I discovered Nido through your channel, and it is life changing. I don’t drink milk often, but I use it for cooking. Now, I’m never out of milk when I need it for a recipe, and I’m not wasting leftover milk either. I can’t imagine how much I’ve saved through this tip. I tell everyone about it. Thanks for sharing, AG! 👍🏻
We do the same at our house. It is perfect, we just make in small batches when needed.
I make up 2 cups and keep in a jar in refrig. I love Nido. I also like the Spanish section powder chicken and beef packets. I buy 1 pound of yeast and keep in a jar in refrig. It lasts forever. Soup mixes are also good.
After Christmas look for cocoa flavored mixed reduced for quick sale. You can use in recipes such as brownies instead of cocoa powder and reduce the sugar. I also look for the candied fruit on clearance.
So nice to hear, R Trif. That is exactly how I feel about the Nido milk.
Found out that Nido Fortificada is not 100% cows milk. It contains a lot of soy protein. Asked the company how much is soy, they said it’s their private company information and can’t reveal the percentage. If you’re sensitive to soy or want to avoid it (much of soy is GMO), then please be aware Nido isn’t all dairy milk.
@@joycedagostino6074 yep. They also have "contains bioengineered ingredients" right on the label. Seems like everything has that now. All corn and all soy are gmo.
You know what I love the best about your video tutorials is that you don't replay over and over again the same beginning introduction that lasts 3 to 4 minutes. That gets old real quick after seeing it 4 to 5 times that other you tubers do to their videos. You get right to the point and teach which I appreciate so much.
I love watching your videos.
I tend to skip others videos because of the annoying intros they constantly play over and over. Thank you for not doing that.
I appreciate that, Audrey.
Totally agree!
@@judywein3282
Ditto !!!
10000% agree
Finally someone gets it! I despise long intros, they’re pointless. It’s not like we need to get a sneak peak in order to decide whether we’re gonna turn the channel on the tv. We selected the video, so start it. People use them because it makes them feel legit. If 60 min has one, then I must as well. I needed to hear someone agree with me on that. I love you.
I live in Kenya half the year where there are no grocery stores. Just markets! I'm watching your videos and bringing your recommendations with me! I can get veggies, rice and one type of beans fairly easily, but everything else is impossible.
You need a buddy to mail you food.
@@Sabrina-01 it's soooo expensive and it is always stolen unless you send DHL. But DHL is like $140 just to send a document! I get two free checked bags up to 40lbs so I filled them with food 🤩 the rural locals never saw anyone bake a cake, popcorn, make cookies, rice Krispy treats or anything else. It's really fun. I get little kids coming over asking me for "Keki?" Which means "Cake??"
Get a dehydrator and you can always add dried fruits and veggies into your meals that way.
I like all of the powders you mentioned. I also like real lemon and real lime powder just mix it with your powdered butter and put it on your fish or any food you want a little citrus.
That's a great idea, I never thought to blend the powdered lemon or lime into the powdered butter for a citrus butter
Neat idea.
Great idea
I love the Tru Lemon, Tru Lime, Tru Watermelon, Tru Strawberry, Tru Mango, Tru Orange and Tru Peach packets.
A heads up, read the ingredients, sometimes they add things to powdered fruits.
The dictum "Keep your powder dry" takes on new meaning.
As long as we have electricity we can put chocolate in the freezer and it will store much longer than it otherwise would. Of course if a disaster leaves us without power and your freezer doesn't work any more the you are back to "normal" storage times.
Just make sure to eat the chocolate first in that grid down situation. Lol
I take powdered products and put them in Ball canning jars and vacuum seal them.
After I fill the jar I put a coffee filter on top and a moisture bag in and seal it. Good to go!!!
Stay Safe Everyone 👍👍👍
That is such a good idea! I have some of those products, but hesitate to buy the eggs and the like because the cans are so big. I'm prepping for myself, so once a can is opened, It would take a concerted effort to use up the rest of the product. But vacuum sealing them into maybe pint jars (now, while I have power and the time etc) is something to consider.
Same here, I buy those huge powdered Gateroade containers and break them down into pint size jars and put a cupcake liner on top before the lid, and then vacuum seal it. Keeps much longer.
@@felinespirits if you don't have power you can use a brake bleeder to vacuum the jars by hand. Rain Country and a couple other channels have videos showing how to do this.
Alaska Granny, you look a little too happy thinking about manipulating people with cups of coffee 😂
LOL! 🤭🤗
Also...potatoes. Potato flakes for thickening soups, putting in bread, and dozens of other uses.
Was lucky enough to find Knorrs bullion cubes at a salvage store. Both chicken and vegetable. 24 / 6 packs per box. $1 per box. Yes, that's 144 large bullion cubes for $1. I bought 2 of each. Great barter item.
Oh, wow!
Which store?!
Lucky find!
You guys are having a hard time finding Knorrs bouillon cubes? They are stacked to the roof here at Walmart in Norristown, PA
Great deal! Those vegetarian ones are almost impossible to find in the U.S. now.
If you like making your own noodles from flour, water and salt, you can also add some powdered dried vegetables to the noodle dough mix. This would make a pasta similar to the dried spinach pasta or mushroom pasta or tricolor pasta you see at the supermarket.
Great idea!
'Good idea!
I like to carefully grind up noodles by hand, then make them into different shaped noodles
Your grandchildren are very lucky to have you as their grandma!
Thanks for your sweet sentiment. I am truly blessed to have them in my life!!
Even in a grid down you can use the Jello to flavor drinking water. I've even used the orange Jello water to have kids drink to relieve the diarrhea. Something about it binds and its a good use for the littleS that can't have Imodium.
Interesting.
Yes, jello is safe for people who are dehydrated from a gut issue or post surgery as it is a clear liquid. You can drink it warm for a warming sugary energy booster or chill it and use it as a cooling treat. People who watch their carbs can utilize the sugar free versions. Also the instant puddings can be made with reconstituted powdered milk. It’s a great backpacking treat, as is the Jello cheesecake mix.
I couldn't remember where I saw it but I found the websites. It is the pectin that makes jello gel, which the pectin also helps to "gel" the waste.
The sugar in Jello can cause diarrhea.
I use warm jello with my granddaughters for tea party drink
The most common spices can be bought at the Dollar Tree. Spices are really important to make your rice & beans palatable.
I store Nido cans, even an open one, in my freezer--help get way past the use by date once opened!
I thought of a couple of things to add to the list; powdered bullion (I like the Knorr brand) and Gatorade. Having the electrolytes from the gator aide could be very helpful in a grid down situation where nutritional deficiencies might be common. Thanks for the great ideas AG!
