      My experience with traffic court judges has been pretty good. I've beaten most traffic tickets, you just have to make sure to request discovery and learn how to cross examine the cop to trip him up.

      @@reallue Well, you're first problem is that the ONLY thing you are supposed to be paying attention to is what's in front of you, looking out for unexpected things - the whole reason that you're not supposed to drive faster than you can stop. Every driver's handbook tells you to look forward with your eyes scanning the road up ahead.
      Second problem you have is that in reverse, he's going nowehere near "full speed" and the whole maneuver the officer did took about 20 seconds.
      Your third and final problem is that in your haste to find something to pin on the cop - you completely neglect the obvious - On that side of the road, in reverse - the cop isn't going in the wrong direction and you passing him then he pulling in behind you is in no way dangerous.

    One of my neighbors was a NARC in Romulus. His whole department was involved theft racket. They were stealing confiscated drug dealer money and got busted but I think only one guy in the department actually went down for it. My neighbors frequent large winnings at the casino all of a sudden make sense.

      Former patrol deputy here. You could usually find something within two to three miles on an interstate or highway and within three or four blocks in a city or town if they're not obviously speeding. And you often found it sooner than that and that's not being too nitpicky.

      That is the plan for sure. They do that then create an arrest warrant and a license suspension for you, you never knew about. Then swoop in for an arrest. Happened exactly that way for a guy in Colorado who had filled a complaint after a BS traffic stop.

    9:30 - if dude was impeding actual traffic, then how is what the cop did safe and justified? At least dude was sitting stationary, cop was driving in reverse with significant speed.
    On 2nd watch, dude didn't come to a stop until AFTER he noticed the cop slowing to a stop in an OPPOSING lane of traffic. I would stop too because that's what defensive drivers are supposed to do.

    The kid clearly became a cop due his lack of confidence and self esteem. You can see it emanating from his mannerism and demeanor. I wouldn't go as far as to say the kid was bullied in school, but I will take a wild guess and say the kid feared authority in a socially crippling manner growing up. He couldn't conquer his fear of authority and confrontation so he joined the force. It explains why he didn't stand on his threats at the traffic stop and also why he didn't stand on his bluff and send that ticket in the mail, he was utterly terrified of the backlash he may receive from his superiors.
