Remember my old man's allen scyth. Great machine even got to use it a few times. Might have of had a LITTLE vibration and wasn't poetically easy to keep straight but I would have been very young when we had it working. We used it to control the weeds on our 6 acres grazing land. It was better than using a hand scyth in the hot sun.
Hah only used an Allen Scythe once bloody lethal machines , i went through two trees just could.nt stop it , got a Fort Scythe mower now with a Honda Engine and Austrian cutter bar similiar to the Alko models paid around £ 650 if i remember right very pleased with it only thing is you have trouble seeing the end of the cutter bar i put a piece of metal rod on the ends of the blades to help locate the end i always worry about hedgehogs when i cut it as ive got a few here mmines also got a Deadmans handle on it
@@Charlyfarly2 I’m trying to buy an Al-Ko meadow scythe but they seem hard to get hold of and one website implied that they have discontinued manufacture, which seems rather odd and disappointing. Your video of one in operation was very useful, thank you.
Good day to you tom . I've got to say you really do make the most interesting videos I'm a mad angler so the fishing videos drew me in ,but !! The videos on the Allen scythe I really connected to as I acquired one ,and my god do I remember the dreadful thing in action ,on startup it was horrendous just to try grabbing the handles shaking back and forth ,so feeling brave I grabbed the handles flipped the lever and it was off ,,, shoulders pulled out of the sockets and it shook me so violently it took me days to get over ,I hurt allover ,so it's been parked up since . would you like to take ownership of it to show the viewers the huge comparison between the two ,yours being a fantastic machine compared to the Allen .

Do the instructions suggest you wear bedroom slippers while operating the scythe mower?
Only for demonstration purposes :)

Just a bit tricky assembling if delivered "strait from the box" (mainly due to minimal assembly instructions document) but works well and good value.
Is there a plough setting??? Was hoping to reseed with it
