The idea of meeches still being around would be great. Like the Glukkens probably labeled as extinct due to simply not seeing them at the same place they been hunting them. Meeches would probably look much different than their long gone cousins
I second this notion. There's even a real-world precedent for stuff like that happening; there's a species of fish called the coelacanth, which is a fish that has remained virtually unchanged since prehistoric times. They dwell in very deep underwater caves, so for decades upon decades, people couldn't study, examine, or even see them. Naturally, after never seeing a single specimen, people just kind of assumed they'd all died off. So imagine the astonishment when a _live specimen_ of coelacanth was discovered (if memory serves, it was swimming under a recreational boat), just casually doing its thing. Needless to say, it caused quite the stir in the scientific and biologist communities. Granted, a prehistoric species being hard-to-reach is a lot different than a modern-day species that's been hunted to the brink of extinction (and possibly, _into_ extinction), but it's still a possible parallel. There's also the case of the Honshu wolf, native to what is now modern-day Japan; it's widely believed to be extinct, but there are still people who, to this day, swear up-and-down that they've seen live specimens.
Great. A lot of things I never knew. Something like the Glukkons and Mudokons were once living in harmony, until their hand showed up on the moon. Never heard about that. The only thing I missed were the Greeters. They‘re so creepy. Maybe someday you can also include them! Great work and thank you for new Oddworld knowledge!
I am not saying that the Glukkons are innocent but the mudokens really did have brought this upon themselves when they called themselves the best species. And I think that the Glukkons would not be the way they are if the mudokens weren't so egotistical.
@coolknight2622 not really the glukkons were also kinda way more egotistic compared to the mudokens and its more of out of jealousy that lead them that way 😗
I love your content. Your voice is more charismatic than Curious Archiwe. I can't wait to see all tomorrows redux audiobook on your Chanel. Have a nice day Beware the Qu
wow i cant belive you are a fan of oddworld too !. i played the first 2 games as a 7yo kid on playstation. The games we re so hard but i beat them in like 1 year or so xD
I have to say I appreciate this video it's always amazingly interesting to hear about the different species of the oddworld series my favorite creature was always the fuzzle
Oddworld is so good dude. The fact that it still to this day feels largely u fulfilled is what drives me nuts. There’s not nearly as much info as I would want to absorb. Still a great achievement in games
I’d love to see a good Glukkon. I imagine they could be almost graceful on their arms, almost like how the Skeksis were when they first split, being feathered and lithe before they came to disguise their withered forms with gaudy fabrics and jewellery
Something that always annoys me is when a game sets up lore like "the planet this game takes place on is literally 10 times the size of earth with land masses all over the place with God knows WHAT other kinds of lifeforms out there.......aaaaanyway, if you are expecting more on that in your lifetimes? Lol"
In which the oddworld games did in a way but takes it time slowly you can't navigate everything in single setting you have a thing called world buliding and there was going to be more but with microsoft being microsoft things didn't turn well after such a great game strangers wrath and ea wanted to buy the company and we all know how ea treats there studios when they bought them and lucky that didn't happen with oddworld inhabitants 😗
Those painted backgrounds of the first two are so damn great even to this day, when you threw the picture of the jungle up those orange tones gave me such nostalgia and love for those environs
Great video! Although, I do think you've left out the Outlaws, who somewhat form their own category beside natives, industrialists, wildlife. There even seem to be a few sub-species within the broader term of Outlaws.
If memory serves me, the Octigi Family is pronounced "Oct-ti-guy," while the Oktigi species is pronounced "Oct-tee-gee." Or maybe it's the other way around I can't recall precisely, but I know there is a difference in pronunciation. Not that I blame you for not knowing, I only know there's a difference from watching other videos about them~
I love how anti-corporation and anti-capitalist even if thag isnt the intention but seeing how this can be paralleled to events when it came out to today. Great video and i wish people realized the message of these games like fallout rather than taking it at face value.
I have never played this game, nor do I know anyone who has. However, the lore is great. I am the same way with 40K. Never played it, but the lore is awesome.
Bro what is a Gulk ? In oddworld soulstorm after the last level they talk about a new location and the name of a Spezies the gulks. I never hear about this maybay you ?
I kind of think we don't actually really know if the gabbits are natives, or some sort of combination bridging point between natives or wildlife, given since Munch is the LAST one, we don't know enough about them having and sort of settlement, or anything like that. I'm guessing by "Native" you mean they have things like, having societies, morals and stuff like that separating them from the wildlife species, and while Munch DOES have things like more advanced language, the fuzzels are kind of shown to have something similar even if it's not anywhere near as advance- and the fuzzles NOT being endangered and having proof of not really being rationalizing enough to count as "Native" kind of hints that Munch might just be some thing more akin to the STEEFS, whereas had they still be plentiful, they would still be social, and have probably been would greatly explain why Munch was able to talk to Fuzzles.
Its odd how many sapient species there are on one planet. I wonder if real planets exist like this. The universe is vast enough for it to happen on one planet atleast.
Why arent they expanding? Instead of something fresh and new (Squeeks Oddysee + 2 more Oddysee games, Hand of Odd, Ballad of Fangus Knot, etc.) we got New n Tasty and Soulstorm which were meh compared to their legacy. Instead of going deeper into the lore like Nolybab, Abes mom, Glukkon Queen etc. we get silence Did they drop Oddworld?
i didn't know that the gluckons did all this because the mudocons were supremacists. That's news to me; And makes the gluckons slightly more sympathetic.
I am not saying that the Glukkons are innocent but the mudokens really did have brought this upon themselves when they called themselves the best species. And I think that the Glukkons would not be the way they are if the mudokens weren't so egotistical.
@@BewareCast well if the Mudokens weren't so egotistical then maybe the Glukkons wouldn't have enslaved them but I ain't saying that what the Glukkons did were not horrific but if the mudokens didn't make the Glukkons mad and made them develop into an industrialist species then they'd still have harmony!
Again this is ridiculous logic. "It's the Mudokens fault that the Glukkons CHOSE to act the way they acted. The Mudokens said some WORDS that upset them!" That is not an excuse at all. If they didn't like what the Mudokens were saying they should have just told them to get lost and carried on with their lives. Everything that happened was entirely the Glukkons fault.

No problem, I hope you enjoy it

This series has always been intriguing to me. Only played Stranger's Wrath but definitely want to check out the other games.
MOM new beware the Qu video just dropped
Magog on the March! News you can use!!
I don’t know how to explain this, but you sound the narrator of a lovecraft narrator.
They remind me of the narrator in The Magnus Archive -- which is a huge compliment, his voice is wonderful.
The first game has intense nostalgia for me. This makes me want to play the entire series. Thank you

is the cry not for our souls statue a pre industralist glukon statue?

They look like something out of starship troopers
i think the beetle would be lower than the slurg? the one seen at the intro of munch.
they are surgically prevented from whistling while they work

So, clearly slugs, glukkons, and mudokons are like ants because they all have one mother
i wonder why are there no native slogs? shouldent slogs be owned by both sides?
Mudos is 79,260 miles long..
Is it just me or does the scrabs look like a creeper from mincraft🤔🤔
