What a great fight this was. A super bias crowd rooting for Chuvalo for sure. A rough, dirty 1st round, but fight but ended with with great sportsmanship gestures from both fighters. I love that, because most fighters that have a 1st round like George and Buster had, will carry grudges. Both men deserve kudos for their gallant behavior at fight's end. These men, especially George, fought some of the best fighters boxing has ever seen. Both were top 10 level fighters for a long time!
He has some notable wins though,he stopped jerry quarry, stopped Doug Jones,(impressive knock out win something ali couldn't do)he has a win over Cleveland williams,Manuel ramos....his fight with Floyd Patterson was the ring magazine fight of the year....
@@RaySierra George Chuvalo never had a single win over any top contender, so he obviously never held a real title...People love to go out of their way to try and make him out to be more than the likeable, tough journeyman that he was.
@@RaySierra Doug Jones was not a top contender in 1964 when he fought Chuvalo. He had already amassed 5 losses by the time they fought, and he never fought for a title. Jerry Quarry was the same kind of slow, not very skilled fighter that Chuvalo was, and he ALSO never fought for a title. Top contenders fight for titles, and this was especially true back then. Chuvalo got a shot due to Ernie Terrell backing out of the Ali fight.
Oh come on quarry beat ron lyle, shavers,Mac foster, floyd patterson, lyle and foster were both the number the one contender when quarry beat them...foreman openly says he avoided jerry quarry, who he was supposed to fight after quarry destroyed shavers,so it wasn't really his fault foreman wouldn't fight him.that should of been his title shot....quarry vsvfrazier one was ring magazine fight of the year, chuvalo vs patterson was also ring magazine fight of the year...
great upload
Thanks -- and thank you for watching!

Buster Mathis Sr. was the original Big John Tate, Greg Page and Tony Tubbs as they boxed with speed and agility for the big man.
Buster mathis, looked great vs chuvalo. Corey roberts, i had this on vhs.
I wonder had Buster Mathis & Mac Foster fought, it would be crazy
I wonder who would win
Eight ounces gloves! Those were the days.
When did Buster leave Cus D'Amato?
The Greatest white Canadian brawler of all time.
Ruddock, limited fighter would destroy him in 2 rounds
@@Shovelhook A lie.
@@Shovelhook There’s no comparison you are lost you probably voted Joe Biden.
@@Shovelhook you probably voted for a man who went to a KKK funeral and read his eulogy and said “he’s my mentor”.
It's interesting that chuvalo was actually involved in Ruddocks career pretty early on....both being from Canada
I'm a more than one beer man.
Corey roberts, buster mathis, looked great vs chulaldo.
Chuvalo fought all the top contenders and lost to them all
A guy that showed he can take it but unfortunately he could
not give it.

I had it 11-1 for Mathis. I only gave Chuvalo the 4th.
Mathis. Won with punch and hold tactics. He should have been penalized for excessive holding.
