Wow thank you so much for the shoutout! I'll have to make a tag video! I hope I can make time for it. I love your channel and it was awesome to visit the shop!
Hey, if you like that *Halloween* soundtrack, be sure to check out John Carpenter's *Lost Themes* series. They're a bit more melodic & a touch more consistently spooky than his other film-music discs, because each of their tracks was written as a standalone song instead of backing music. The Sacred Bones label has done a nice job of issuing them in cool editions, too. Good stuff! 👻
🔥Billy Cobham🔥One of your videos showed the record 'Spectrum' a while back and I haven't been able to get enough of his music since. Lucky enough to have tickets to see him live in London soon. Thanks for highlighting these great artists that don't get the recognition they deserve.
That will be an awesome gig. I discovered Spectrum from Massive Attack sampling it on their "Blue Lines" album. They were kind enough to list their sample sources on the liner notes so I set about hunting them down. Enjoy the gig I'm jealous lol.
Townes Van Zandt is to you what Nick Drake is to me. I don’t think I love an artist more. He music helps me so much when I’m down but if I listen to him when I’m happy my mood drops thinking how we lost such a great artist. On a separate Note, you should see if you can get your hands on the TMOQ “David Bowie - Let all the children boggie - complete BBC Session -1966 -1972 box set”. Absolutely brilliant.
It apparently took 10 days for your Summer Vinyl Tag to reverberate around the world to Japan. Will give this a whirl this weekend! Thanks for the idea. I always love your videos, Dillon. Long time fan, maybe first-time commenter.
Zamrock is like collecting Ming Dynasty vases. 1st rule of collecting vases don't buy damaged stuff, but if you want the really rare stuff throw that rule right out the window because they are all cracked, chipped and broken.
Great that you like 45’s or at least some of them! I have about 2,000 of them in my collection and you’re right about there being tracks that are not available on the LP’s but you can hear them on 45; case in point several great songs that E.L.O. (Most underrated band out there!) songs that are on the B-sides of some hit singles. GREAT songs! And what about “Hush/One More Rainy Day”? Try finding that picture sleeve! VERY rare! Thanks for another great video and keep ‘em comin’!😊
Really enjoyed this video Dillon. Some amazing, strange records, and fine stories as well. You inspired me to make my own video, and... well, still got records to put back! Cheers from Morten over in Oslo, Norway.
Hendrix forever!!! I was devastated when he died. I was 15 and a guitar player. I have worked on a complete Hendrix collection. Need the first two LPs as promos and a few of the Track records.
I’ve never heard of Ash but I should have since every few years I go on a proto-metal hunt and try to discover more albums. The song is pretty cool but it reminds me a bit of a song from Nazareth’s debut.
I forget which video you recommended Hermanos Gutierrez' Sonido Cosmico, thought it might be this one so just attaching this comment here, but thank you thank you thank you! It is such a great album! I received the album a few days ago and have been listening to it nearly non-stop. Thanks for all your great recommendations!
Thanx for doing a vid for two reasons. 1. Always turning me on to stuff I’ve never heard of. 2. I need to get some questions together to send you for article we talked about! I’m on it.
Hey Dylan thank you for your videos man I’m following since about 3 years now and you’ve shown me by seeing your videos some albums I wasn’t aware that are so insanely good and it has help me build my vinyl collection and also helped to find true gems I was at a ‘’ goodwill’’ kind of places recently and I found an OG Canadian first pressing of Townes van zandt the cover is almost perfect it had still the 69 seal and the record is approximately vg+ paid a dollar for it wouldn’t know the album if I wouldn’t have watched your videos so I’m really greatful for that 🤞
I enjoyed it so much I'll forgive you for complaining about the heat. We got 3 warm weeks last summer and this year seems to be just as crap. It's raining all the time and the peak temp on about 5 days was 19 degrees. You probably guessed that I'm English because all we do is complain about our climate, we've heard of vitamin D but we don't contain any lol.
