I did a 1968 Datsun back in 1975. 327 194 double bump heads, 11:1, 4-speed. It was a blast. I loved the sweet spot in second gear between 3,000 and 6000 rpm, as I would keep pace with my competitor until the sweet spot, then nail it with 3.23 gears, putting a smile on my face and the competitor in the rear view mirror. It was fun playing with Camaros, Novas, Mustangs and V8 Vegas. My brother had a 340 Demon, but we never raced as his buddy rolled it!

I'll bet that was a blast!! Thanks for sharing the story!!! Sorry to hear about the Demon....loved those cars! Where did you get 3.23 gears? Were those in the factory 521 rear end? Mike

@@bluehandsvideo Originally I scavenged a 1970 Torino with 302 and c4 but when I had the chance to build the 327, it seemed reasonable to swap it up. The rear end was from the Torino. It was a couple inches wide, but I just used 60 series tires on the rear. The original 1300 motor had the 5:21 and it maxed out at 65mph.... I wanted to go a bit faster.

@@bluehandsvideo As far as I know, I was the first to do that swap and a few years later it became more popular, probably because of the size with a full frame. The Vega v8s kept twisting up.

    Absolutely beautiful.
The engineering, machining, form, fit, finish, detail and function all add up to mechanical art.
The assembled vehicle is also a beautiful work of art.
    Nicely executed.

OMFG, a V8 powered Datsun. Now that's something you don't see everyday. Big thumbs up, nice work Bory and Mike.

You'd think they'd be extremely rare.....but both of the 13" brake setups and two of the ball joint setups went on 521 datsun trucks with v8's. lol The other is still a long ways from being on the road. Thanks!!

Great brake work! A lot of time and effort went into that Datsun truck build. Once again, your machine work is top quality. You deserve a break.

He did an amazing job!! I didn't want to do the 13" brakes at first until I found out he was putting 12" on the rears.....so 10" up front would have looked dumb......so I did the 13's. lol

    Very Good. Cool car too.
Your part is the brake disc hats as we call them (that is your part ??)
And the Brake Caliper mounts also ??
In will go and have a look at your video you left in the description, maybe that will answer my questions.
Thanks for posting the video, very interesting project to be involved in.
    Regards Peter.

Yes, I did the hat and caliper mount. I also did the modified lower control arms and custom upper to convert the truck from kingpins to ball joints. If I remember right, I also did the adjustable tension rods and tie rod adjusters. It was quite the project! Thanks for watching it. I've got vids of creating the pieces. Bory did a ton of work on this truck. Here's a link to the build thread he did. It looks like the pics are still okay....photobucket messed up a lot of threads on the Ratsun.net forum. ratsun.net/topic/59696-project-datstang/

....of they parts I made? I did put some pics on my site that he sent while building the truck, but they're not really installation related. I've got vids on my channel of building the parts, but again, no real "install". I can't afford the rotors he used! LOL

    • @bluehandsvideo
      @bluehandsvideo  7 років тому

These particular UCAs only work with the modified LCAs. They're part of the ball joint mod I do for the kingpin trucks. It would be a lot easier, but this setup maintains stock track width......that's what adds the challenge to it. lol If you want to see the new, adjustable version of this UCA(for this kit), msg me via YT or my site.... www.bluehandsinc.com and I'll send you an unlisted link with some CAD pics of it. I'm currently trying to finish up the CAD/CAM work on them so that I can start making chips this week. I already have the stock in house and I just got my mill put back together this morning. :)
