Loved the photo of the old East Stroudsburg station. After my parents moved there in fall 1970, passenger service had already ended. Did get to see a steam excursion train come through in the early 1970s.
chuck , my dad working for the lackawanna, retired the day the merger went thru, i have a certificate from the railroad honoring his 43 years o f service, worked mostly out of hoboken and secaucus as a general yardmaster, i rode many times on the phoebe snow and cheerish those times. love your videos i am still a fan of railroads, especially the lackawanna not so much on the erie thanks for all your time taking videos
Looking back, I should of been more proactive about taking photos of the Silver Lake bridge replacement. I was working out of the County Garage on Silver Lake Rd at that time, but was just starting to get into your video series and the history of the cutoff. Thank you Chuck for all of your hard work and dedication to the history, preservation, and hopeful restoration of the cutoff.
Amazing when you look at old Railroad pictures and the lack of trees back then - and then to think we have an atmosphere in jeopardy? Anyway - always great to hear from you Chuck - holding on to hope this project goes forward. Jersey needs to step up their game, as PA did $$ and get rolling.
if you lived in Blairstown, you would have heard of Charlie Rydell. He owned the tractor store on Rt 94 in the center of Marksboro. The trucking company I worked for (AAA Trucking Corp.) used to make deliveries to Charlie back in the 1970's 80's. Sadly, we had a young truck driver named Joe McDonnel from Blairstown that lost his life when he walked in to make a delivery in Newark as someone was robbing the place. He startled the robber and was shot dead. he left behind two small kids and a young wife back in the mid 1970's.
Hello Chuck, How was Thanksgiving? Like to see what Northeast Pennslyvania is doing to get trains running west of the Delaware river and eventually run into New Jersey. Hooking up with NJ Transit Morristown branch to Hoboken Terminal. I do not know about Pennsylvania Station NY.
Number 5 at the end had the business from the Saturday only number 17 that was discontinued . In fact it was the reason there was a profit of a million dollar for the Lake Cities. The judge refused to let that be put in as evidence . But the final report which I have does show it. It would have been two million in 1970 from rate increases if the train ran that full year.
Thanks Chuck your continued videos and information I enjoy it so much and been a fan for yrs since watching the lake Cities in 1968 and 1969 at Blairstown. station. Did you ever think of getting a group together and do some brush clearing to look for the Lackawanna sign and foundation by the Coursen house, might be something worth doing.
Thanks Chuck for all your efforts regarding the cut off🙏😎
You're welcome!

No, before I was driving.

Thank YOU for watching! You'd be surprised how much history I failed to capture on camera. I kick myself on a regular basis.

NJ has already put in about $90 million into this project, so it's a bit disingenuous to criticize us.

That's very sad.

Fascinating stories.
The truth is out there 😮
Map should be reproduced and displayed on the wall of one of the NJT coaches
The Port Morris tower was at the western end of the Port Morris yard at the wye?
No, far eastern end. It's still there.
gonna be a lot of fire wood when they start clearing the right of way

The plan is for Amtrak to run into their station, NY Penn, not Hoboken which is NJ Transit..
@@LackawannaCutOff If you want to go to Hoboken I am sure the Amtrak train will stop somewhere you can change to NJ Transit local service to Hoboken.
Did you say 70’ long map?
Yes, I did.

If true, EL management should have been put out to pasture.
Jesus wept!
Please tell us, Trump is not going to pull the funding.
Impossible to say. But, we'll see.

We're virtually certain that it's gone.
