Joe nails this. Obviously no one will ever be Eddie. But Joe manages to still be himself yet sound pretty awesome as Eddie. It's an impossible asking done about as professional as anyone could do. Well done.
I was in tears for the first three or four songs by how ridiculously perfect Joe pulled this off. Eddie himself would not have been able to even come close to it. I mean he was eating it up for breakfast lunch and dinner, and asking for more! Effortlessly!!!!! So impressed and proud of that cat
If I'm being honest, Joe is the superior guitarist. Eddie was incredible, but what he had transcended music itself. There is no replacement for Eddie, but Joe more than filled the shoes.
Joe Satriani is phenomenal. I saw him play in an Austin club the first time he ventured out of california many years ago and every guitar player in the club knew that he was on a different level. Jaw-dropping ability.
Remember people. This is a Sammy Hagar concert. Celebrating his career . If you expect a Van Halen you should've seen them back in the day like I did with my friends. You'll have a great time watching Sammy and the boys. I'm seeing him next month in Los Angeles
I know and I have to say, that is a bit misleading from Sammy. In the beginning he was all about giving a tribute to Eddie since no one had done it yet. But it was very clear just from watching the opening video that this is really about Sam and not Eddie 😢
I knew Joe would nail this gig. He understands guitar theory like no one else. He's an amazing player and a consummate professional. He definitely understands that part of why I love Eddis stuff is its just super fun to listen to ,AND especially super fun to play. Great tone here too.
Joe had special custom made amps specifically for this tour. Made by 3rd Power guitar amplifiers, these specially made amps were designed to perfectly replicate Eddies guitar tone from the 1986 '5150' tour. And they sound incredible!
And this here just confirms that Satch is the G.O.A.T! to play similar to EVH and still also keep his own signature sounds all while in his late 60's .. fucking legend
Saw Van Halen twice in the 80s. Walked into my wedding reception in 92 to Top of the World. My buddy is scheduled for cancer surgery next Monday, but he just had to see this show before then. So, tomorrow night well be in Hartford CT watch what i know will be an incredible show. I've never seen Sammy, Joe or Jason, so im stoked. Thanks for sharing this awesomeness!!👍🏻
That's awesome! I wish I saw Van Halen in the 80s. My first time seeing Van Halen was back in 1991. Wishing your buddy much success and all the best! Thanks for watching!
I am really glad for Joe Satriani. This guy, to me, is the greatest guitar player i've ever seen live. I've seen many guitarists in my lifetime. Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Frank Marino, Eric Johnson, Slash, Kirk Hammett, David Gilmour, Tony Iomni, and many many more. These are all fine and gifted guitarists in their own genre, but Joe really gave me the full essence and feel of what a guitar player can bring to a live audience. I hope Alex Van Halen can bring him on board with David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony and Wolfgang on keyboards to really finish the VH legacy !!! God bless you Joe. P.S. I am also glad for these fans on this current tour can finally see the unique talent of Joe's playing skills.
I've seen Satriani live 9 times. He is the GOAT of the instrument. Eddie is a close second, and I'd put Eric Johnson and David Gilmour tied at 3rd, although they're different styles.
Caught the 7/22 Show at Saratoga. Sammy and his All star band kicked ass from song one straight through. As previously mentioned in this chat no Van Halen concert here just Sammy's journey in Rock n Roll. Satchmo demonstrates why he one of leaders in his craft remember he has taught the likes of Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter, Kevin Cadogan, and Alex Skolnick along the way. Mike Anthony needs no introduction nor does Jason Bonham. Enjoyable !!!!
Just saw them last night in Upstate NY at SPAC and it was so amazing I am now looking to see them asap, in Ct, Tenn, or maybe Vegas for the last few nights.
Saw Van Halen in 95, front row, when they were special guests for Bon Jovi at Wembley Stadium. Just brilliant. I love Sammy, Christ, it blows my mind when we chat on Instagram!!! Just hope the show comes to the UK 🙌🙌🤘
When the tour was announced, I was thinking that the first song of the night could be the Montrose cover of "Good Rockin' Tonight". It could have been a cool nod to Ronnie Montrose and Elvis Presley...and set a tone for the rest of the evening.
Ok I love you Sammy but the party is over time to enjoy the rest of your life. You are singing really good but we have to leave the fire to the youth, remember those days 😂 actually I can't believe how awsome u guys sound, I guess I am jealous. I'm 64 and a hell of a guitarist but I will leave the singing to you and Mikey. He will eat anything 😂
Was the Kool and the Gang brief cover a bit of a troll for the ADKOT tour with Kool and the Gang supporting, which to be honest was a very odd concert two-some?
Hey. Well, the Sammy's show lasted about 2hrs 15mins or so. It ended at around 10:30 something (maybe slightly earlier)... I think they started at around 8:20-ish. I could be be wrong and I was there lol (I was just too happy to look at my watch when they came in).
It's not van halen....it's sammy and friends and it sounds freaking awesome. Saw them way back then many times, this sounds so fresh...amazing.way to relive the tunes , thank you boys !!
Love the group!! Love the tour! Didn’t like the set list much, I wish they would have played more popular songs including more of Sammy’s solo songs and older VH songs. Other than that, great show! Hats off to Satriani for getting as close to Eddie as possible
I got to see Van Halen (Hagar) 3 times…if I close my eyes and listen to the music, Eddie would be proud, Joe’s doing great.
They must be closed really tight

I concur. And if it sounds good on UA-cam. I can't wait til the party 🎉 coming up at PNC Holmdel!
@@lucky7mojoSeeing them tomorrow night in Hartford CT!!

YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT! Just saw them in Virginia on Saturday and loved it so much I'll catch them again in Jersey this weekend. :)
But I wasn’t alive ☹️
Just saw them at The Budweiser Stage in Toronto last night . THE BEST concert by far Ive been to
I know and I have to say, that is a bit misleading from Sammy. In the beginning he was all about giving a tribute to Eddie since no one had done it yet. But it was very clear just from watching the opening video that this is really about Sam and not Eddie 😢

Glad they are doing this tour...The Van Halen brothers are lucky to have their music represented properly
I'm glad to see that Jason has his dad's face on his bass drums.
Me too!
"5150" sounds GREAT! Satch is amazing 🎸

Walked into my wedding reception to 316. Chicago, IL.
Love that they played The Seventh Seal. Saw VH open with that back in '95 on the Balance Tour. Always thought it was a badass song.
Thank you so much for this. Long live the music of King Edward Van Halen
Loverboy and sammy HELLUVA A SHOW! BRISTOW, VA EVEN MY 13 YEAR OLD SON WAS ROCKING!
Wow I'm impressed Sammy. Great job everyone. 🎸🎶

Good sound on this one. Sammy sings slightly better here too than he's done at previous shows. Thanks for posting!
Anybody who says anything negative about these guys should get an old fashioned 300watt par up the old wazzooo😂

The boys are killing it .cheers to some good music 🍺
Sammy Hagar is amazing. The dudes gonna be 77 years old and he still got the pipes and the energy.
Just saw them last night in Upstate NY at SPAC and it was so amazing I am now looking to see them asap, in Ct, Tenn, or maybe Vegas for the last few nights.
Thank you for sharing this one the songs sound brand new AGAIN,,,!!!
The best shows ever!!! Sammy's rock is ever solid, and Mikey got it still after all these years.go guys go.
Sammy my man !!!! Phenomenal
SATCH IS ONE BAD MOTHER

Micheal Anthony’s head at 59:07 got me shook😮
What a band! Respect Joe! And Sammy is a badass!
Yeah!
Fantastic show. I was there at Jiffy Lube
Hearing the whole arena singing Top of the World - while the band is thundering through the song 🤘🤘.
Gotta admit I was entertained by this, good job Sammy
Nice to see mikey 😄
Judgement Day!!! Hell yeah!! 💯
I appreciate the greatness of it all but I would just be missing EVH---the GOAT.
Sweet tour!
Thanks Sammy for keeping Rock & Roll alive - and “Hats Off!” and a bow to Joe for getting Eddie’s tone and vib right. Respect the work.
Hagar’s pipes just won’t quit- what a beast!
5150 is...just fck....perfection
Exelent tour 👏👏👏👏
Should be more shred in The Seventh Seal on guitar in spots - like Eddie's trademark shred which Satch can easily do
JOE thank you you are one BAD MOTHER LOVE YOU
Anybody else think that keyboard player looks like a young Billy Connolly?
Minor correction: it's not Oh Yeah, but BIGFOOT! So glad they are doing different 'Foot songs. Thanks for posting, love it!
Thank you very much! Made the change 👍

Please come to Scotland 🏴

It would have been so much if Wolfie came out with them!
Wolf and Uncle Alex are certainly welcome to join the celebration
Best of all worlds except for Gary Charone’s world😢😢😢 EVH forever.
😂😂😂😂
Without you and Fire in the hole are great songs

I saw Satriani on his flying in a blue dream tour.,..
Where was this Concert?
Bristow, VA. In an amphitheater called Jiffy Lube Live. This is outside of Washington, DC.
The greatest VH Tribute Band EVER!!
Everyone sounds awesome, but I have to admit, Mikey is getting a bit strained. Nothing but love, tho!!
50% of the Van Hagar time are performing right now, so far from a tribute band.
@@97aaWolvesTrue
Sammy Hagar: 76 years old, performing for 2 fucking hours.
Most people that age are happy if they can get out of bed in the morning.
Where were the songs from A Different Kind of Truth??
@@KetchLambier Not that I can remember. The setlist is in the description. Thanks for watching.
@@stefansantana I was joking!
Has to be the worst summer nights intro I've heard lol., nice to hear the seventh seal tho lol
Love Joe, but yeah, the butchered that. Shouldve just used a capo if he insisted on not-using a guitar with a trans trem.
Didn't improve much from the Stern performance. In the words of Kevin Sorbo, Disappointed!
Dlr back to emt for you
Bonham needs to move that huge gong. It hides his big stick playing style. Shadow hides his energy
I think Joe needs to switch guitars for Summer Nights. I am not sure it works as well not on a Steinberger
Great cause , sure Sammy will make mega $$$. I had high expectations but it doesn’t sound close to VH. Bit of a letdown.
