Occam’s lost me on this one with the need for an external tool for a blade change. Plus a special blade and price. Thank you once again Mark for a thorough review.
Albert, I find myself not using the tool at all. After a few tries, I found that it becomes quite easy to load and unload a blade.
Ciao Mark,mi piace il rasoio ti ha dato un ottima rasatura.Future Fiction ha una profumazione straordinaria.👍❤️
Massimo, future Fiction is a definite favorite. the Occam's Razor has gotten better with each shave.
Nice! I love my Occam. Don’t know how I missed this video. I saw Randy Shaves mention they were still available and at a discount like your other viewer did. I’m so glad I picked on up. Super smooth shave. My 2nd favorite razor after my PAA Meta-4.
Shalpher, great to hear you were able to get one. I'd like to also get the newer version with the open handle.
I might have to get this. Thanks for the reminder lol love their de set I picked up when it first came out. It shaves great.
Hi, JMGeronimo. I'm very happy that I added this to my collection. I'm not sure if these are still being manufactured. I sure would like to get a O.R.E.N. Razor - Occam's Razor Enhanced Nano. But still listed as sold out.
I have both of the Occam’s razors and they are my 2nd favorite single edge razor. I find the one dot is really smooth and is where I settled. I learned to be careful with loading the blade because you can’t hit the cutting edge on those retaining tabs. Great shave Mark!
Matthew, thanks.:) Yes, the blade has to be pressed down a bit so the cutting edge clears those tabs.
@@MarkSzorady I figured that out after a couple of bad shaves : )
Yes, in order to avoid that, I learned to load the blade from the front end!
Thanks again, Mark for another shave video. Very interesting razor and love the rose gold color.
Excellent shave Mark! (VLS) Great razor!😊
Thanks, vlstpt.:)
I have this razor in the same rose gold color. I wish the O.R.E.N. version came in that color but it doesn’t, for now at least. I don’t use it often enough but I remember getting a great shave with it. I wish they sold the handle separately because I might buy it to make another razor with one of the other plates, just for convenience.
Good morning Mark! Excellent job Mark. I like it your make video channel.
Good morning, BD.
@@MarkSzorady Hi
Cool razor and video channel! Big Dude Mark.
Hi Mark, Great shave and razor review: thank you. Excellent demo on using this razor, as well as explaining your blade choice. Have a great weekend. Best regards, as always, Mark!
Thanks, Mike. The Occam's razor is a different animal but really delivers a nice shave. Blade loading ix actually straightforward...you just need to do it a few times to get the hang of it. Have a great weekend. It's finally starting to warm up...but I think we in NE Ohio will have one more snowfall.
Great video and very entertaining, Mark.No doubt a great razor and shaving products. Is Occam halting production though? Look forward to the Fleischer Superman videos you mentioned.Cheers! 🇨🇦
I enjoy the performance this razor provides XTG on the neck than most any other razor. I use the 3-dot plate with Feather Professional Super single-edge blades (that are not recommended) and still find it provides a very smooth and efficient shave. Machined-out handles for all of the single-edge Occam's Razor models (for better grip) would preferable, like on the 'O.R.E.N.' or an option to use one's favorite longer knurled handle, both which most likely won't happen. This razor might have been inspired by the Enders 'Speed Razor' or 'Speed Shaver' made in the 1930s-1950s, which used proprietary, winged blades.
Thanks, borbetomagus.:)Appreciate the additonal info. I'd like ot someday get a O.R.E.N. but afraid they may no longer be available. Interested in the improved grip it provides.
Best razor ATG on my neck too and overall! Period! Works best on 2 dots plate for me with Feather Super Professional I attribute that to the wide safety bar which the OREN doesn’t have and therefore feels more aggressive or rough, at least for me, compared to the Occam’s! The only downside is when it comes to work under my nose, but I always keep my Hawk V3 next to it for some final cleanups.
Hey Mark, great shave with the Occam's. What I learned really quickly with the razor is to just grab it and go. I no longer even think about how I hold it just as I don't stop and think about using any other tool. Remember, the straight razor is very awkward to handle also and the handle is similarly shaped. Next time try to not even think about it, just start shaving and muscle memory will soon take over. I don't even notice the handle shape anymore. I am glad you got a really good shave. On another note I wish we could make gasoline last as long as an alum block! Thanks for the mention and I hope you continue to enjoy the Occam's!
Randy, totally agree. I mentioned the same in this past MMMB. I now just grab the razor and get to the shave. I no longer think about how to hold/grasp the handle. I just shave with it.:) An enjoyable shave.
