- Each year, the Paintress awakens to paint a cursed number upon her monolith, causing those of that age to fade into oblivion. As this number ticks down, more lives are erased, and the shadows of death loom ever closer to those who remain. This cycle must end.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a reactive turn-based RPG inspired by the lavish art and culture of France’s Belle Époque. You will step into the shoes of Gustave and his fellow Expeditioners, the brave souls determined to end the Paintress’ reign of death. Together, they will traverse breathtaking landscapes, encountering both deadly adversaries and powerful allies.

Ofc we have FF "fans" crying in the comments cuz 16 or 7R are not turn-based. 16 has ok combat, but 7R did perfectly the blend between action and ATB. FF has not been turn-based for 15 years, time to stop getting mad about it

Everyone believes in you guys. Please do our old hearts justice with this new game. Millions of people have been waiting for years for something like this.
Now this is a proper reveal trailer. Sick introduction to the world and tone, shows off a rad combat system, graces the eyes with some impeccable art direction and blesses the ears with fantastic tunes. So much packed into 2 minutes. Sublime.
As soon as I heard Ben Starr's voice, and saw it's a turn-based RPG, I was in. Such an amazing voice actor.

This game went straight to the top of my most anticipated games looks amazing. So many companies making excuses why there can't be a turn based game with realistic graphics glad to finally see more come out like Yakuza like a Dragon and Baldurs Gate 3 they turned out to be some of my favorite games ever.
Yeah, hopefully one day action combat dies off completely, so everyone has to play Turn based or none at all.

Don't think I've ever been this excited for a new IP after just the reveal trailer. The world looks beautiful, the music sounds great, the story sounds interesting and the main cast doesn't look like they fell from the ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down.

Gave me the same vibes as Lost Odyssey which is one of my favorites RPGs ever, suffice to say I'm in love with the concept, art direction and soundtrack, can't wait to see more of it, really cool to have a cast of grown adults in a turn based RPG for a change.
I get these vibes too and it makes me very excited. Lost Odyssey is a game that has a special place in my heart and I've been waiting for a sequel or at least a remaster for years. It sold me a Series X after all. This looks to be something of a spiritual successor, and I couldn't be happier. :)
Everyone involved in the making of this trailer, the music and the game should feel very proud of this, because it was astonishing. Damn near made me cry. What an incredible trailer.

Ben Starr voice + this gameplay just became a must play game for me.
This is the first time in a while I have been excited about cutting edge visuals in a game. I love how it’s being used to express an art style without trying to be super realistic to every pore and skin texture.
Also, the rest of the industry needs to take note from you and your marketing team on how to reveal a new game and cover everything I would want to know about the game to get hyped in a 2 minute trailer.
This is how I would have imagined Final Fantasy in the current day if Square Enix didn’t become trend chasers along the way and just evolved their turn based mechanics while sticking to their roots.
It feel like whiplash to see this game, thinking it was gonna be another First person/First Person shooter or something along those lines ONLY to see that it was actually a turn based RPG with timed hits and action commands and what not. I still can not believe this is a real game they showed off at the MIRCOSOFT SHOWCASE OF ALL THINGS! I am extremely excited to see a Western turn based RPG. I'm rooting for you guys and I hope this game is good and does well cause everything about it looks amazing!

1:11 has been living rent-free in my head since the trailer dropped. These attack animations have been the stuff I've been seeing in the imaginary fights I watch in my head.

I love me some 2D, HD-2D, and 2.5D rpgs, but HSR and this (3D games) definitely have a place in turn based RPGs too. I'd love to see a Final Fantasy like this, for instance.

The game stole the show for me, especially as a new IP. This is how you do a trailer, world building, give context to the story, amazing visuals, top notch voice acting/narration, SHOW GAMEPLAY. it's all there. 2025 can't come soon enough. thank you for believing in turn based RPGs

If I could have one wish, please consider crafting duels to be as strategic, thought-intensive, and tactically variable as possible (or at least have it as an additional, higher difficulty level option).
Modern turn-based RPGs are much too simplistic for players seasoned in the genre.
I’ll be honest this is probably the only game I’m excited about. I love weird, dark, mysterious RPG games. Has some resonance of fate, last remnant, and phantom dust feel, but all and all Reminds me of folklore. I loved that game. There’s something special here and I can’t wait to discover it.

I was honestly looking to see if anyone would mention the underrated gem that's Lost Odyssey and how it was one of the first games that came to my mind when seeing this trailer lol. I still wish they would port it to steam but it feels like the game was underappreciated.

With all the slop that was shown/announced over the last couple of days, Clair Obscur stood out in a positive way. Hopefully the game turns out well.

This game looks like a TRUE RPG, after my disappointment with Dragon Age wannabe Veilguard, watching this is so refreshing.

1:00 The gameplay is what hooked me. I hope the developers also consider FF13-2 as part of their inspiration. I always liked how they took the camera-angles during battles to the next level to really make it feel cinematic and intense. They nailed the Persona -like UI perfectly! Lost Odyssey and Legend of Dragoon fans are gonna eat good in 2025.

This is fantastic way to introduce to a new AAA game they start of with beautiful cinematic with amazing music(even tho UA-cam ruins it with copyright) but then show a little gameplay to the end of the reveal trailer. I’m already sold

I’ll never get over the tragedy of what assassins creed has become, so sad that it isn’t this special level of quality when it should be, but THANK YOU guys for doing your thing and going and making this beautiful ART for us and with such sick gameplay on top of it. My absolute favorite ps5 game and still the best of them all is returnal, and I can tell this is gonna be right up there with it. Maybe even top it 😳 can’t wait to play! Day one for sure

Everything about this is incredible.
It’s hard to articulate my feelings on how excited I am for every level of this lasagna of a game, the art and creative direction, story implications, environment, cinematic animations and Victor Borba on the vocals of an excellent soundtrack so far!

This gave me goosebumps. The landscapes, the enemy designs, the design of the action bar, the interactive timed based attacks(that remind me of Shadow Hearts ring system). Definitely wishlisted.
