I had a coworker tell me I should just start replying no to outlook invites for meetings that I don't need to be in and it's improving my productivity by a lot. It's scary how much time can be wasted by someone blindly forwarding meeting invites. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with the rest of us.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Mr. Tom. I was drawn to this channel for the beautiful avocados and stayed for the life and career advice! As an engineering student who is close to graduating and on track to enter the corporate world, I am trying to make sense of future plans for my life and career. During my college career, I have interned with a major automotive component manufacturer and while I did enjoy the work, I can already tell that there is much, much more to life than working a corporate job 40, 50, 60+ hours/week until retirement. Like you, I also enjoy down and dirty, jeans and t-shirt hobbies such as fixing up old cars, fishing, cooking, and growing plants. Your philosophies and outlook on life are very infectious and inspiring. I appreciate you taking the time to share some resources that helped you improve your skills and be successful. I am going to check out the books you recommended. Maybe I'll read them while snacking on some simmonds and lychee! Cheers!

yes, the financial model has certainly shifted with recent demand for property around here. I hate to see all the groves going down to make way for developments but people need a place to live too.

@@SleepyLizard My Simmonds also have quite a few “babies” on it also! I hope the very strong and sustained winds that we have been subjected to here in Hollywood will be gracious enough to leave a few for us! We were not that fortunate with my Rosigold Mango this year! The blossoms were few this year and the fruit sets even less. To make matters worse, since mid March we have had strong winds almost every day so most of the mangoes have been blown off the tree!😞😞😞😞😞

These topics should be taught in high school. And these books are really great for these topics. We aren't teaching our children how to _live._ We can do better. Also: Consider suggesting that people also find the same books as audiobooks. A lot of us are spectrum Dyslexic, meaning we absorb words better when we hear them. Better for most of us if we get the book _and_ the audiobook. Our local library here in Georgia has all of these books. I really like your marketing format. You've got my wheels turning. _Thank you!_
Hey Laughter, that is an excellent suggestion. One should use whatever learning methodology they've determined to be the most effective. It just so happens I was with some educators last night and they were discussing this very topic.

Am constantly loosing focus, because I can't find ''true'' value in my goals. Am stuck in this ''vanitas vanitatum'' mentality I got from growing too attached to monastics since I was a child. That's everything I really, truly ever wanted, to become a monk, but life here in the world is sweet, I lost focus and since am now married, it's game over lol So, as I approach the age of 40, I find peace in gardening, but no true, deep goals.

I've been trying to get our partner in Malawi to buy some avocado seedlings from Kenya and start an avocado farm; Malawi has the soil, climate and plenty of water to be successful. Unfortunately he hasn't taken to the idea... yet.

if I buy a grafted avocado tree how long do I need to wait till I can take scion wood from the bought tree and graft it onto my trees grown from seed?
you could probably find a cutting or two off a small tree in it's second year. I tried it once off a 3 year old tree but I wasn't successful
So I recently planted my green avocado in the ground and it looks like it more or less took well but

How much does it cost to start a farm from scratch? How much land is required? How many years does it take for a farm to turn a profit? Are there farmers associations in Florida to guide someone interested in running a farming business?

Hi Vanessa, you can graft any variety onto you seedling. Is there one in particular you like?

@@Vanessamor392 yep, you can get Hass and try it out. If you live in Florida you might have some trouble with Hass because of how much rain we get but if you're in Texas or CA you should be fine.
