Glad I saw this video. I was going to weld up the holes on the stock hardbody hubs and redrill them to 5 lug. Could this be done the other way around? As in, could I put a 720 hub on my toyota spindle to get 6 lugs? Maybe with the addition of a spacer, instead of lathing material away?
I've been asked about it before. It wouldn't be as easy since I'm pretty sure the spindle would have to be machined. The diameters are okay, but the spindle is a bit too long. Hmm...a spacer at the base of the spindle? That might take up the length, but you'd want to make sure the seal had a place to ride. Is the toyota front steer? You might check to see if the ball joint tapers are the same.....maybe you can just swap spindles? The trucks have a similar length and width, so the Ackerman angle should be close enough. It's been years since I've looked at the details. I machined a Mustang II spindle for a friend so that he could run HB hubs to get 6 lugs. It was a dropped spindles, so it's overall height was short enough to barely fit on my lathe. A stock spindle is typically too tall to fit.

Hey blue hands nice information on the video. Will this mod also work on the 82 datsun 720 with the thinner rotors. Thanks, and what would the best year toyota be, to get hubs from
Thanks. Yes and no. The early 720 spindles are the same as the 620. I haven't looked at them closely, but I believe the caliper mounting is different. I've never looked to see if the later 720 caliper will mount onto the 620 spindle. The hubs are the same, so the spindle itself is the same.....so a toyota hub could be put on it using this method, but I'm not sure the caliper can. You can, however, swap a late 720 or Hardbody spindle assembly onto your early 720. This 5 lug swap is setup for those spindles. The spacing would not be correct on a mid model 720. Yep...the 720 had 3 different spindles. The pics at the bottom of this page will give you the breakdown on the years. www.bluehandsinc.com/hub-info.html The originator of this and his build thread are here.... www.infamousnissan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12628 I believe he references '85 Toy hubs. I'm not sure how many years had the same hub.
Yes. You can swap the HB spindles onto a 720...or even a 620. You can put a 620 spindle on a HB, but I can't imagine why you'd want to. lol The hubs will pretty much interchange too. You can put a 620 hub on a HB spindle with an HB rotor/caliper. You can put an HB hub on a 620 spindle with a 620 rotor/caliper.....although the centering lugs on the HB hub are way to big to fit behind a 620 wheel. You can mix and match the hubs on the spindles as long as you use the rotor/caliper for that spindle. You can mix/match the spindles on the trucks, as long as you use a hub/rotor/caliper setup that will work on that spindle. And...the calipers on the mid and late 720's are the same as the ones on the HB's.
+bluehandsvideo I don't know much about these trucks I need help. I'm trying to figure out the name of my engine. so I can figure out what parts to buy for it. it's a 87. v6 carburated. it seems vg30 doesn't come carb as far as I know. so what engine do I have? I was trying to find a turbo kits but I don't think there's a blow through carb for this. also if the Weber carb kit will fit on my engine. I'm very stuck
Sorry to say, but I'm the wrong guy to ask. Anything newer than about '72 was a parts donor for me. lol I know that guys have put carbs on them before.....maybe someone did that before you got it. Hi Jake....you're the local guy...right? I'll send you a msg via youtube. If I post a price here, someone will see it in 3 years and expect me to stick to it. LOL The specs and the seal number for this mod are in this thread..... www.infamousnissan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12628
Are you looking for him to do the conversion for you? You might want to message him directly in case he doesn't see it here. If you're looking to have your hubs machined for the conversion, I'm the guy you would need to talk to. :)
The bearings are the same in both hubs, but the spacing between them is different. The toy spindle is a bit longer, so you might be able to put a spacer on the spindle, then put the nissan hub on. I've never tried.....I've never had a toy spindle here.
I shut the shop down over a year ago. Machining them on a lathe is definitely the best way, but you can grind the area down with an angle grinder. It's a lot easier if you remove the studs first.
Hello, i love the content, by any chance can you build a 6 lug hub for a 2002 5 lug tacoma? i want to do a 6 lug conversion to it but I don't think i'll ever find the parts.
Thanks! I'm happy to hear you like it. Can I make the actual hub....hmmm.....I suppose it might be possible with the equipment I have, but I wouldn't do it. The hubs on your tacoma use the same bearings as the nissan d21 Hardbody 2wd pickup. With out a hub here, I have no clue if the distance between the bearings is the same or close. Considering that I bring the toyota bearings closer together on this modification, that means the toy hub is "longer" than the HB's. You're trying to go the other way, so if the taco hub is similar to the older one used in my mod, you may just need to have a spacer behind the inner bearing to hold the hub out a bit. It would probably need to be pretty precise and have a surface for the wheel seal to ride on. I don't have any toyota spindles here either. If I did, they'd be much older anyway and probably of no help. If you can pick up a nissan disc brake hub, you could probably do the measuring and test fitting yourself to answer the question of whether it might work or not. Any of the hubs from the 620(with discs), 720, and HB would work. They all use the same bearing and most of their dimensions are identical. I don't have time to do any of the machine work it might require, at this time, but you can contact me through my site www.bluehandsfab.com ......I might have time to answer a few questions.
@@bluehandsvideo Thank you so much for the well explained response! at this point I'm almost considering fabricating a new 6 lug spindle, that might be a little easier now that I think about it specially since it will primarily be used for off road use. but once again, Thank you so much! and by the way! I'm from California, and I have family in Gresham. Really nice place!
@@sergiochavez1673 Wow! Family in Gresham?! LOL You're one of the few people who I've come across that even knows where Gresham is, let alone have family here. :) Did I mention Gresham in the video? If you're going to fabricate a spindle, you might consider the newer style bolt on versions. You could use a Chevy....if the bolt pattern matches. It wouldn't matter that the center of the hub has a hole in it for the axle. Hmmm.....Actually, you might look up Chad Criss Designs. He's on IG and FB. I'm not finding them right now, but I thought he had done some work with Tacoma spindles. I know he's fabricated some spindles and used bolt on hub assemblies with them. These aren't his, but it will give you an idea of what I'm referring to. solomotorsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Fully-Fabricated-Toyota-Spindles-Suspension-8.jpg

