RUN AFTER GOING SOLO.
WAR & PEACE WAS THE ALBUM/S I REFUSED TO BUY AND SUBSEQUENTLY ANYTHING HE DROPPED AFTER THAT. IT WAS THE ERA OF 'IN THE CLUB' TRACKS AND THE COMMERCIAL ROT (AND LACK OF SAMPLE BASED PRODUCTION) AND IT'S WHERE I PINPOINT CUBE FALLING OFF AS AN ARTIST WHILE FOCUSING ON BEING A SUPERSTAR INSTEAD OF AN ARTIST FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!
Dont get me wrong, there were some ill joints on the War disc especially but the direction I could see he (amd mainstream commerical rap itself) was clearly heading towards at that point in time.
That was so disappointing to see as a die hard fan.
You can miss me with that "You Can Do It" / "We Be Clubbin'" jiggy shit.
I disagree.....
Even tho Westside Connection "Bow Down"...was a group project ..
I still consider that a "Cube"album...
And that is sandwiched in between"Lethal Injection.......and War album..
Not to mention him popping up on other people's albums...and his homies..
Bow Down album was hard...he was basically banging on the Eastcoast....NYC....
The beats were cool ..
The chemistry of Cube,Mack and Wc was better than him in NWA..
So..I think that was his last great album....
The others after range from very good to good..
One thing Cube can always adapt
G-Funk was on the rise in 92-93...hence Lethal Injection....
Appearing on Mack 10s first album....Kausion...WC's...
The production just got better .
I don't particularly care for Cube on Crunk/trap beats...
So Raw Footage ..Iam the West ..and alot of tracks after...I don't listen to as much .
Lil Jon produced tracks on "Laugh now cry later...kinda bring that one down...a bit.
But that was the last Cube album .I thoroughly enjoyed...
"Club tracks" like
"Get Ignit" off Westside Connection "terrorist threats"album...was good
"Steal the Show" off Laugh now cry later was a good club track...
Yeah, @deezerbee81. Ice Cube put out a lot of great material after "Lethal Injection." Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
This the album that started his decline
Watching menace to society hearing what would become ghetto bird was surprising so I think ghetto bird is the best song then u know how we do it then probably bop gun or down for whatever
Cubes previous works were always strong this one didn't have that feel like he just took beats and concepts hurried and put it out definitely one of his weaker albums this and the peace disc peace was byfar his worse album followed by this or predator
Although we prefer some of his other LPs, this is still a great one, @JoeGain-pk3vz. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Peace ✌🏿 I Got The Same Shirt Soren Baker Except Mine Is Black. The Lethal Injection Was Cool. I Like A Lil A** (Remix) What Can I Do (Remix) Ghetto Bird.
Nice, @hassanburton669. That's a great shirt. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
When I Get To Heaven
Really Doe
What Can I Do
Three great songs, @cliffw1125. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
This is a solid album and I am a huge fan, but I knew something was off when he didn't start off with a "payback" opening line like the previous albums. Just didn't feel right.
We hear you, @jonmacbeth3424. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Really Doe, Lil Ass G, Ghetto Bird...
Nice three, @FoundationalAmericanBadass. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Lil azz gee Errie gumbo Mix by NO Joe is the hardest song on the album
That's a great one for sure, @user-Tripleggggggg. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Last Cube album I ever bought. I just lost interest in his albums--he's had songs since then I liked though.
It's a strong album, @purplebeard1526. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
@UniqueAccessEnt Ehhh his transition from gangster/socially conscious content to pimpin' and weed smoking just kind of put me off... Almost like he switched on purpose for sales...because all of his prior works didn't really have that flavor, even if weed started becoming prominent in The Predator.
We hear you, but it could also just be his evolution,
@purplebeard1526. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
One of the best rap albums of all time. Best Cube’s Album…. 1) You Know How We Do It 2) Ghetto Bird 3) What Can I Do….
Not even close to being his best or one of the best rap albums of all time. It had its strong cuts but overall it didn’t stand up to his first 2 or the one before it
@@mcmarcuschapman I just expressed my opinion. At least Predator sounds terrible compared to injection. Certificate & Kill At Will is also incredible. But 93 is Best for ME.
You & #SorenBaker have the same three picks,
@MrRekinco. Nice. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
People like what they like, @mcmarcuschapman. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
This is my least favorite Cube album, and it's still good - except for Cave B!tch - which is embarrassingly awful.
That's a great album for sure, @julianjessevideo. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
