- Oddworld Lore: Junior Executives & Glukkon Gameplay is a video about Oddworld lore by pupbenny that takes a closer look at the Glukkons in charge of Soulstorm Brewery at the end of Oddworld Abe's Exoddus.
Oddworld was created by Lorne Lanning who founded Oddworld Inhabitants which has produced many games, Including Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Soulstorm. I find the Oddworld lore fascination and hope to bring the Oddworld universe to life by telling the story of it and it's characters, creatures and locations so that they can be explained and theorised about by delving into Oddworld theory and the lore of the universe of the Oddworld games!

Back when I was still learning how to format wiki pages, if the image used weren’t exact a certain dimension, the info box would be shaped weird. This is going back almost 2 decades lol
Also, at the time, it was hard to find good images for Glukkons and the image of the Junior Execs was the best quality and resolution I could find at the time. It was from one of the old Oddworld Inhabitants media gallery websites. If I recall, the same image is used to represent the Glukkons in the games manual (the one that came in the PS1 case). I’m honestly surprised that no one changed the image after all these years 😄
I always loved the internal consistency of the Glukkon anatomy before you even see what Mullock looks like underneath. You can SEE the natural bend to their elbows in their stances, but you assume its just them hunching over and that the armless silhouette is a visual gag.
Nope. These guys are just as weird as all the other freaks you encountered.
I guess Molluck is probably the most iconic Glukkon, but these guys aren't far behind. But so are Dripik, Aslik and Phleg.... Then again, I guess every Glukkon iconic. Eh, whatever. Just wanted to show these nameless Glukkons the appreciation they deserve before their untimely demise.
Also, I'm surprised I didn't mention that the Abe's Exoddus promotional image shows the blue-suited Glukkon with yellow eyes for some reason.
They have a lot of visual inconsistencies admittedly, great video though, watching through it rn.
Wait, so oddworld soulstorm of ps5 is a remake of this soulstorm?

Now I’m wondering how fast a Glukkon could run if they were unrestricted, full-sprint. Imagine how much distance they’d cover in each stride

@@alexanderberrones2165 Thinking about it, if they weren’t so prideful I wonder if the could actually be dangerous like an ostrich if they tried to physically fight back.
On a related note, would a Glukkon attacking like an Ostrich be them punching or kicking?
@@natalie6811 If their claws are sharp enough they could probably disembowel someone pretty easily. Their arms are also pretty long so their reach would be extremely dangerous too. I think it comes down to how effectively they can balance on one hand.
You've said Glukkons have hard time keeping their balance, even at their normal/walking speed. But don't forget the one controlling their mind: Abe. Maybe its more like Abe has difficulties to control a body with such a weird anatomy. Scarbs and Paramites seems to stay stable due to their 4 legs and low/average height, but Glukkons are very high compared to their body proportions. Long and thin legs holding body with massive head. It's not the same or even similar body shape Abe ever had to possess. (just came into my mind, according to one of your last videos, imagine Abe possessing Gloktigi)

FUN FACT: You mentioned the noise Glukkons made as they walked? In the original Xbox release of Munchs Oddysee, they still do! It’s more of a twinkling piano noise instead of a xylophone crescendo like in Exoddus. In the HD remake they got rid of this…as well as the iconic “sproing”ing sound Munchs movement made. Not sure why JAW thought this to be a good idea
OOH! That's good to know! It baffles me that they changed the sounds between different versions. They did the same in Stranger's Wrath too. It's makes it confusing sometimes, as if I have false memories lol.
@@pupbenny Yeah, remasters should really keep the game as faithful to its original roots. Removing some of those iconic sounds really take away from the cartoony “fun” feeling the game had going for it in the beginning. Another noise I remember the OG had but the HD remaster didn’t was the “boing” noise Abe made when he bounced off walls. It’s a small thing, but I remember those sounds so clearly from my childhood playthrough 😖
I kind of wished future games brought back the Glukkon possession gameplay, it’s such a cool way to test your knowledge of gamespeak commands but when it returned in Munch all you had to do was push a button, kind of a let down ngl.
Yeah, Munch seemed to simplify a lot of the gameplay elements, which is unfortunate. Such as how in the first two games if an enemy was different it was because they actually were different and did a different thing or had different behaviour or whatever. Each enemy was very interesting and unique. But in Munch, most enemies simply look different but are basically the same, just with their health and offensive statistics changed.