@@sergiochavez1673 Ah....yep, I remember saying it in that vid. I didn't remember saying it in this vid. lol I've thought about doing some fabricated spindles. I haven't had the time to do the research. I want to use bearing assemblies like that, but I want to find ones that are the same except for one is 5 lug and one is 6 lug. If I get really lucky, I'll be able to have a 4 lug option too. :)
LOL.....if you get a notification with a weird reply....I was doing the reply from another area and didn't realize the question was about the hubs and not the UCA I just posted about. Sorry, I don't know. I have no clue what the spindle is like on the 2wd version of the pathy. If it's the same as the 4wd version, just without the drive axle going through it, then no, it won't work.....completely different bearings. Do you have any idea if the HB spindles will swap into the 2wd pathy? If they will, they you can do that first....then this will work.
@@bluehandsvideo I figure as much because it is like a 4wd without the drive axle, that's what I was trying to figure out and i know people have put HB down spindles in Pathfinders before, I have a guy on my Facebook with a boddied Pathfinder so he can maybe steer me in the right direction. As far as what will fit. I want to LS swap my Pathfinder and do a five lug swap up front with 8.8 rear out of a ford.
@@MySickDesire If you're looking to really lower the pathy, you might consider just grafting an HB front frame clip onto the front of the pathy. I know it's been done before, but I don't know anything else about it. Good luck!!

