I was 15 and a freshman in high school…my older sibling saw SW in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and while she and her husband were visiting tried her best to describe this si-if movie in theaters! So later that summer Star Wars came to that theater near me, and it impacted me forever! That’s for sharing your story Jamie!
Thank you for sharing this 💗 I was born in 1995. The earliest memory I can recall of discovering Star Wars was my dad’s original trilogy VHS tapes. I just remember being captivated and in awe. The part that I remember being very special to me as a kid was where Obi-Wan says “You must do what you feel is right of course.” I enjoyed the wisdom of Star Wars. My first SW film I was able to see in theaters was Revenge of the Sith when I was 9. I remember crying upon finding out how Darth Vader came to be, I disliked him in 4-6 but I then felt sympathy and sad for him after seeing ep3 and my love for Star Wars exploded after that
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing your Star Wars origin story. It is always fascinating to hear what it is about this franchise that captures people’s imaginations.
Cracking video mate. I saw Star Wars with my dad in 1978 when it was released in the U.K. Like almost everyone else from our era, it was mindblowing, and has remained a cherished memory. We were all TRULY blessed to have experienced such a worldwide, culture altering event as young people, and it gave us all something precious that we carry through our lives. May the force be with us!❤
The first time I saw Star Wars was at a Drive Inn. Spectacular and larger than life on the big screen. It totally blew me away and I have been trying to get that same feeling back, this is why we recreate Room builds, dioramas, cosplay, and props. We want to get close to the same feeling we had back then watching Star Wars for the first time. Such a cool video Jamie! Relaxed and very informative. With this kind of production I could watch a 3 hour documentary at this pace. Thanks for that!
Great Video Jamie. Very cool origin story for your Star Wars Experience. As for myself, I remember going to the Drive In theater to see Star Wars at a very early age. i grew up in a home of modest means, so sticks were my lightsabers and blasters....and pinecones were thermal grenades. I had a few star wars action figures from the $1 turnstiles from the grocery store, but I really had fun bringing my few toys to my friends house nearby. His mother worked at Hasbro, so he got to go test toys all the time. When you test them you get to keep them...he had all kinds of star wars toys...some that never came to market. And I remember waiting in line with my Dad around the block waiting to watch Return of the Jedi. Great Memories. And I kept the Star Wars experience going with my kids.
I was 11 in Upstate NY. Saw it at an opening matinee. Was completely in awe from opening crawl -the orchestra music the the HUGE spaceship both rumbling the chest …just emotionally overwhelming My mother was a good seamstress so she made my brother a Jawa costume that year for Halloween too. In subsequent years I would attend the subsequent movies in space buns and my R2D2 and C-3PO earrings -wearing one of each which was considered avant guard for the time I had no idea that one day I would live down the highway from Skywalker Ranch and drive by the exit every day I even met a Star Wars model maker at a party …and I live on the extension of the road that American Graffiti was filmed on … I also have glass art from the same Benicia glassblower who was commissioned to make a chandelier at Skywalker Ranch
Hi I saw Star Wars for the 1st time in May of 1977 at the Chinese theater in west Hollywood. I was living in West Hollywood and me and a friend saw the Star Wars Marquette out front of the theater. Like you we had never seen special effects like that. There was no waiting in line cause we could wait for a show on a mantiney.
Saw Star Wars at the age of 10 at the old Capitol Theater in Charleston WV. Went with a group of friends from the neighborhood and my best friends dad drove all of us in an old van. To us, that movie was pure magic.. it sparked the imagination to where we went home and made lightsabers, blasters, and uniforms out of whatever we could find. I eventually saw Star Wars (long before it was called a New Hope) 22 times in the theaters. I sure hope Disney can learn to catch that same lightning in a bottle for all of us old enough to remember how it was when it was all new…
I was 11 when I saw Star Wars at the movie theater. It was the first movie to have a real impact on me. I've been a fantasy/Sci-Fi guy ever since. I consume all Star Wars screen products and wait anxiously for the next! I remember having to wait 3 yrs between movies for the original trilogy. People are so lucky to have the plethora of Star Wars products that are in constant production now.
That is an impressionable age. What a great time to see Star Wars! Like you, I’ve been hooked ever since. We are lucky to have new Star Wars stories coming out in such abundance. I love all of it. It is a rich universe to participate in.
I was 11 when Star Wars came out, and this inspired my creative side to go out and buy the model kits available thereafter. However, I didn't just build them I added my own light kits to them as I was learning more about Electronics which would become a career path for me. In recent years I have got involved in designing wall panels for various projects and interiors of things like the Millennium Falcon cockpit which so many people inspire to create in their homes and garages. Things are a lot different now with the technology used to originally create things, but for me, the original Trilogy films set the standard.
Love this video. I honestly never knew a world without Star Wars. I vaguely remember when Return of the Jedi hit Theaters , and all the Ewok cartoons on TV later.
Right? We didn’t get to chose what we saw. Skywalker Sound did the sound effects for that movie, and they were working on it at the time, so that is what was screened.
@@TheOuterRim_ oh wow that’s pretty interesting if it was an ongoing project at the time. I didn’t know they did the sound on that movie. I loved it, but I was also a 5th grader at the time haha. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
I saw it at the landmark Rialto Theater in South Pas, when it was still operating as a theater. Definitely made an impression, as I’m sure it did for most people. I recall seeing it several times.

Those are some great memories. When I was young, using our imaginations was a big part of how we played too.

He created Star Wars
my childhood dream ranch , I hope to enter in this ranch and take care of George's horses and cook for Lucasfilm employees

I also saw it in Pasadena, but I don’t remember the name of the theater.
