11-Day-Old Holland Lop Babies and a Tiny Peanut Bunny
Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 січ 2016
- PLEASE READ (UPDATED FEB. 2017): A "peanut" baby bunny occurs when it receives two copies of the dwarf gene from its parents, and a true peanut cannot survive due to the pituitary gland not releasing enough growth hormone. Some small babies can be runts or "nano" babies and survive. For this reason, I gave the tiny baby in this video a chance to survive. It was nursed by its mother, handled gently, kept warm, and remarkably survived twelve days (passing the day after this video was filmed). Peanuts are very common in ALL dwarf rabbit breeds, it is not something desired (nor the result of an irresponsible breeding practice) but is simply a part of breeding dwarf breeds such as the Holland lop, mini rex, Netherland dwarf, mini satin, Polish, dwarf hotot, and more. This video is offered purely for educational value to those interested in rabbits. Thank you for the kind comments! :)

Loved the cat's eyes. Little peanut looked so cute. He's up in bunny heaven.
Marcia Borg SO basically he’s dEad?
@@overalldubs3463 Yes, the description says the bunny survived 12 days.
I'm curious how some cats in this context don't succumb to their predatory instincts and eat all the bunnies
@@xPaperDog
12 days?.... Little thing was a fighter.
Do peanuts ever survive?
Sad that it passed but happy it made it longer than most and that his last days where happy! Rest in Peace Peanut

from the looks of that little peanut he had wet tail.... in other words really bad runny poop poor little guy :(
Rest in Peanut
I didn't expect for the peanut to survive. It was so tiny, and it's legs looked malformed. That poor little thing.
sadly it won't last long. poor thing
Alexandra Luster 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Alexandra Luster my peanut survive it was black
I had a white peanut he died after 10 months
:'(
At least it didn't pass alone on the wire. It was snuggle in a nice warm basket with it's siblings. Nice job keeping Peanut comfy. Sorry for the loss. tfs
LilBit AtATime omg so true! ❤️
.
RIP little peanut :(
There once was a little peanut; planted with love; tiny and small; that never had time; to open at all.
Endymion766 that was beautiful
😭😭😭😭💔
That was deep af
Endymion766 wth stop making me cry
that's deep
My heart aches for the poor peanut. It was clear from how relaxed the mother was that you care for your rabbits a lot.
What a nice momma letting you handle her babies. My dwarfs never let me do that till they were much older.
Poor little peanut. RIP.😥
Usually peanut or nano babies don't survive for long after their birth, sad facts.
Dree PEANUT DIED?????
100,000 subscibers without any videos challenge actually some don't I own rabbits and have had peanuts about 2 out of the 10 peanutes from every batch I have ever had I've had 10 peanuts and 2 survived
mommy bunny is adorable as well as her babies!!!!!!!!!!:)
Good night 💤🌙😴
I love their little feet wiggling when they nurse!
0:35 I love that when she uncovers the babies the cat just walks away
Honestly this video made me cry. I had a Holland lop bunny and her name was Annie she looked exactly lake the mama and she was away at 9 mounts due to a heart attack. and i miss her so much
FluffCheekGirl So sorry for your loss
FluffCheekGirl phandom
FlufffCheekYee *me too. i still miss my 3 bunny babies. i can't bear to go thru the death process again that soon, so I have a Chihuahua mixed with Jack Russell terrier. he has a big pee pee & is funny*
Samii😭😭😭😭sad sad sad😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I’m so sorry!
What I did for my tiny runt was I manually fed her a bunch of baby cat milk from a bottle in addition to her being fed by her mother. I didn't think she'd survive but ironically, she grew to be the biggest bunny I've ever had XD. She still has slight deformities and she's blind in one eye. But she is very healthy otherwise. She is currently two and a half years old.
oh my goodness your cat is beautiful!
Rip little peanut. Im glad he had a chance. Im glad he passed in a warm comfy place surrounded by love
if Peanut is eleven days old that must mean the mother does feed them. I'd have thought they sort them out if something is not right.
It is interesting, as kits born dead, stretched/bruised severely, or malformed are often delivered on the wire or in the front of the nest box where it's cold, so the mothers are instinctive for the most part. Peanuts do look fairly normal and rarely get stuck since they're small, so perhaps that is why the moms don't reject them. My personal belief is that peanuts lack a proper digestive system to absorb and process nutrients needed to grow, among other system deficiencies.
Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops is the peanut still alive? Also thanks for sharing your videos.
Is this peanut okay?
When mothers give birth to dead kits, stretched. It is because the mother held out on labor too long, refused to push, and so they died in the canal and took her even longer to force them out eventually. These are usually always born late, and sometimes spread across a few days. Please check out my comment about the peanuts
theRealCrazyOne no. it passed away. says in the des
Oh they're so precious, poor little peanut.
Thank you for giving love to little precious Peanut while he was in the world! 🐰💖