I got a 720, and I’m looking into getting some toy hubs machined. I can send you hubs or buy two off of you if you have a pair, and just pay for labor + ship
Sorry to say....this doesn't work with the 720 spindles because of the differences in the rotors. You can swap HB spindles straight onto your 720. I don't provide any hubs, I just do the machine work. There's a place at the bottom of this page that can provide the Toy hubs and they will ship straight to me if you want. The pricing is under the pics/vids. They will not ship them cleaned up, so take note that having me clean them costs more. www.bluehandsinc.com/5-lug-swap-nissan-d21-hardbody.html If you're going to swap to HB spindles, it's a good time to buy dropped spindles if you want to go lower. You just need the HB spindles and calipers since you'll be changing the hubs and rotors.
bluehandsvideo go lower as in? I want to keep the same stance. I’ve gotten 3” blocks for the rear and lowered torsion. I could just install HB spindles and direct fit? Could I also get your email or phone number for faster responses
Dropped spindles would allow you to turn the torsion bars back up a bit and actually have some suspension......otherwise, HB spindles are a direct swap.....disconnect the ball joints, tie rods and brake line....swaps straight across.
How much would it cost to have these done? Also, what would you have to do to convert the rear axle to 5 lug? I am guessing axle shafts but any mods to them?
Scott Edwards msg me for the price....or contact me via my site www.bluehandsinc.com Some guys switch to Toyota rearends. I think one guy was able to redrill the axle flange. I just got a rear end in a week or so ago just so that I can look into the redrilling aspect....but it's low on the list right now.

The originator of this and his build thread are here....

I believe he references '85 Toy hubs. I'm not sure how many years had the same hub.
will the later Later 720 or hard body spindle fit with the early 720 ball joints. Thanks again for your help
Yes. You can swap the HB spindles onto a 720...or even a 620. You can put a 620 spindle on a HB, but I can't imagine why you'd want to. lol
The hubs will pretty much interchange too.
I have a 87 hardbody. Has disk front and drum rear. drop spindles too. can I convert to toyota 5 lug? and what year and model hubs
Yes, you can. Here's a link to the thread with the info. The hub info is right at the start. :)
There's lots of knowledgeable buys on Ratsun.net and Infamousnissan.com. I wish I had a better answer for you. Mike
I know this is a very old video but do you still do this for ppl?
I started doing it again. The info about it is on my site....here... www.bluehandsinc.com/5-lug-swap-nissan-d21-hardbody.html
You can contact me via the site about doing the work or there's enough info on the page to have a local shop do it....if you can find one. :)
Mike
Very nice information! Ty
hey blue hands. this is jake from scrappingpavement on youtube. i was watching your video on machining a toyota hub to fit a hardbody spindle. do you take orders if so how much would you charge or do you have specs where i can take some hubs to a local machine shop. thanks
Chat Conversation End
Hi Jake....you're the local guy...right? I'll send you a msg via youtube. If I post a price here, someone will see it in 3 years and expect me to stick to it. LOL
The specs and the seal number for this mod are in this thread.....

scrappingpavement willing to pay for a Toyota Hub swap as well for all four wheels
Are you looking for him to do the conversion for you? You might want to message him directly in case he doesn't see it here. If you're looking to have your hubs machined for the conversion, I'm the guy you would need to talk to. :)
if I shipped you some Toyota hubs for my Nissan hardbody could you do this machine work ? if so how much , im very interested thanks eric
I can. I sent you the price via message.
I deleted your reply so that a bot can't grab your email.
Thank you
Is it possible to put the hb 6 lug on my 91 toyota?
The bearings are the same in both hubs, but the spacing between them is different. The toy spindle is a bit longer, so you might be able to put a spacer on the spindle, then put the nissan hub on. I've never tried.....I've never had a toy spindle here.
I have 97 corolla, what parts do i need to do the 5 lugs conversion?
Sorry, but this conversion is specifically to put toy 5 lug hubs on a Nissan Hardbody(D21) pickup. I have zero clue about anything corolla.
Can I send you my hubs to get this done too. I have a set of 88 Toyo hubs
Sorry. Shutdown around the first of the year
contact instagram.com/kielbasaind/ .....he's said before that he'd do them.
How can I get my hubs done or a address to send them to ?
I shut the shop down over a year ago. Machining them on a lathe is definitely the best way, but you can grind the area down with an angle grinder. It's a lot easier if you remove the studs first.
Think you, I wish that I could get them done and I would know that they were done right, but think you for the info
Please could I get the detail numbers B/F side that I need them machine to, if so think you for your help again!!!!
@@scottiegodette8881 here's the info....be sure to check it over carefully. www.bluehandsvideo.com/5-lug-swap-nissan-d21-hardbody.html
@bluehandsvideo think very very much
Hello, i love the content, by any chance can you build a 6 lug hub for a 2002 5 lug tacoma? i want to do a 6 lug conversion to it but I don't think i'll ever find the parts.
@@bluehandsvideo yeah, my aunt lives up there. I really wanted to go this thanks giving vacation but it didn't happen. And yeah I saw that video where you showed us your shop. You mentioned it. Yeah! Thats what I want to do. And the chevy 6 lug would work perfectly. Im going to check out some videos and hopefully get working on them soon! Thanks
@@sergiochavez1673 Ah....yep, I remember saying it in that vid. I didn't remember saying it in this vid. lol
I've thought about doing some fabricated spindles. I haven't had the time to do the research. I want to use bearing assemblies like that, but I want to find ones that are the same except for one is 5 lug and one is 6 lug. If I get really lucky, I'll be able to have a 4 lug option too. :)
Do you know if this will work on a 2wd Pathfinder?
Good luck!!
How much would it cost to do this?
The specs and info are on my site still. The price was $80 when I was doing it.

