The latest episode of Agatha all along is getting weird criticism for its runtime not being long enough despite it being a fairly common thing across all Marvel and Disney Plus shows.

I feel so bad for Alice. She couldn’t use her magic for ages, due to the curse, she then gets freed from it, with the help of her coven, and then her high priestess/leader, accidentally takes her power and kills her in the process.
I thought Jen was the one whose magic was binded?

@@EetusjrFeetus I thought she couldn’t bc if you look at her face after she starts blasting Agatha, it’s one of shock, or surprise, like she didn’t think it would happen. Which is why I assumed with the curse she couldn’t use her magic, cause we hadn’t seen her use it ever before now.
I liked this episode. Except for the fact that Alice died, that shit broke me

There’s something odd about this episode. Notice how we never saw what kind of trial it was going to be. In previous episodes, we always saw the phase of the moon on the door before each trial, and they even discussed it, which suggests it’s important to the writers. But in this episode, that detail was missing.
Another thing that stood out is the aspect ratio. In WandaVision and other MCU shows, aspect ratio shifts are very deliberate and reflect different time periods or realities. During the trials in this show, the aspect ratio changed to 16:9, signaling that we were in a different realm. However, in this episode, the aspect ratio didn’t change at all, remaining in the cinematic format typical of most MCU projects. Given how carefully these shifts are used, this seems intentional.
It makes me wonder could the whole episode be an illusion or a dream sequence? Maybe everyone is actually okay but trapped in some kind of dream state.
You could see the moon symbols on a window on the left of the door, think it was a new moon which probably correlates to spirit given that it was Agatha’s trial
I think we js weren’t able to see the moon cycles on the cause of how they had to run inside very quickly
I don't think so. The standard aspect must have remained due to the serious tone of the episode
This trial also had no clear goal. There was something for both Jennifer and Alice to overcome in their trials, we had a clear understanding what is needed to pass it. That something was challenging for each witch so far. But here...some flashbacks from Agatha's past we are not yet ready for. Agatha's backstory has not been yet told. So this episode was just about killing Alice for nothing in less than 22 minutes.
...and get some hype around Teen's identity of course.
@@Herksil the challenge was Agatha overcoming her fear of her mother, and setting up conflict for the next episode between Agatha and everyone else, due to her unintentionally killing Alice and taking her power.

For once alice felt joy, joy from being free of a curse. No demon on her shoulder unburdened and she died after feeling that joy. Aint fair, she deserves a longer life
For me, it was only "too short" in that wanting more of good thing is natural. Plenty happened, it wasn't excessively unlengthy in terms of run time, and there was good character development.
I know I'm in denial but what if Rio was late because she was trying to revive Alice😭
I completely agree, if the episode was extended to 40 minutes they would probably fill it with pointless filler dialogue to fit the space.
This episode was so good. And the timespan was enough

This episode was amazing.
Honestly, maybe if they showed more than told with Alice’s backstory, and of course with more time with her, her death would have hit harder for me in my opinion.

Here is the thing. For me the witches road is just a simple road where a house shows up.. i couldn’t see any magical there. That’s kinda lame. Everyone already knew who teen is. I wished that Agatha could’ve talk with her mom to add little bit of drama.
Yeah, nothing magical about a spiritual road existing in a magical plane that forces you to complete trials based on your past to help guide you to what you seek the most. Nah, no magic. Just some houses on a road. You right.
Nobody knew who teen was. some people had theories that he could be who he is, and there were many theories that he was someone else. Nothing pointed to one theory over another. And we still don't know if there's more to him. And there's still a lot of unanswered questions

It's weird to me that each witch gets a spotlight episode, but Agatha's was the shortest. They could have done a lot more with her backstory.
The rest of the season is dedicated to her character journey. The show isn’t about the trials on the road - it’s about Agatha’s character growth.

You do realize…we still have like a kazzilion amount of flashbacks that STILL HAVENT APPEARED MIND YOU and I promise you there is a whole episode dedicated to Agatha and her backstory only cuz ik shit that will appear later on 😭

It was definitely rushed. It’s not that not enough happened. It’s that too much happened in not enough time. All the Disney+ shows have this issue but it doesn’t mean it’s not a problem

As soon as she passed her trial she was free to kill off, the only thing keeping Jen alive was her healing knowledge