I enjoy watching the Sorin Vinyl YT channel for the same exact reason. It's kind of funny that you mentioned his channel because I was watching one of his videos two or three uploads ago and I remember thinking in my head that Dylan would probably enjoy this channel if he saw it. Hearing Sorin talk about the collection he had found in someone's house recently made me think of the video you put up a while back Dylan. It was the video talking about the guy that got you down into his basement and then had other things on his mind besides records haha. That definitely would have been a creepy and uncomfortable experience I'm sure! Listening to Sorin talk about his vinyl finds, and just some of the stories that you've mentioned through the years, made me think that you were probably a lot like him at younger age. Vinyl hunting is still fun but that initial stage, along with everything that you learn, are some of the best times in my mind when reflecting on the history of vinyl collecting and searching. I'm legally blind now and cannot drive so I don't really have a way to go to a lot of yard sales or estate sales or even thrift stores like I would love to still do. But I really had some great times through the years and now I have to live vicariously through other people's stories haha. I haven't given up all hope of being able to do some more searching but it just isn't something I can do at this point now in life. Keep up the good work Dylan! Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
The last video of yours that I watched had a Raw Power record in the background. Is that it again hiding in the corner. I purged all my Billy Cobham. I’ve seen a lot people show Hermanos Gutierrez. My number one want is the first press of Nervous Breakdown.
Will see if I can put together a response. Good prompts. Would love to see a Zamrock roundup and perhaps see what kind of downgrades / copies are lying around at the shop lol
I've actually got a question. I noticed with your TOQ LZ boxset there is some peeling of the box. Do you ever repair stuff if it's become unglued or do you just leave it be. I've always avoided moisture with my collection which is the way to go but obviously that brings the other side of it with glue drying out. Every time I go through my vinyl there are more of them becoming "flappy". They are in plastic sleeves so I'm not worried about them snagging on other records and ripping the "flappy" covers but I do keep thinking I should probably set about carefully re-attaching the seams.
Cool video. I’ve been collecting for about 15 years and have NEVER come across a Sabbath at a consignment shop. I’ve gotten Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, etc. but ZERO Sabbath. 😊
I love your videos! If I am ever in NC, I will definitely have to check out your store. But! One thing you have done is planted the seed of self consciousness -- I always check my discogs when I am record shopping. But I don't do it to price check! I do it to make sure I am not buying something I already have (which I have done more than once, embarrassingly). Now, you have me thinking the shopkeeps are thinking I am price checking them!
@@noblerecords Oh, of course! I just meant to kind of joke that I hope when I am in a record store and pulling up discogs, the clerk knows it's just to check to see if I already have a given record. I am not price checking them. Besides, even if I happen to notice that the prices a little higher, I'd rather buy my records in a record store or an in-person establishment of some kind. It FEELS the best to do that! Plus, you can actually see what you're getting. Thanks for all you do. I've been catching up on some of your older videos and getting wonderful recommendations from you. There's lots of stuff I haven't heard out there-- you are broadening my mind in the best way :)
Dillon u crack me up! “It’s good to have your heart broken sometimes” priceless Btw I’m sure you know this but Zep used to play Blueberry Hill in the 69-70 tours in US I saw them 1970 for Zep 3 tour at MSG I’m not Mazzy but I seen a few……live bands including Cobham
Hey Dillon! Cheers for getting the ball rolling on this. Some interesting picks there. Just posted my own video response. Better late than never, I suppose. ☮️
I felt the same way you did about that Hendrix record when I found a Mono tri-color pressing of Are You Experienced in a bin for $20 not that long ago. Also, I wanted to ask you, is a Thriller first pressing without the MJ co-producing credit really worth all that much more? People on eBay ask a lot for it, but the more I research, it doesn't seem all that rare and doesn't usually sell for that much in auction.
Wow thank you so much for the shoutout! I'll have to make a tag video! I hope I can make time for it. I love your channel and it was awesome to visit the shop!

Sonido Cosmico is a great album! Hermanos Gutierrez are an awesome band - saw them at their Live show + signing in the UK and they're such cool guys.