3:37 Just like a regular human suit...they are not super comfortable for moving freely but that's the cost to appear elegant. Or like high heels for women.

Кстати а как же младшие руководители из нового и вкусного или его ремейка в одисеи Эйба находящихся в начальной кастцене. Один из них в по иронии был одет в зеленый и кричал на Молака узнав о новом мясе . Отзывались о Молаке а после их показали только в самом конце и Эйб убивает их Шрайкулом.

Это очень хороший момент, лидеры «Нового и вкусного» и «Одиссеи Эйба» - очень интересные персонажи. Меня всегда восхищало то, как их можно увидеть в конце игры. Возможно, со временем я сделаю видео о них.)

Perhaps dedicate a whole video to the subtle and not so subtle commentary and critique of the economic aspects/impacts our beloved Oddworld eludes too in regards to our real life/reality. You’ve made a few comments here and there but a whole video would be wicked cool.
Am I the only one comparing the final newspaper from the good ending of Manch's Odyssey to the general economic crisis of 2008? Even the meaning of the words is the same. And Ironically +- at this time the Oddworld Inhabitants studio itself closed.

Bermit is a portmanteus of Bermuda, hermit crab, & vomit cuz uh idk it was just the first thing that came to mind for the green 1.
Urchox is a distorted shortening of Urchin cuz sea urchins are all defensive & prickly like the blue 1.
Belshat is just a distortion of Bullshit cuz the brown suit is brown and there is already a name like Aslik so...yeah...
Crazy coincidence. I watched an entire Exoddus gameplay yesterday (helps me sleep to hear soothing sounds of walking, especially by Sligs) and was thinking about the lesser ranked Glukkons.

Funny how was mix UP together into the facist trio of Mullock accusers xD. Also I wonder if next year Abe will be able to own Glukkons or something similar but together with Munch or the Stranger (Specially with the Grubbs and More!)

4:20 In the original Xbox version the Glukkon steps are like the xylophone you're talking about. Me and my sister would laugh at the walk cycle and sound effects when we got to those stages. The HD remaster replaced not only that sound effect but when munch bounces its a lot less pronounced in the remaster.
I actually like giving each of the main Glukkons in Exoddus an individual eye color whenever I draw them. I also prefer Aslik with green eyes but Phlegs orange eyes have really grown on me. I dunno, I guess each having their own eye color just makes them stand out even more 😅

For a minute or so of screen time these 3 glukkon's were definitely some of the most memorable characters from the series. My biggest gripe with soulstorm other than its jarring gameplay, was they lost this stellar characterization and the characters in soulstorm were just dull.
It would be nice to watch you play some of the games on the channel 😊

Can you do one about abe finding out his mom is a live and has to rescue her and knowing that Alf and Toby are his biological siblings and has the same mother how does he know did the keeper told him she's alive and being held a prisoners and used as a breeding cattle given birth to all moducken babies and makeing them work as slaves and using them as guine pigs and test subjects and the intro of showing them in contravasion camps was very disturbing in the short clips

starting to learn that Lanning talks alot. throughout all the games development he seems to continue make promises he cant keep. i was disappointed in new and tasty and soulstorm. the updated graphics did nothing for the atmosphere and I was hoping to hear more stories about the world. at least write some novels.
i remember reading about the quintology in the back of the manual of exodus. swear back then they claimed odysee and exodus are just part 1.

They do, they walk on their arms. They have short, useless legs that dangle below them. Their suit covers their entire body, rather than wearing pants.
