    Please UA bring back this real beautiful UI design to the 1176 plugins ! The new updated ones look just flat and not singular/vintage anymore !

    Great video! Great to be able to actually hear the compression in an instructional video.

    It was nice plugins back in the day when they were released! Now competitors do a great job and I think as the original former of the best compressors in the world UAD has to continue good traditions with revealing V2 of these plugins to actually nail the sound of hardware!

      It's pathetic to take other people's opinions and copy/paste!
      Musically you must be limited in inspiration...

    I own all these from you guys but I'm just diving in and really trying to learn and this is a great tutorial that helps me know what I should be using each for, as well as how to actually apply them! Thank you guys at UA so much! Very happy customer of all your plugins, and please never stop making these incredibly helpful tutorials that help walk newbies like me through!
    Also, that track playing sounds like a really good song. What is the name and artist and can I buy the MP3 somewhere?

    I Just updated my plugins to the last version. New design is so bad. Really, now it looks like a toy. Previous one looked like a real thing. Please go back uad!!

    Its a Bit confusing because non of them has a threshold knob so does the Input knob Serves this function?

    • @UniversalAudio
      @UniversalAudio  2 роки тому +1

      1176s are "fixed threshold" compressors. And as ben said, raising the input "pushes" the signal into that fixed threshold.

  • @Knownwellenough
    @Knownwellenough 5 років тому +1

    Why do I have to always blast the input to get my needle to even wiggle?

    I do have one question though guys. (I just asked on someone another video from someone else but am hoping you guys can help me)
    One thing that is really stumping me, and perhaps you can help me. My understanding is that 'Ratio' in this case 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 20:1, the higher the number, the 'more compressing' is taking place. That's been my understanding as of now as I'm fairly new to understanding compressors. However, when using the UA 1176 AE (recommended for vocals) there is clearly more 'compression' I hear taking place the lower the numbers I go (4, down to 2 where it's most noticeable) and less as I move up with "20" being the softest, 'gentlest', and most mitigated form of compression I hear. Any idea why it seems to be that the opposite sounds true and renders less compression on higher ratio button (20) and most noticeable on '2'?

    Sorry to say, but I don't think the acoustic guitar sound good; rather unnatural and over compressed. Bass and vocals sound decent

    • @Cloud-xw8nk

      Imo acoustic guitar is tricky to compress and often best just left alone (unless the performance is really bad and needs controlling). I'd prefer an LA2A on an acoustic.

    This is soo crappy. I love my UAD plugs but i don't use them like the real thing most of the time. Why? Because they mis what the real thing does. Because they are way too slow.

      Yep, when they drive comp on the bass the distortion coming later than the original signal. It doesn't blend together, distortion sits on top of the signal(
