Thanks for posting this video! It definitely got me on the right track. After installing the first one with this method, I found that it was actually easier to loosen the part securing the faucet handle to the counter and pulling the whole thing up, so that I could get my wrench around the bottom without having someone crawl underneath (there was very little space to maneuver).
Thanks for this video. We had a Kohler where the bonnet (the handle portion of the faucet) would not unscrew. We tried padding the handle area with inner tube rubber and applying pliers, but even that would not turn the handle portion (it also very slightly nicked the handle base). After undoing the faucet nut underneath the sink (itself a challenge), we pulled the whole handle assembly. For some reason that made the handle portion easier to unscrew. The problem with the handle portions is they are not well-shaped for wrenches.
Thank you! I tried removing mine and it would not budge. After reading the comments, I gave it another try. I pulled the entire assembly above the counter top, soaked it overnight with WD40 and it still took a herculean effort to break it free.
Thank you! Is there any way to know (for my Kohler Tub Cartridge) if it's 1/2" High Flow Valve or 3/4" High Flow Valve? They would require different size cartridges ex: 3/4" = part numbers: 1000187 (H) and 1000188 (C)
Any Suggestion on getting cartridge loose ? Tried both trick you showed and it refuses to budge. For the top part I used Vinegar and it helped with loosing of other parts on this Kohler fixture but not the cartridge . Strong attempts at loosing without counter measures only turns the fixture with pipes attached.
I just saw your question. Liquid Wrench over night. Then you must use the right size socket wrench on the cartridge and the right size wrench on the nut on the underside of the sink. On one of my cartridges I had to use a lot of force and get a neighbor to hold the open end wrench. If that falls then you have to call a plumber. How did you finally solve your problem?
Great video thank you. Does it make a difference hot vs cold side, which direction the cartridges loosen? Both of fhem counter clockwise to unscrew? Thanks again
Yes. With this particular cartridge, there is a right and left model. You have to be careful that you buy one for each side and put them in correctly. Some devices allow you to reverse a ring to make the device either the right or left side.
I have the same issue, except cold side. Video is very helpful. But is there any repairing the cartridge vs replacement? Maybe a soak in vinegar and hot water? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
Do you have the brand name of the faucet itself? My handle is leaking from the top and I think I need to replace the handle, not the cartridge. But I don’t know the name of the faucet to look up a replacement part.
.. I learned that I need an assistant to get under stuff or disassemble everything the hard way as usual so I can use two hands to take the old cartridge out... 😂🎉
What is the brand name and model number of the faucet and the cartridge part number if you have it. I have the same one from early 2000s but no paperwork on it. thank you

Thank you. Experiencing a small leak in the exact same handle. You’re a lifesaver.

Thanks for sharing this video! Do you happen to know what model or model number of this Kohler faucet??

Thank you! Just what I needed.
Glad to be of help.
I replaced my first faucet cartridge thanks to this video.
Thank you very much. All I was missing was how to secure it underneath.
Glad to be of help.

The hot vs cold is clockwise close vs counterclockwise. But does the cartridge and cover have opposite threads also?
Thanks you rock

Certainly worth a try. Thanks for commenting.

I have the same faucet. It's Kohler "Stillness" I'm not sure of the model #. You should be able to find that on the Kohler website.
If you call Kohler they will mail you a replacement cartridge for free;)
Really? Thanks for the great tip. As noted the cartridges are fragile. I had to replace two of mine.JLB