I love that mother rabbits are so attentive to their children! Like when Anna stood up to check that the peanut was there
Awh. That little peanut. He was so cute. I am glad she had them with you and that he got all that love and kindness for as long as he could💞
I had what looked like a peanut Netherland dwarf at least he was the runt of the liter and half the size of his siblings. He took load of hands on care most of his life and had quite a few problems but lived for almost 7 years. Full grown my little Binky was about 1.5 pounds.
It probably wasn’t a peanut, just a runt. peanuts will always die soon after birth
I have a netherland dwarf and my sister does as well. Mine was sold as male and hers as female (from a breeder) but hers is bigger then mine. We read that the females are bigger than the males but hers humps mine any time they are near eachother. And my rabbit is not having it. Idk why, maybe if your a breeder you could give information about why?
@@nuggylikestheeggs Not a breeder, but I'd say that it's most likely a male. I've heard it is difficult to tell what sex rabbits are when young. My sister's vet for her rabbit incorrectly said that it was a female (has since been confirmed male and neutered).
@@nuggylikestheeggs humping is also about domincance. It's a way for the rabbits to show who is the most powerful. I only have female bunnies but they hump each other a lot too
Mis Bunny I have a peanut, I think. He’s very small..looks like a peanut,1 year old, very small and he’s deaf. When I got him from the Humane Society he was skinny and scrawny and all beat up with fur hanging! He was a mess. But he is the sweetest little guy! Not a mean bone in his little body! He’s doing so well now, filling out and nice shiny coat! Just love him❤️
If all humans were like you, the earth would be a true heaven. Bless little Peanut.
I love how they get so stuffed after they drink from their mommy 😂
Anna looks to be a very nice mom and Paisley is adorable. I am rather surprised that Paisley was so calm around Anna and that Anna let Paisley near her babies!
Poor peanut! That's the cutest thing ever. I agree I would try hard too to let them live! Thank you for sharing!
this just proves how well taken care of her rabbits are this channel and you are just amazing! :D
The mum rabbit is GORGEOUS and sweet! You're so lucky
Love your cat's eyes😻
beautiful right ?
Just sitting there rocking that heterochromia like it's nothing.
I loved the opening instrumental sound, it gives such positive Christmas feels. ❤️
I feel so sorry for the peanut. How can you deal with that? I guess when you are a farmer that goes with the territory. I am so in love with the bunnies that I keep writing notes. Don't want you to think I am some kind of kook; I am just a 77 year old grandmotherly type who loves the bunnies."
It is sad to lose any bunnies, especially a peanut that grows fur and begins to actually look cute or older bunnies that have such amazing personalities. Although I don't raise bunnies for food (or sell my pet bunnies as snake bait...it happens a lot), we do raise our own chickens, turkeys, eggs, and produce. While difficult at first, I have learned to appreciate the animals and plants and all that they provide for us. The end result is the same as purchased from the grocery store, but I tell myself that our animals at least lived pretty grand lives on organic feed and free-range. It is something you learn to deal with over time on a farm. I know not everyone agrees or can understand this philosophy though.
@@HooksHollands My family has a bunch of stray cats that live outside we feed and pet them but sadly they die a lot and it breaks my heart every time especially when a kitten or mama dies
@@daerbtac3968 Your family is comprised of heroes then! Thank you for helping the poor creatures!
@@HooksHollands well,so sad that there are almost no such owners for my favourite animals, although my grandad was one of them and I will!So he actually never even thought about getting any pets/animal friends one morning of just a regular day in far year 1956 and if one would have told him ever before that day whom þ
I'm 17 and a few years ago i bought a rabbit at a farm supply store (yes it was a domestic pet rabbit) and the man who sold them to us told us to feed them LOTS of alfalfa because they were only about a month old and we had never owned baby bunnies before. Sadly he died a few weeks later from bloat as a result of too much alfalfa (which is too hard to digest for the babies) but now I own a netherland dwarf (that we bought from a real local breeder) and he is very happy and healthy. Moral of the story is just because they are selling it doesnt mean they give the correct advice
Those are some precious little angels! ❤️
That peanut looks like a baby chipmunk, stay strong!
Anna is so cute, I just wanna snuggle her so much she's absolutely adorable x
We have a Holland Lop named Bugsy and we love him so much. I think we are going to give him a buddy soon. Your bunnies are beautiful!
Thankyou for showing the peanut bunny,I had never seen one, only heard of them. Poor little thing. I was suprised when you said 11 days because I knew 3 was the norm on them. Mom was very relaxed. She is a good mom. We have a Tort holland mini, male. he is three and is finally settling down a bit more, very loving. We got him fixed even though he is pedigree and we got him from a breeder( 4H) You have some beautiful rabbits and do a great job with all of them. they are so relaxed and happy.
Paisley is so beautiful! The blue-green heterochromia and snow-white fur is absolutely gorgeous! And Anna and her babies are so cute.
Omg I can't take it so adorable omg there so cute 😍🐰

