You got this! When I started trying to lose weight, I was at 460lbs. I was absolutely miserable. I would try to lose weight before, but I was trying to eat right at 1000 calories. Then that time I started eating a basic 2000 calorie diet and exercising 4 times a week. I ended up getting down to 280lbs but I’ve been plateaued for 2 years. I’ve been making progress over the last 5 weeks though, and I feel like I’m going to be consistent this time. The main thing I’d recommend is always be willing to adapt. My plan has changed numerous times; some things I made stricter; some things I’ve made more lax; but I’ve had to be able to adapt to how my body was changing overtime. Again, Lord help us, we got this, man! 👍

It's quite nice to go for long walks in nature. You can listen to a podcast, music or audio book. Or just listen to the sounds of the forest. It helps with stress levels. And let's say you walk for 2 hours, well, then you got a bit of burn too. That's something I personally try to incorporate.

For what it's worth, I think these videos are a genuinely valuable resource for anyone trying to change something about themselves, whether its weight or something entirely different. I'd say you are quite introspective and thoughtful on this and hearing you think through it can be applied to many other dimensions of change.
You can do it Ant! Some peaks and valleys are expected on a long journey like this.

Great to see you talking about this again, Ant. As other people have said, these videos are a great tool to see your progress over time and stay accountable with yourself and others. Might be worth asking someone you trust to be an accountability partner that you can check in with on a daily basis. Either a friend, family member or someone in your community!

I would recommend allowing yourself cheat days (1 or 2) or cheat meals, and when it happens, you just pick up where you left off the next day. Keep the bad days to a minimum, 1 or 2 days max, and then just keep going on the health journey. Easier said than done, but it helps mentally knowing you can have a cheat day/meal once a week.

    • @leandrodiaz5433

cheat days are usually a bad idea. you can fuck up a lot of progress on the week if you really go wild (people that love eating food usually do)

Something that works well for me is to order pre-made meals. That way you can consistently save money and have healthy nutritious food. Most providers these days also give you a ton of different options so you won't eat the same food for more than a day in a row.

If you happen to read this, it doesn't have to be like a full time job. Do 5 days a week for like 30 to 40 mins a day.
    Monday: Back and biceps.
    Tues: chest and triceps
    Weds:legs
    Thursday: shoulders
    Friday: 22 minutes of cardio
Weekends: Rest, maybe go on a walk.
Consistency is key. Stick to it, and you will have gains like no other. This is what i have been doing for the past 2 and a half years.
To anyone who happens to read this, I hope it helps.

I'm sure you're tired of random people giving you advice, but I thought we're similar enough psychologically, that what worked for me might work for you I'm 33, been overweight my whole life, since I was 19 I've been losing and gaining weight on and off, just like you over the last couple years. I've been about 180lbs at my best, 255 at my worst. The problem with strict workout routines and strict diets was that it was never sustainable. Cheat days to treat myself or to help with stress became cheat weeks. So, long story short, for the last year and a half, I've been intermittent fasting, specifically eating one meal a day (allowing myself 1 hour to stuff myself with whatever I want), and then just taking liquids for the rest of the day (not just water - coffee, sodas, etc. - but not smoothies). And in about 16 months I lost 35lbs effortlessly. It takes a couple weeks for you to adjust and to stop feeling hungry, but now I have a lot more energy throughout the day, my sugar cravings are gone, for the most part I gravitate towards healthier and more varied foods now naturally, but if occasionally if I want to stuff my face with a large pizza and some ice cream, I still can do that. Oh and I still have periods of regular exercise and periods of laziness, but as long as I stick to the 1 meal a day thing, i tend to be in a caloric deficit anyway. Apologies for the super long comment, but I've struggled with weight for a long time, in a way very similar to yourself, and the last year and a half has been effortless for me, and for the first time in my life I'm constantly getting healthier at a good pace without feeling like I'm sacrificing anything, so I thought I'd throw it out there as an option to consider. Anyway, congrats on all the recent records Ant, beautiful new branding/motion graphics, etc, and keep the great content coming. Cheers!

Hi Ant, Fan from switzerland here. Don't loose hope. It's a marathon not a sprint. I've never been a healthy / sport kind a guy. But I managed to loose weight and just do 2-3 times 30min excercise a week since november 23. I've been doing it for medical reasons but I love hove much more energy you have and how healthier I am. Don't overdo it with excersie, every 30mins is better than nothing. It's not speedrunning ;-) slow and steady wins the race. Wish you all the best.

Hey man, i watch a lot of your stuff after you stream and so i dont pop into your chat much. i appreciate your openness about your health endeavors, im in the process of doing something similar and honestly its like a full time job on top of other actual work. it can be disheartening when the progress stops or slows. im not here to offer you advice or anything, i just wanted to say that i appreciate you talking about something i think a lot of people deal with, i definitely do, and im rooting for you to get to where you want to be. i think a lot of streamers are disingenuous but you have become one of my favorites for how you carry yourself and this is another example of why i appreciate your style of content. i think you can do what you want to do with getting to your goal, and im just one username on the internet but im pulling for you to get where you want to be. best of luck man!

From what I've learned after losing 100 pounds 7 years ago is that it is an every day thing to keep it off and I still have not gotten down to 170 again, up at 189. I also felt better than ever at 170 and I want to get back there, it's just very tough! I've fluctuated from 180-210 since that big weight loss and I think the emotional ups and downs are normal

so what i notice when it comes to trying to change your life, you have to also see the external influences, for example you stream a video game for long periods of time, and always in a sitting position, you would have to start also incorporating changes that support the lifestyle you want to live. try to do things that help reinforce that healthy lifestyle. maybe stand up when you play? maybe play less hours and dedicate other time into changing your apartment, do things that add inspiration, and gets you excited to wake up and get started with the day

good luck with the process Ant, you can still have pasta and pizza as long as they’re low calorie and rich in protein. There’re lots of healthy recipes. It’s important that you make it your lifestyle so that it becomes consistent. Healthy eating and workingout should be enjoyable not painful. Also keeping it controlled, even slow and not rushing is important whether it’s calorie deficit or surplus that your body adapts well to the new lifestlye. For me, gym was for gaining weight but I had difficulties maintaining it too. It goes well when you find your ideal diet.

You the man Anthony - did it once, you’ll kill it again. Sugar, carbs, alcohol are the pitfalls - don’t diet, just reduce volume. Try drink only water and say tea for a month. Have treats and find a new snack - instead of a chocolate bar try peanut butter on a rice cake or something. I think doing your monthly videos are going to be a big aid and motivational drive👌

its okay.. 90% of people that diet down can't keep the weight off and also balloon back up to their original weight.. Its about maintaining the healthy habits you do during a 'diet' and not just going back to your old self after you hit your goal weight.

My unsolicited advice would be to look into Body by Science. It's worked great for me, so long as I don't cheat on my diet. I eat one zebra cake and I say f it and eat ice cream for 3 weeks and bla bla bla, you know the routine on a "food relapse." For me, 1 dessert is too many, 1,000 is not enough.

I'm glad you are getting back on the horse. Finding your maintaining weight is definitely a task, but so worth it. About 10-11 years ago I shot up to 210 pounds when I'd always been very lean, so I worked to get down to 170 and stayed that way when I had an energy-intensive life. But that wasn't maintainable long-term, so I eventually found my sweet spot at 180 and have been there for the past 7 years. You can absolutely find your sweet spot and I can't wait to see your progress