I bought the bouillon cubes. After I open them Zi will put some moisture wicking packs in it.
These Knorr boullion powders come in large containers of chicken, tomato and beef too😊
@@AcornHillHomestead
They also have a Chicken/Tomato blend that I bought.
I like tomato powder. I can add it to soups, savory breads, tuna/mayo, and other things.
Make pasta sauce with it.
Nido is great. Boy, the cost has risen from %16 to $20. Wallie Mart is still on their expiration of 2023. So gonna wait until exp of 2024 comes out. I have plenty now. I used powdered Hoosier Farm Heavy Cream yesterday for chicken pot pie soup. Worked out well with some dehydrated vegetables. So far, I have 27 Auguson Farm cans..
Chicken pot pie soup is so good!
Just told someone buying fruit jars at Walmart about you a couple of days ago. Hope they remember to look up your channel. He said his wife was stocking up and canning and dehydrating everything she could. I need to make a deliberate "powdered food search" at Walmart next trip. This atmosphere we are living under is becoming incredibly thick like a fog you could cut with a knife on some days.
Thanks for sharing my channel.
They sell freeze dried fruit, those can be pulverized in a food processor into powder.
Don’t forget Amazon. Not everything is super expensive but it takes time to look for it. Being lactose intolerant, I was delighted to find soy milk powder there.
Thank you, very informative
I saw the cans at Walmart today and this is why I searched about them and this video is the first thing that popped up. We full time RV and this is an absolute great idea to make use of my storages better. It would clear my fridge out for sure.
Great additions to the pantries, AG! I add a tablespoon of the powdered cream and powdered butter to oatmeal and other foods to increase the calorie and fat content!
Powdered foods and seasonings are important to have in our stockpile. I hadn't thought about Jello, so I'll be adding that as well. So many great ideas! Take care! 💜
never thought I'd see the day when survival food is cheaper than the Supermarket? thx AG👍💨
Great video, AG! I have all the same powdered foods you showed, except the Nido Powdered Milk. I do have Augason Farms Morning Moo milk in regular and chocolate. I have lots of freeze dried coffee (to avoid the morning grumpies, LOL!) In addition to the #10 cans of Augason Butter, I have it in the pouches. I started buying the pouches when butter prices started to rise. Not using them yet, but every now and then I order one or two. I also have the Augason Farms bread & roll mix. I bought them when they were on sale for $7.95/can a few years ago. Their black bean burger mix is amazing! It's basically powdered beans and spices. So good! I love your videos because you share such good info and your subscribers share addition good info. It's time well spent watching and reading it all. TFS!
Thanks for sharing about the Augason Farms pouches. I need to try some of those.
I just finished making raspberries blueberries and strawberry powder. It's so fun to try different things
Sounds great!
How do you use the blueberry powder? I live in Blueberry Estates and after the large blueberry patch is harvested for sale we can pick as many as we want.
@@augustblue1297 I add mine to oatmeal, muffins, baked oatmeal, plain yogurt. But what I found is I need to sweeten it up a bit by adding Cane Sugar to it in my yogurt. I use both white sugar but am changing over to Cane as it’s better for you by not spiking your glucose levels like white sugar does. But any sugar will do for taste. Go to “The purposeful pantry” channel. Darcy has an incredible list of how to use it. 😀
Maybe you could mix it into J-ello.
Thank you, great ideas for me. I'm glad I got a few cans of whole powdered eggs before they nearly tripled in price. I didn't think about powdered butter. I love my butter, but didn't think about powdered butter. I will have to get that....definitely. Thanks for the suggestion, that didn't occur to me. There were several other things I didn't think of. Your videos are a great help to us! Thank you for all your hard work and preparation for these.
Yes, the butter is good.
My Walmart often has the butter in a smallish Mylar bag, as well as the #10 can. Keep meaning to open a bag to test it out…
I applaud all of your choices. I will add that although I have also kept most of my dehydrated vegetables whole, I have purposely dehydrated greens, especially spinach, specifically to add to potato powder/flakes as powder. I also might add broccoli, which dried VERY hard, but powdered would make a nice mix with potatoes and cheese, even to make it into a soup.
Nice suggestions, thanks.
I've been dehydrating a lot this winter but haven't tackled broccoli. Did you boil it to soft or blanch in before dehydrating it?
@@patches1483 I would blanch it, at least.I have mostly dehydrated frozen broccoli, so it is quite soft, but not 'cooked'.
I love these reminders and ideas. I recently discovered tomato bouillon which is a great addition to soups/stews. I got the huge jar at Sam's.
Interesting. I will look for that.
Thanks for the info. I had no idea there was such a thing but will look for it.
@@AlaskaGranny
Today at Walmart, they had a Tomato Chicken flavored powder. It was in the section where I found the large Nido can. I’ll get that next time ! 👍
The tomato chicken bouillon is great
I use that for my Mexican foods.
Thank you mam. Your have been Instrumental in me getting my 2 year Pantry. I love and have all of your recommendations! Thank you!
You are so welcome. What a comfort to know you have plenty to take care of your family.
Goyo makes good pork powder, great with beans, potato soups and casseroles.
I haven't seen that. Thanks, I'll look for it.
Interesting.
That's a good mix of Powdered Foods AG, wish we had Auguson Farms in UK.
I do have some Powdered Foods in our Pantry though, we have Eggs, Milk, Peanut butter, & Stocks, & Galaxy hot chocolate of course. Mmm.😋🍫
TFS AG, take care & keep busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶
It sounds like you have a nice variety.
@@AlaskaGranny 👍🤗❤🙂🐶
Don't forget to stockpile Auguson dehydrated fruits. Also, have a variety of oils, pastas and herbs in your stockpile of goodies. Stuff is expensive but I try to buy 1 bulk item per month if I can.
I've started putting diatomaceous earth in the bottom of good sealed containers and then setting a whole bag of rice in each one. I slit them so you can scoop the rice out as needed, but it doesn't mix with the earth. They say Diatomaceous earth is perfectly safe to ingest, but I've also heard it's 'not' so good for you. This protects from bugs, but still preserves the rice nicely. It's easier for me than using expensive oxygen absorbers which harden quickly and must be replaced. It's mice to see your pretty, cheerful smile here every day. 'God bless you!
I also have powdered honey, sour cream and buttermilk.
Hi Lisa - where did you buy these powders from? I'm just beginning my prep so I'm a newbie to where to find everything.
You always share such great information. Thank you. Stay safe.
Thank you SO much! I have LOVED your channel for quite some time! Getting ready for those Spam recipes you have !