If you can't find a local machine shop to do the work, contact me through my website, I might have another option for you.
Are you selling these hubs
sorry, no. You can find them in the scrapyard or on ebay. I had a machinist to send people to, but his shop got torched by some punk. Yes, just for the front. The rear axle is a completely different setups.
Would it be possible to order a pair of these?

Hi there
Am about to pick up a 1974, 620 with all around drum brakes
Do you have a kit that has everything with out my going around looking for hubs, caliper, etc.. Send me a massage on the price if you do thanks
+Juan Jimenez A kit to put 5 lugs around your 620? Sorry...no. I have a kit for putting discs on the front of your truck, but not the rear. It does not include hubs, calipers, etc. My kit is the only one that will work with 14" stock rims. If you have 15" or bigger rims, there are a couple of guys on ebay that have kits. One guy has a rear kit, but you need 15" rims for them.
The info on my kit is on my site bluehandsinc.com
Ok great.. Thanks for the info. So were would I be able to get the hubs, calipers, rotors, ect.. From?
I know you give the years of a 710 but what year should I look for for my truck
Thanks jc
+Juan Jimenez As long as we're talking about 6 lug discs for your truck.... click through on the titles on the site....most should say "click for more info".

How would I get in contact with you on getting some done?
You can contact me thru my site www.bluehandsinc.com if you can't msg me via youtube.
Would you still be able to do this?
I do still do this. You send me a clean, grease free set of hubs with the bearing races removed and I machine the inner/outer bearing shelves and take an 1/8" off the nose....and then ship them back via usps flat rate priority. $80 total. You can msg me via YT, IG or contact me via my site bluehandsinc.com for shipping/paypal info.

Good explanation/modification

Mazda b2200 conversion plz......
Sorry.....almost zero chance it will ever happen. I don't have any mazda stuff to reference.
They will not ship them cleaned up, so take note that having me clean them costs more. www.bluehandsinc.com/5-lug-swap-nissan-d21-hardbody.html
If you're going to swap to HB spindles, it's a good time to buy dropped spindles if you want to go lower.
Your youtube isn't set up for me to msg you, so you can email me via my contact page on my site. www.bluehandsinc.com/contact-bhi.html
bluehandsvideo could you redrill rotors to 5x4.5
Amazing job man thank you very much :)
You're more than welcome. :) I've posted the info on my site.... www.bluehandsinc.com/5-lug-swap-nissan-d21-hardbody.html
How much would it cost to have these done? Also, what would you have to do to convert the rear axle to 5 lug? I am guessing axle shafts but any mods to them?
Scott Edwards msg me for the price....or contact me via my site www.bluehandsinc.com
Some guys switch to Toyota rearends. I think one guy was able to redrill the axle flange. I just got a rear end in a week or so ago just so that I can look into the redrilling aspect....but it's low on the list right now.
