    I have some wheat berries I found in my storage that I forgot about for 15 years. It's stored in a thick paper bag it came in. I recently tried sprouting them to make bread and they sprouted no problem and made good flour.

    We just got 6 jars of DRIED BEEF. Had seen a UA-cam video on foods needed during the Depression. I also remember my Mom fixing this when I was little. J.

    You could add Quinoa for some variety from the rice. And maybe add different flavors of bouillon to your spices.

      Is there a company, that you like/purchase, that has the nutritional value and taste? We do jerky etc, but it takes a lot of time. We really don't know what brand is reasonable in price, tastes good and is a reputable company. We'd greatly appreciate it.

      @@goingagainstthegrain Stick with Augason Farms and Mountain House. They have been around for many years and have a great selection.
      Freeze dried can last up to 30 years (not the floury-mixes, eggs, or butters).

    I have always wondered about canned food, which is dated. I ate C-rations in the Army that was over 30 years old. Would store canned beans, such as kidney, black, and red beans keep that long?

      I would only go about six months beyond the expiration, but that's just me. Beans can be stored dry, but will need water to rehydrate them later.

    I need to store my food better. I did buy the oxygen absorbers. Just made my list from this video of what I need to do. For shorter term, I like to buy tuna and canned beans, as they have a good shelf life. 2 years. But now I now from your video canned foods last indefinitely. Yay.

    • @DesertDweller74
      @DesertDweller74 Рік тому

      Be careful with "indefinitely" though. The best way to gauge it is how far past expiration they are, what do they smell and look like.