Very great advice.
I love the Aguson farms and I reuse containers to store other things. I haven’t tried all of these products but I will. Definitely going to get that mixed cheese one😉.
I also bought some gator aide powder in a can. It’s taste great and is so good to have on the when you’ve been sick.

I love your channel and all information I'm going to try them when I go to Wal-Mart thank you so much
I got the mixed cheese, it is awful. No flavor and when I made the cheese sauce as directed it was like school paste.
Thanks so much for another great prepper video, AG! Hope you are doing good this new year. You look fabulous! ❤
Thanks so much, TreeAnnie. I appreciate your kind comment.
Love your tips and meal suggestions.
Glad you like them!
Thanks for this info on powdered foods and how to store them to last. Interesting for sure. Thank you AG :)
Good tips! I never thought about putting away some cocoa powder.
These are wonderful! We definitely have these in our stocks
I was so excited to hear about the egg replacer by bobs, red mill! I went and got a few bags as emergency back up two eggs in my baking. I think I may go back and get a bag or two to gift to relatives. Lol. Thank you for teaching us about all these things! Blessings.❤️
Another great video. I’ve been dehydrating greens and I add them to my oatmeal and eggs etc. thanks for the jello reminder. I will do that this week. Great idea. I’m focusing on long haul stuff at this point.