Great shave, Mark! I have the O.R.E.N. version of this on loan and have had a good shave with it. I have been watching but it hasn't been in stock for many months. I'm not sure if they will have them back in stock. Maybe I'll be able to find one secondhand. I find it a little odd that they would suggest holding it that way but I'll try it to see how it feels. I agree that loading the blade is tricky until you understand how the mechanism works. One last thought. Every time I saw this razor it immediately reminded me of a vegetable peeler. Seeing in person only cemented that thought. Maybe not the most flattering comparison but an apt one. Thanks for the video!
Hey Mark. I have the Occam NANO version with the open handle and a slight change to the head for a more versatile use. I hold my razor like a conventional razor. I also just use my hand to insert and remove the blade.
I find it very easy to get a BBS shave. This razor doesn’t get the exposure or respect that it deserves IMO. A very intuitive razor.
Have a great day and be safe.
My friend Donald Youngner uses that razor almost exclusively on his channel. If you haven't tried his Wet the Face products, they are worthy of your consideration. Well shaved today.
Patrick, I have used some of the Wet the Face products.

Donald makes a wonderful shave soap and is a really nice guy. Very accommodating and responsive to his customers.
That’s where I was introduced to the Occam’s for a first time and it came out to be my favorite most comfortable razor !
I found the against the grain pass was where this razor shines. I struggled with holding this razor to. Did not like the Feather Proguard Blades with plate 2, little to mild. Have some blades in route to try.
Carl, I agree about the against the gain pass. the razor feels quite natural in the hand when doing this pass and it really seems to hit the angle spot on.:)
Nice shave and a great explanation on how to use the Occam razor. Personally, the razor isn't a good fit for me because the loading and unloading mechanism is too complicated for me as compared to loading a regular DE or SE injector. Have a great day.
Nice shave
Thanks, joemjaquez.:)
Thank you for this review. This just seems overly complicated for me. I don't want to raise her that I have to use two external tools to manipulate and or change blades or guards. Interesting concept though but I will stick with my de
Would have been nice if you showed the loading technique. I had to search for a video in how to do it via UA-cam
Apologies. That might require a separate video. It's a bit awkward holing it up to the camera. this is why I held it downward where I could more reliably load the blade. Even then, I missed one tab slightly.
EDIT - Wait...Idouble checkedmy video...I show the loading process starting at 5:24. Again, a bit awkward holing it up to the camera. but still quite easy.
When are you getting a leaf twig? You seem to be in an SE mood at just lately! It's a brilliant razor
I like the twig razor. Really nice.
Very interesting razor. Not sure its for me,but i enjoyed your review. Paa soap was amazing as always. my sotd was paa cold spice soap and after shave. With my king c gillette and a wilkonsword blade. Nice smooth shave. I want to try a differant paa soap and after shave set. but im at a loss what to choose. so many. Do you have one you enjoy more then others? Again, great review as always. Have a great week
Andrew, thaks for the nice comments. Yds, perhaps the Occam's razor is an acquired taste due to the shape of its handle.
Regarding PPAA soaps, off the top of my head, the following are ones I really enjoy. Clubguy (Homage to Clubman Pinuad), CaD (Homage to Barbasol), Hotel Cecil (Homage to Burma Shave), John Frum, Droid Black Homafge to Floid Black), Atomic Age Bay Rum, High Jump 47. There are others. I'd have to look at my collection. Also, Oud Spice is fantastic but only offered at specific times. It's somewaht regarded as the Unobtanium of shaving soaps. I encourage you to get the app and get on the mailing list for when this one drops.
Just bought one today for 55.99 great price for gold ss we safety razor can’t wait to try it
Shawn, as I mentioned, I found the handle to be a bit awkward at first. Let me know how it handles for you.
I'm glad you reviewed this razor but the only way I would buy this if it was 10$. It's not worth it to me to need tools & screws to shave. The best part of this razor is the name.
Hakime, my pleasure. As I mentioned, once you find the plate that works for your shave, I doubt you'll ever need to swap out the plates again.
💈👍🏼
Too complicated, and the fact it requires a screw driver and specialized blades make it a no for me. Thnx for reviewing it Mark.
My pleasure, KP. Yes, others have found the plate exchange process (screws, Phillips screwdriver, etc.) to be a deal breaker. But, for me, the #2 plate works fine. So, I doubt I'll ever swap out the plates. I'd think once you find the plate that works for you, you won't be swapping it out again.
