Oh the pride of his Cajun cooking I love it if I can handle humidity and heat I'd be living down there in Louisiana great people incredible food and I can't believe nobody's heard of a soft shell crab!!!
Awesome ! We used to catch the softshell crabs in the Barnegat bay , Barnegat N.J.. For some reason larger blue claw crabs cary the softshell crab underneath them . We would use weighted drop lines with bunker on them . When you see the line go taunt the crab was trying to walk away with the bait. Just pull them up slow and get them with the scoop net ! Sometimes there would be 2 crabs. One crab , carrying the softshell underneath ! Very good eatin ! Great video !
Probably my favorite seafood.....softshells. When I was stationed in New Orleans years ago at the 8th Marine Corps District we lived down in Plaqueman's Parrish....this was back in the l970's. Couple of us bought a Lafitte Skiff and pulled a trawl net on the weekends along with setting crab pots. There is no bad way to eat those beauties. Thanks for the memories, Ralph......
Southern Maryland boy been crabing most of my life. We like it with old Bay and fish fry batter but we fry them in peanut oil. Or you can Fry them up black iron skillet. Well done sir👍✌
Hi Ralph. I love your videos, I’ve been watching for a long time now here on UA-cam. I just wanted to say that I prefer these longer style videos. I really enjoyed this one. Thank you :)
I live in Michigan so we don’t get crabs up here.. so I ordered on line some soft shell crabs so I’m following your recipe…I know these are going to be fantastic! Can’t wait! Thank you!
We have them up east in Connecticut but they are getting harder to find and I've been crabbing for 40 years. Now I've never done the the soft shell before but I've had them in some shoreline resturaunts. They must not clean the right because there is often sand in the crab. I would love to try them the way you do yours. I've always felt blue crabs were the sweetest shellfish ever even better than Maine lobster. Love your videos they always make me hungry. I'm definitely going to order your seasoning too. Pretty sure my wife and adult sons will love the seasoning as well.
Hey! If you ever visit my home state VA, especially the Hampton Roads region, make sure to try a fried hard shell crab. They’re a very popular delicacy where I’m from. They just take the top shell off of the crabs and use a wet batter to coat the crabs.
In Eastern NC we had them Soft Shell Crabs I hadnt been to the restaurant in many years but used to eat them fried on a sandwich similar to hamburger Roll is was like the Restaurant own Rolls was very good, there is a certain kind of flour they use there fries almost white it looks lighter then even Tempura with club soda in it.
When I was at LSU in the early 80’s I had a weekend place in a rooming house in NO. At that time a soft shell crab po’ boy cost about $6. That was pretty much the food budget for the day, but goddamn I’ll never forget how damned _goooood_ they were!
Boyyyyy. This right here. My fav. Love them. Only cooked them few times. So hard to get around BTR! Live them as is. Or on poboy. Crabs any way is my #1. But soft shells are such a treat. Delish. Ty fir sharing.
I've heard of them, but never tried one. I don't think we have them here in Washington. But sure seems easier than picking it. Will add it the bucket list. 😉
Well am from Virginia and I have heard of soft shell crab and when I go to outer banks I get some goooood soft shell crab sandwiches with hot sauce Cole slaw and fries
We are visiting in Connecticut and went to Jimmies of Savin Rock in West Haven for lunch today. Yep, had 2 soft shell crabs, fries and onion rings, wife had fried clams. Love the crabs, can’t do the clams; anyway, had to use my stimulus check to pay for the crabs...
Just caught me some down here in Florida great video it's important to know how to clean them correctly you can also saute them but fried is probably the best
Yeah you right they are very expensive I only bought 6 I eate 3 and I'm saving the other 3 to try your recipe because it looks so good and I know that it tastes even better 👍👍👍❤❤❤

Just how we do up here in MD! AS a kid id wade out in the water and catch them as soon as they came out the shell/malted. They burry in sand/mud to protect themselves. Today its all I can do to find a "shed" old hard shell left behind.