Nice to know. Where did you find a recipe?
Plz tell us more about how to make the yogurt…
Thank you!!!
Excellent advice... Thank you.
Thank you for your video.
Great list Granny.
I managed to dehydrate some scrambled eggs but nothing raw, ... yet.
I'm really going to try to keep my small flock of hens going for fresh eggs and barring all Foxes, Raccoons, Hawks, and Bird-Flu, ... I just might be able to do it too.
I'll soon have to let the rooster out with the hens again to make sure my eggs are fertile for hatching and I can only pray that my little red hen goes broody again because the incubator doesn't get the results that natural hatching does. I'm lucky to get a 50% hatch rate with the incubator.
I'm blessed to have a Bulk Barn Store that sells bulk Mac and Cheese Mix made with real cheese so I've been packing that stuff away in Mason jars with an oxygen absorber.
Then there was the time I found numerous plastic jars of grated Parmesan cheese in the dumpster. I was told that it didn't go bad and so far it's true. I just opened a jar that must be two years past its BBD and you'd never know it.
I only wish we had a local supply of that butter powder. I don't do much buying over the internet. So I've made Ghee and have plans to can some butter without clarifying it.
Have a great one Granny!
Wow, thanks for the tip to store Jello. I missed that one. Really easy to store for a very long time.
You are so welcome!
I have all of these powdered foods in my prepper pantry. I love Augason Farms. Even when prices were all over the place, theirs stayed even except for the things that there were shortages of.
I am very happy I stopped by your video. I can no longer get to the store and am missing many foods the milk and eggs being two. This is so helpful. I used to buy many of the packets you show here, but used up my stock pile over a year ago. Now I have new hope for something better to eat them ramen noodles!

You are so welcome. We can do this!
Hi Granny ! Wonderful video and information ! I’ve recently bought Tomato Powder which was a new find. Quite a lot of things you can do with it…. Make sauce, paste, ketchup, flavor other sauces. It was pretty pricey but nice to have on hand. Today bought cases of diced tomatoes, vegetables etc. Also picked up some staples from the church👍. At one point in time, I had a container of PB2 but gave it to my daughter. What was I thinking ! Bought Nido today as well, and they had PB powder but I passed on it today. There’s always next time ! Tfs Granny, love ALL your videos !
Nice ideas, thanks for sharing. Hopefully your daughter used the PB2!

Since you recommended Nido, I went and found 2 stores in my area that carries it. Good stuff, delicious in coffee. We dont drink milk, but cook with it on occasion. Nido is perfect, thanks!

I just put a batch of yogurt in the instant pot. I'm trying it with nido because I've read that it works and I wanted to test it out.

The egg replacer sounds like a good idea …I’ll look for it…thanks
My local grocer sells Crystal Farms parm. in a smaller container, and in my opinion it tastes better than the Kraft brand. I store a few in my freezer, if the power goes out for a long time they will still be good while sealed, and when I open them, they will stay fresh long enough until I use up the small amount.
Beautiful and varied items with great tips.

The Aug' powdered whole egg is superb. I use it all the time. I also love the Red Cow Whole Milk. I leave both in the freezer and take some out as I need it. hat way I get to use it regularly and gradually turnover my extra stash. Important to rotate along the way since the expiration date is relatively short for emergency food.

We stock Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa & use it regularly, especially in the winter. It is so easy to make, mix/hot water & we also add a little milk. COSTCO runs the 50 count box on sale regularly (approx. $6.00). The shelf life is good too, approx. 2 years. We store at least 3 unopened boxes at all times. We don't want to get caught without hot cocoa!
