Complete pro! Good call on the compressor, I had to pull the studs out to clear the space to remove it, but after that, Alternator was easy. You are the best!

Thanks!!!! The wife’s t&c showed battery light. Tested battery and replaced. Thought that was it, but next day same thing and it went to limp mode where it wouldn’t go over 40 mph. Everything I read says alternator. So I get to replace it tomorrow. This video is a God send. And yes, you are good at what you do.

Great video but just to verify, you simply unhook the ac pump from housing but DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT disconnect the ac pump line connectors or you will deplete the ac system of freon.

I got my alternator off without taking the tire off and without a jack N I'm like 175lbs. I did what he did up until the ac compressor. I knew not to mess wit that! Seen a comment then called my dad he agreed with the guy who commented that dnt touch the ac compressor. Instead take the radiator fan (plastic crap) took me and hour just to take the fan off 😂. Its easy the water reservoir it pops off. I took off the tube/ plug thingy off that ended up being attached to the reservoir. Then I unplugged the top plug with a flat head screw driver I had to lift the red tab little by little then squeeze it at the middle where the grey is then another tab same thing little harder. I pushed the plastic tabs on fan in like 20 times while doing this 😂 bcuz I didn't know tge reservoir came off wasn't until last plug it fell off. So for hours before N after the fan thing my alternator felt like it had another bolt but it would move pretty far but was something keeping it there 😠. It was the big radiator hose all I did was wiggle alternator then moved the hose bamb fell off but was caught by the hose... So I took it across the inside where the radiator fan was came up N out where the reservoir area was. It was like a puzzle. Now I could probably get the alternator back on within 20mins. I have really bad wrists N weak. If I can do it almost anybody can. Oh my van is a 2013 Chrysler, Town N country Touring(I think lol).

After all that my alternator was still stuck felt like more screws but moved... It was the big radiator or a/c hose in the way. I moved it and took the radiator all the way out very easy through reservoir(plastic container area). I have bad wrists N very weak but I managed to do it I'm a 39yr old female. I tested my alternator at AutoZone I couldn't understand the lady so she just showed ne the meter thing. My battery was good but my alternator output failed. After I got the alternator off yesterday I took it back to AutoZone and the guy said it passed measuring 14. Something. I told the guy but it failed explained everything to him. Long story... My ac/ heater I ended up turning off bcuz I thght my daughter's friends were messing with me. One said I'm cold other said she was burning up. Well then it starts turning on going different numbers. It was crazy plus my lights were getting bright N then dim. Scary cuz we were in the hills N I had a bunch of teens with me. I was worrying if the van was going to shutoff. I warned them if it does look b4 u get out of the van and get up N out of the street. Well made it home safe. Still did the light thing but was fine 2 wks N dead as a door nail. My bf tried to get in it so he used the key then got the probe stuck😂. So now he said well maybe its a short cuz he didn't think it was my battery N he didn't knw the alternator could kick ur heater controls on. So he said maybe a short but also they use higher voltage and dnt run it as long so maybe it is the alternator.. Took it to O'Reilly's and well it passed again but they had no real answers 😒. My bf was trying to get me to put the alternator back in he'd help me. I said y tho?! He said will jump it then take the cables off the battery , to see if it would charge the alternator N stay running. I refused😂 told him if he'd like to pay for a new computer for $500? Explained I had read a comment not to do that. Not sure if its true but no chances here. Called my dad put him on speaker he said oh maybe not sure with these new cars. So I won no battery cable testing 😂. I kept asking my dad N everyone I've dealt with if my van has a cuplar I think its called. Tomorrow I'm going to check. Thankz for responding and I actually enjoyed the video AJ did but I think he should really try the way u suggested hella easier!! I dnt mess with ac compressors' I'm koo 😂. Well thanks again ☺. Up still 3am worrying😂.

howdy -- great vid and close-up. nice work. I admit that warning flares went off in my head when people started talking about backing out the AC compressor studs. We are talking about aluminum block and stripping one of those too easy. there's no mention (from anyone) about torque settings AND the OEM approved thread locker that should be used. I suggest that "just screw it back in" not ideal and setting stage for future prob. my 0.02...

@@hollielynn9264 hello. I suggest a good investment would be a torque wrench. If not used frequently, you can rent for likely less than $20.
Some Google searches might find the torque settings - or maybe a conversation with tech at local service shop. Best wishes....

I didnt jack anything up, I took out fan and air box, removed top radiator hose from radiator, slight loss of coolant, nothing major, i had a catch pan so not to leave anything on ground, all and all, was easy getting to connections and bolts, little trickery getting it out but again, not as bad as removing all other major components, second one I did was in a garage took less than hour, compared to the time took to one outside on the fly took about hour and half.

Alternator went out on mine Sept 19th last year & I was working too much so had to put it in the shop, cost me $800. Alternator went out again Aug 9th. I was wondering how I'm suppose to get this mf off without taking the compressor off & usually causes ac leaks & bad o-rings. Goodyear said it didn't need the compressor to come off so I said FUCK IT & let them deal with it. Now the ac needs to be charged & more than likely, the o rings aren't worth jack so another alternator, the vacuum pump, o rings, & freon is in my future......every year. 🙄

Yep, my parents bought a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country new. Soon as the warranty runs out, repairs left and right. Master Cylinder, alternator, radiator, various fuses. I can go on & on . My 1997 Toyota Camry still had the original alternator and radiator when I got rid of it a few months back

Christopher Johnson You know they funny thing is. Before this, all my folks bought were Toyota or Lexus. They wanted a van or SUV, I told them to get a Toyota Highlander, 4Runner, or Sienna. A church friend was a sales manager at a FCA dealer at the time, so he reeled them in.