I'm so sorry to hear about Peanut.
It was so sweet to see how attentive she is to her brood.
They're so adorable!
And yes, the cats eyes are gorgeous!
I love that name, Paisley.
Thanks so much for making this adorable video. I really hope peanut lives:)
Momma looks so much like My Mr. Spock. He is a boy and a strapping solid 3 year old. Sorry about your peanut, yeah, they generally dont last long. I had to beg the owner of my bunny to sell him to me. It took me three days to convince the owner to sell him to me. They wanted to breed him but I just wanted him as a friend. I offered to let him use him for breeding but it didnt happen so I got him fixed. That was the correct move. He really loves me and I am glad we never let him become a breeder.
Woah! That peanut baby was so small. I had two accident litters, but luckily no peanut bunny babies. Anyways this was a sweet video! (Even if a tad sad.) I love how you can have your cat around your bunnies too. Could never trust my feline.
OML THEY ARE SO PRECIOUS!! I’m getting a baby Holland lop very soon and I’m extremely excited. I’ve done so much to prepare and I really can’t wait. I’m definitely subscribing to your channel.
OMG they are so so adorable, bless the lil peanut RIP.TFS
AW THE LITLLE PEANUT I HOPE HE HAD AN AMAZING LIFE AND RECIEVED SO MUCH LOVE WHILE HE WAS ALIVE :,(
The picture of innocence❤sad about the little undersized one though😔
I'm in love! I think I may need to convince hubby to let me get one of these adorable bunnies! And Paisley with her amazing eyes is gorgeous!
Awe Paisely is gorgeous....I love her eyes! Beautiful rabbits!😍😍😍🌸🌸🌸
I just realized this is my first time seeing baby bunnies.

*THANKS FOR THE UPDATE IN THE DESCRIPTION FOR LIL PEANUT I was looking for the video update then I figure let me check the descriptions!*
poor peanut!! i love him
Did the tiny peanut survive? Oh please say yes :-(((
BerlinJane ASMR sadly it didn't. Check the description
Jasmine :-(((((((( Oh no... it's so unfair how life sometimes operates... Thank you very much for your answer... :-(
WhisperingJane ASMR I hope peanut did .
Laileen Arguelles it says in the description peanut died at 12 days old
I think even if it did survive it would be suffering because of its faulty genes :/ Hopefully it passed with little pain.
My heart is broken and I’m sobbing watching this.
This is so cute and is just making me want a bunny even more. Also that cat is beautiful.
Poor Peanut... :( **sad snail cries while hugging a bunny**
Good night 💤🌙😴
Peanut was so so tiny! You must be an amazing rabbit breeder to have kept him alive for so long.
What an interesting video! You answered all my questions in the description. Thanks for sharing! 🐰

Your cats eyes are beautiful! I love cats with two different colored eyes, i think it makes them look amazing!
Aww little peanut, you've touched my heart. RIP sweetheart.
Poor baby..It's nice it got to live a happy life, surrounded by love and good care, no matter how short it's life was.
1:58😂😂😂😂 mom i can't breathe
Bunnies are my favorite animals and i hate when one dies. Life is so unfair in ways
In that basket they looked like little current buns!!! :-D I've never had baby bunnies but we did have baby Guinea pigs a few times, and it strikes me that they're a lot more dignified when they ween! Love watching baby bunnies supping their milk, any side up with those oversized feet going all over the place! :-D
Omg your cat's eyes are so beautiful.
Your cat is cute and cool cuz of its blue and green eyes
Poor Peanut....

I know it's meant to be a rabbit video, but my goodness the eye on the cat were absolutely hypnotizing. The colors were amazing and deep with the white coat only adding to the beauty.
awwwwww bunnies!!!!😍😍😍😍😍
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BUNNIES
hello from Brazil!!! did the peanut survive? did you help the doe to nurse/breastfeed the peanut baby? I mean, did you give any special attention to the peanut baby? Thanks a lot.
they're born with incomplete digestive systems so they end up starving usually.
I literally cried at the Peanut! So freaking tiny ❤️
Poor little Peanut. Bless you for giving him a chance. So sorry he did not make it.
Aww that's so cute
I have a theory, now having raised Holland Lops for five years as well as N.Dwarfs, that peanuts are actually preemies. My true peanuts in N. Dwarfs were always deformed. I have eliminated seeing any preemies in my Holland Lop litters. Therefore it is not a dwarfism in my experience (raising over 500 Holland Lops). We know rabbits get double bred very easily, and the Holland Lops always push out both litters at the same time, whereas larger breeds will carry both litters to full term *my grandfather also breeds Flemish, and they do this* We think it's safe to let the buck breed to the doe again in the first 2-3 days, but even in the same session the rabbit can get double bred! I know this because I always had preemies, but now that I stop breeding after just one try, I have them no more. The mother carries two placentas and the second litter (most times is just one or two if double bred in same session) never gets to grow as fast and is pushed out the same time as the rest. I lost a Holland Lop who gave birth to 12, she was double bred. 6 were normal size and she made a nest at the back. 6 were birthed in the front, 1/3 the size. Two litters. But they don't carry them both to full term. They push them all out at once (all her intestines came out) I hope to talk more with rabbit breeders on this topic. It is not Dwarfism. Netherland Dwarfs have truly deformed, handicapped, small peanuts due to Dwarf. These coming from Holland Lops are perfectly proportioned. You can email me at homesteadhollands@gmail.com
They're so cute! And love the cat's eyes!
the little dwarf bunny will get all the love i can give. I dont know why it is soooo precious. Makes me want a dwarf bunny
