It’s great when you are able to photograph something different. There is a part of the beach at Parador Golf in Malaga that is becoming a mini Tariffa with para surfers. All down to the wind though. Nice one Ralph.
Glad you enjoyed it Michael, we don't often get the conditions for surfing on this section so it was an opportunity I wouldn't often get. Thank you for watching and commenting
It was a balancing act. f/8 gave a reasonable depth of field so better chance of catching the surfers in focus. f/2.8 would have allowed a faster exposure time / lower ISO but more chance of missing the focus. Hope that helps
@@RalphGoldsmith Thats great thanks i will try your settings out. An other photographer expert on surf beach photography on cloudy days says you should try settings around f2.8 s 1/1000 iso 1600.Do them settings sound good to you too or not?
Good point. The spray wasn't too bad and the camera and lens were weather sealed so I wasn't too worried. A good wipe down with a damp cloth afterwards was required and, of course, I had to keep wiping the front of the lens during shooting. Thank you for watching and commenting
Yes, it was good fun and something a bit different. Thank you for watching and commenting Guilherme

Great weather for surfing, I managed to capture some guys where I live learning to surf with my drone. Got some great action shots Ralph. Big thumbs up from me and thanks for sharing your work - stay safe :)
It was Shaun, they seemed to be having fun, Getting them with a drone sounds good although it was pretty windy that day so not sure how well that would have worked. Thank you for watching and commenting
Yes, I could have used my Tamron 150-600 but, as it worked out, I quite like having a bit of the scene included with the surfers so I'm not too disappointed. Thank you for watching and commenting
That was great Ralph, tricky to photograph but you caught some impressive images and you had fun taking them. Although you wouldn't get me in that water for all the tea in china LOL
Nicely done, Ralph, balancing action with a background. Just curious, when you headed out to shoot, we’re you planning to capture the surfers or was that an early morning gift?
Glad you liked it Gary, I wanted to have some background in there for a sense of where it was. I went out to see what i could find but the idea of the surfers was in my mind. Thank you for watching and commenting
Some great captures Ralph, you look like you were enjoying every minute of it 😁 I think it’s good for a photographer to have a go at different genre’s. Thanks for sharing 👍 Cheers, Cliff
Glad you like them Cliff, definitely a bit more of an 'active' shoot than landscapes. Good fun and, as you say, something a bit different.Thank you for watching and commenting
Looked like fun having a little change of subject. I've been doing things a little differently in lockdown here too, as we can't go anywhere.
I do like to play around with different things occasionally. Glad you enjoyed it Charles. Thank you for watching and commenting
Nice shots!!! And nice B roll with the surfers. I can't imagine surfing in the cold. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.
Glad you liked them Patty. With wetsuits on it's probably not that cold but I still wouldn't do it. Thank you for watching and commenting
Great images Ralph, thank u for sharing ! May I ask do you have a friend photographing you as you are photographing these
surfers?
Glad you like them Marilyn. No, it's just me. It does keep me busy😀. Thank you for watching and commenting

were your shots sharp at them settings on this cloudy day i mite try them out myself
Yes, they were, exposure time was fast enough to freeze movement with a bit of tracking. Have fun. Thank you for watching and commenting
Nice change Ralph, you captured some nice action shots there.Thank you for sharing and take care.
Glad you enjoyed it John, always nice to play around with something different for a change. Thank you for watching and commenting
could you have used other settings like say f2.8 or f5.6 and got a result or did you need to be at f8?

That was great Ralph, something different but it ended up quite nice. I really like these images.
Glad you enjoyed it Thanos, not something I would do all the time but it's always fun to try new stuff. Thank you for watching and commenting
Should you protect the camera from sea spray doing this

Great to see you trying new types of photography, it's always fun trying something new, I'm very sure you had a lot of fun. Great video!!!

Nice try Ralph, done a fair bit of surfer snapping in West Wales, its not easy but a 100-400mm lens gives better reach
