A good tip is that you should consider a zone below your actual zone when considering hardiness with containers -- so zone 5, you would want to make sure that plants are hardy to a zone 4. I love semps in succulent arrangements because of their mounding habits, sad that they are monocarpic. Semps will also color-up when it comes to temperature as well, so some will get their color when it gets cold -- it is usually sun, cold, or water stress that color succulents up. Laura Eubanks is my reigning queen of succulent arrangements and has taught me so much and her work gives me so much inspiration.
Hi Summer… the first thing I noticed when your video started was the bird sounds… I put out several bird houses I made this year… and have several sparrow families… on my patio…& I’m putting out a hummingbird feeder today… that bowl is going to be gorgeous once it’s been out and gets that dark rusty patina… against the different colors of the…succulents you chose. Very nice project… yes, there was a few days when the sky was smoky here in the lower Hudson Valley NY… no sun.. no clouds… just an off colored… grayish off white… Glad to see a sky with clouds and colors and 🌞again!!! Enjoyed the video… take care and stay safe and well… 🪶🐦⬛🌵🌞🪴🌝🪷🐦⬛🪶
The reason to grow weiiinstephaner gold is that its foliage is really red in winter. Line a path or do something that will be dramatic for winter interest. Mass plant that one.
We have more smoke now. I remember in 2020 that california said dont bother wearing a mask because of the fires, the smoke goes right through it, so weve been staying in both rounds. I love this bowl idea!
Hi Summer, it turns out beautiful 😍. A tip, you really don’t need to use the big rootball, you can rip of half and that makes it easier to pot and make space for more plants. Something I learned from Laura from Garden Answer who does many beautiful succulents arrangement or fairly garden 😊
I love alpine gardening. I’m in Denver (zone 5) and I just did a xeric alpine garden with all these types of plants in an area of my Grandmother’s backyard which doesn’t get as much water. It looks great!
Hey Summer, Sarah from Ottawa Canada. Fires are ongoing and the air quality was the worst it has ever been just yesterday. You may have some more waves of haze coming your way!
An inspirational, beautiful project! ❤ Espoma! Am looking to do some rockhounding. I could use my discovered geodes interpretively as opposed to drift wood. 🤔
Very creative, they look amazing, be quite the market for things like that. I just cleared a path that hasn't been cleared in 10 years. It looks like Narnia. Climbing Ben Nevis next week. Hogwarts world, the train is there. Can't wait. Love you.
Hi Summer, I’ve been looking for a metal BB, can you share where you found it? You mentioned you wanted to add extra holes. How? What is the granular topper? I couldn’t see it or the bag. I’d love for you to show a close up of each succulent, either pointed to the camera and/or pan closely after they are placed. I like to see the serried of your specific plants and their placement there in.
Love your succulent bowl, it looks awesome. It gave me ideas for a friends front yard, some of the colours would go perfectly with her Japanese maples. Also, thank you for mentioning our fire situation, they are saying it's our worst fire season in decades, the sky here in Toronto has been an eerie orange for days. Question, how much do you think the air quality will affect any plants (veggies, pollinator plants etc) growing outdoors? Mine are growing but very slowly this year, some are struggling it seems.
Ugh as I write this ( east central NJ near NYC ) there are air quality alerts up again. Last time I needed to hose off the thin layer of ash on the outside houseplants. The succulent bowl is such a cool idea, and what a nice selection of succulents you chose, it will be even more spectacular as it ages ! 🪴🤗 PS really hope you have quality sunscreen on your exposed skin, I worry about you, you’re young…I had a malignant melanoma removed from my upper back neck…I wear a hat that covers my back neck and sun proof sleeves when I am out gardening, better than sunscreen 👒 💕
I don’t know much about succulents but that bowl and the plants looks phonomenal
Just lovely ❤️🥰🌱🦋
That came out beautiful i love 💘 succulent 👌 thank u for sharing 👍

I'm inspired I need to find a cool big bowl. Was considering making one out of concrete.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!😊😍👍

We are still smoky in London Ontario two Sundays Today in a while very smoky
Mountain Crest is the best!! I have ordered from them multiple times and made some really nice arrangements.
love it
Gosh that looks so pretty, good job !❤🌿
Hater it the day next you plant the composition... it helps to let plant recover small breaks in roots (they are all succulent plants...).
Thank you Ms. Summer. Your BB is very pretty. 🌸💚🙃 I made two of those for my garden and I am really enjoying them. 🌸💚🙃

Can we get an update in a month? Also, does hardy mean cold tolerant?
as someone is big into succulents and succulents bowls... that bowl is way overcrowded in some spaces :( please give them more room to breathe
i'm wondering if the rust from the bowl would cause rust fungus to the plants?

I'm seeing smoke in the air today south of the Catskills. 👍🌵🌱🪴
