    Bravo! Beautiful job! The last handful of faucets I replaced I couldn’t get the drain collar or the nut below the sink to unscrew bc they were so corroded. I ended up cutting them off with a Dremel metal cutting wheel.

    Some time ago I got a bathroom sink faucet with this drain piece. I replaced the faucet but didn't know how to replace the drain part so I left the old one. Now I might replace that too.

    What do you do with the old sink stopper pivot rod? If you remove it there is a hole in the faucet. If you keep it there, people get confused that it doesn't do anything.

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  10 місяців тому +1

      Depends on your faucet.
      Some people have me leave a hole, others have me leave the rod.

    Did you connect the new piece to anything under the sink or does it just sit loosely in the pvc pipe below the sink?

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  10 місяців тому

      Yes. Unfortunately my camera devices are limited, but if you listen I show the nut and washers that go under the sink.

    I applied plumbers putty all around the flange as you show. I'm not getting any water to drip from any of the connections, pan left on the bottom of the vanity is always dry. But, after several weeks of use, I can still feel a trace of moisture around the rubber gasket against the bottom of the sink. Very frustrating, I hate the thought of taking everything apart! Any suggestions?

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  3 місяці тому

      There's a sweet spot of tightness with any drain gasket. Under tightening, it will leak, overtightening, it will leak. I'd suggest tightening just 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn. If it's super tight try loosening 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn.

    Can you help me here and advise how to adjust the pop up lid not to allow the water to go through in a closed down position? Or it is with a defect? But my husband set two drain in and both of them don’t keep the water in my sinks…🤦🏼‍♀️ thank you

      @@elitehandyman911 we screwed the both pop up stoppers tightest as we could inside their system, screw them back down into the drain pipe but they still both leak the water… The rubbers look ok, not defected. I think the pop-up stoppers are defected… I need to exchange them in the store then. Thank you.

  • @jagerking7020

    1 Think you forgot to mention. - If you screw the collar all the way down on these the clicker will not hold water, you have to unscrew the main pipe until it clicks down and makes a seal. I was a dumbass and thought mine was defective becuase it would not hold water when everything was screwed in all the way.

    • @elitehandyman911

      It sounds like you may have a replacement clicker stopper stem that's too short.

    What do I do if water leaks from the threads under the sink. The nut is very tight and I am afraid to crack the sink. Suggestions???

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  Рік тому +1

      It's possible you over tightened the nut which deforms the large rubber washer.
      Try loosening it slowly with water running and see if it helps.

    • @milesmccoy8846
      @milesmccoy8846 Рік тому +1

      @@elitehandyman911 That did not alleviate the dripping issue. I took it all apart and added plumbers tape on the threads where the rubber gasket contacts the metal. That fixed the issue. Thanks for the input. I really do appreciate it!

    • @mcgeorgerl
      @mcgeorgerl 11 місяців тому +1

      Glad to hear you got the issue resolved. I'm finding more and more plumbers are either using plumber's putty or Teflon tape in the area where the conical rubber seal fits on the tube because the rubber won't push into the fine threads well enough to seal unpressurized drain water. I use Teflon tape because I can get about 4 or 5 tight wraps to seal into the threads. They're doing this to prevent call-backs and facing unhappy customers or builders because of the all-too-common water damage to vanities made of MDF or particle board.

    Ok, my husband just installed this drain to our brand new sink. No matter what he does, he pushes the stopper down and it won’t hold water. He has used the plumbers putty and there are no leaks with the stopper is up. Can you tell me why this might be happening?

    • @pamhunter9617
      @pamhunter9617 3 місяці тому

      Also, the stopper won’t close and stay closed…….did we get defective merchandise? We bought two and neither one are working properly. Very frustrating.

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  3 місяці тому

      I'm not sure what the issue could be. I've never heard of this problem with these drains. The only thing I can think of is if the rubber gasket isn't seated properly on the stopper piece.

  • @carguy1312
    @carguy1312 7 місяців тому +2

    Is the putty really necessary nowadays with the rubber gaskets?

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  7 місяців тому +1

      It really depends on the design of the stopper tailpiece and the sink bowl. Many newer products are going to rubber gaskets.

    Good video and excellent information but! You said in minutes? This is a on your knees, under the sink pain in the back job! If everything go's well you might be one in 30 minutes. When I read minutes I thought it was a new pop-up gadget that would unscrew and pop in.
