Thank you for the compass information , my wife collects compasses. so it definitely gave me some advanced knowledge for our next compass shopping search
As a boy scout, we had Silva compasses. As an Army Ranger we were issued the Cammenga Lensatic compasses with tritium vials. I agree with you Ray, today my favorite is the Suunto MC-2, it is an excellent choice!! The magnifying glass is not very powerful but it can start an ember - depending on the tender source. And the mirror is handy for signaling and medical purposes, i.e. checking ones face, etc.
I have the M3G and the MC2G, love and use both. I mostly use the M3G depending on where I go. I also have the cammenga 27 as a backup in my backpack.
I have quite a few different ones myself. I circle back to this one quite often.

Ah good to know on the lense, you can tell it’s pretty weak so i didn’t have high hopes. And of course I use the mirror to fix my hair too.
Don't wast your time messing around. This is the compass you want to get. Just make sure to get the 360 degree one. Cheers.
It really is an awesome compass. And yes 100% agree, the non 360 ones are a different thing entirely.
