3- Tesla fanboys: the Model S is the best car ever made, has always been and will always be
4- Audi fanboys... Nowhere to be seen because the A8 is a pos, but we don't mind
5- Maserati and Jaguar fanboys: at least it's not german.

s class for being driven in classic comfort and 7 series when u are a busy person and wanna do lot of stuff in comfort and in a modern way.

I test drove a brand new 5 series a few days ago, which has practically the same interior interior as the 7 series and if you dont like the interior, you've clearly never sat in the car let alone driven or owned one. The interior is insane. Its very special.
I look forward to buying one of these in 10 years time for the price of a Dacia Sandero.

mitja čebulj I did drive the current S-class, but not the 7-series. The S-class objectively is the class leader if you're judging the passenger seat, but as a driver it's not that good. Even the key is the cheap key from 2006 C-class, the infotainment is a bit of a pain to use, the car is quite heavy and it feels like it doesn't like corners, some controls are oddly positioned etc. A8 is just getting a bit old now to be honest, just need to wait for the new one. But the 7-series is spot on

Maybe the only car these days which has really changed compared to the previous modell. love the enterior and the exterior too. Thats a real great luxury sedan of 2016.
The leather on the side if the drivers seat looks so cheap all loose like that.

Having driven both the S class and 7 series...BMWs always out drive. They are a driver's car. I was privileged enough to own a late 5 series with a big inline six mated to a six speed manual when stationed in Germany and it is/was the best driving car I have ever owned to this day
The Bowers & Wilkins sound system in this is apparently mind blowing and like a home theatre on wheels
OK! We heard and saw your review. However, I do not appreciate your criticism of the gear shifter/lever. You may not like it's position, trust me, many, many of us love it the way BMW designed and situated it. That's the ideal/practical location for a gear shifter. And it's not fat, it does not obstruct anything, so why are you complaining about it. This is a Bimmer and not a Mercedes Benz. We lovers of BMW do not like gear shifters on the steering column. For all purposes, BMW got it right at the right spot. please don't mess with it. If you don't like it, perhaps you need to get an MBZ. Period. Thanks.

Not true because on CNet and CarMagazine.co.uk (for example, it's not the only ones) the 7 Series comes on top. The S Class seems to "win" most of the time, and in the big magazines (auto express, motortrend), but it doesn't wipe the floor with the 7.
Petar Juric well mate im on my 3rd mercedes now and i own a cls 350cdi shooting break, bought it brandnew last year. Before that i had a 5 series bmw so i think i know what im talking about. Im not a merc fanboy, just think most modern mercs are better looking and more upmarket than bmws these days

Love the car wow reviews but thought the review on this car was a little harsh or perhaps rather not in depth enough. I own this car fully speced with fridge and all, sold the s500 and will never own a Mercedes again after this. Most people dont realise what the new 7 did. In terms of the review, I've seen more praise on Audis and other new 2018/2019s that were introduced by this 7 series tech, handling and spec wise. Now design and looks wise opinions will always differ but quality and tech related, believe me when i say the 7 has leap frogged the S class. This from someone that owned and lived with both. The 7 is still in the garage.

There are many (rich) people with bad taste, so sales doesn't really say anything about the objective beaty of each car. The S-class is also pretty much the go-to car if you want a big luxury saloon, so people might just buy it because of that and the image.

+carwow youre missing the point. not all kinds of cars have to be reviewed in the same way. for instance on this car you can review details that are not even measureable on normal cars. also you can do a 3-way review with the new panamera and the s-class and see decibel levels inside whilst on a highway. bump force levels. performance. premium services offered by manufacturers. etc...sometimes it pays to be less cheeky and it will still be interesting

The problem with the 7-series is that it doesn't seem special. The chrome bits are black on this model, making the overall appearance less gaudy, but this is still a chintzy car. The S-Class is elegant, clean and effortless, despite being three years old now. That BMW shifter looks so out of place on this car. It could've used a redesign. This is a glorified 5 series with a bunch of gadgets. The S Class is still king.

You can solve the visibility issue by getting the cameras in the front of the car so you only need to get the nose out at T-junctions.

If there is 3 people in the back seat you cannot control the seats as the controls are in the armrest which cannot be pulled in as the third passenger occupies the place... meanwhile the S class has the seat controls in the door trim

Yeah, that's why IMO it does not make economical sense buying a luxury car brand new.
True story. We’ve been lucky enough to have had 3. I’ve really enjoyed the experience though... the aesthetics and the ride. It feels like a sporty limousine. It’s my subjective taste. But, I totally agree about the depreciation. A luxury sedan like this is geared towards comfort and impression, not utility. Cars are not investments because despite the use of getting from A to B, technology, power, and reliability are the essentials. If you enjoy the beautiful machine for what it is and are not too attached to its relevance and cash value, you will be happy for what it is- a luxury functional item that is disposable by the fact that those in the market for this car want and can buy something new. Also, those that want to buy the used and aged sedan are better off using that money on something new for the tech and reliability of a new machine. Hence, lower resale value. My humble opinion behind the logic of the depreciation.
God, what is it with German manufacturers putting the most obnoxiously bright headlights on their cars? They claim it's "for safety and visibility" but, let's be honest, that argument is null and void when you're blinding everyone else on the road. Perhaps it's more a case of "safety for those who can afford it, death for the peasants"?

Idk what you're talking about but if the headlights are aimed properly they don't blind you, I barely get blinded by Audi, Mercedes or BMW

the interior , from youtube videos looks killer but once u get in, touch it (the buttons, the air vents), it doesnt feel that nice , just like what Matt said in the video.

the gesture control seems like a gimmick to me, using the steering wheel buttons seems like a much more reliable and safe way of controlling the volume.
