I agree the noise cancellation does seem like you are underwater. Great review!

I agree about the underwater noise cancellation mode.
The thing that scares me is how much audio is picked up without noise cancellation on, it's like trying to use a condenser microphone thats set too hot in an apartment building and then being able to hear all of your neighbors pounding even though you don't hear it with your ears but maybe not as extreme. Now it seems like if you just have noise cancellation off and it's not too ridiculous where you film and use common sense you can definitely get by with editing in post if needed maybe doing some EQ and some light noise removal of sorts.
All the polar patterns are awesome, the way that it works is awesome, it's just such a great idea I feel like the noise cancellation is just a little strong especially when you go back and compare it to the ECM-B1M which is still the king in my eyes except for with that one you can't face your camera at something while you're talking behind the camera cause it sounds like shit so this kind of takes care of that as well as the handling sounds since that one is a loosey-goosey on the hot shoe AND that one i ridiculously large especially on a zv-e1 lol. Cheers thanks for the honest video theres not many honest ones of this mic out there for some reason.

Appreciate the comments. Sounds like you know a ton about audio. I just finished a video in Banff Canada look for that one. And my DJI lav mic freaked out in the cold and this one was rock solid. It saved my ass! I almost wish the noise cancellation could be turned down a bit. Thanks so much for your insightful comments.

@@jostalking thats exactly what should happen they need to tone it down some or allow user adjustability somehow maybe through the creator app (if thats even possible) or through a firmware update to scale it back a bit so its proper usable. Ill be on the lookout for your upcoming videos thanks!

I have had the Shure VP83 for a few years and it would be time for a change. This one looks good! Congratulations on the review!
