Asha & Eli ~ Everything is beautiful again

- Asha & Eli sing Asha's composition 'Everything is beautiful again' from their album in progress, provisionally entitled "Shaman Songs." Asha is Asha Elijah (aka Asha & Asher Quinn) and Eli is Eliška Bröcklová.
This song was inspired by the 5th century saint, Patrick of Ireland. Actually, he was Scottish by birth, but was captured by pirates aged 16 and taken to Ireland where he became an animal herder.
His soul full of the Holy Spirit, however, he quickly gained recognition as a Holy man. Along with St. Bridget, he is Ireland's most celebrated saint.
In an extract from one of his sacred poems, he writes of his relationship to the being of the cosmic Christ:
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
At about the same time I came across this closing prayer from the Navajo Blessing Way ceremony:
"Walking in Beauty"
In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again
So I intuitively combined the essence of the two poems, and brought them together in this shamanic song. My adapted words became:
Beauty is in me, when I walk
Beauty is in front of me, when I walk
Beauty is behind me, when I walk
Beauty is below me, when I walk
Beauty is above me, when I walk
Beauty is around me, when I walk
And everything is beautiful again
Eli, my musical colleague, is from Czechia... not so far from Budapest where I live. We started co-creating together musically in 2022, and produced an album called "Spirit Songs"

Now, with this song, we have begun a second project. Eli studies classical music, opera & ballet at a prestigious Academy in Teplice, and has just this month also joined a theatre company in Liberec devoted to opera and musicals, called Malé Divadlo (The Little Theatre).
Alongside these twin paths, Eli has her own independent projects always on the go. She composes, sings, arranges, records & films her own songs, and re-interprets much-loved Czech folk songs, as well.

This song is quite epic, and the filming of it was too!
We arranged to meet on wednesday in Liberec as I was returning to Budapest from seeing a friend in the Netherlands. Liberec is en route! So we had lunch and then went to the amazing Botanical Gardens to film.
After that we climbed Ještěd, a high peak at over 1000 metres, with a designer tower atop a rounded peak, so from afar it kind of looks like an ample breast with an aroused nipple!
The views were extraordinary from up there, and in 32 degrees their special ice-cold non-alcoholic beer with a pinch of grapefruit was like nectar from the Gods.
I slept in a tiny castle hotel room, where I could lie under an open window and feel the breeze. Outside in the paddock were a donkey, goat and llama!
On the thursday, after Eli's rehearsals (her first performance is in the choir for a Dvořak piece set to a mythic fairy-tale Czech poem... as a kid, Dvořak was one of my very favourite composers), she took us to a forest river which had a spring and a shrine to Mária next to it.
We filmed some peaceful sequences there, and then on the way back to Liberec I saw an August hay-field with fabulous views, and we completed the filming there in the baking hot sunshine.
None of this is scripted, by the way, it's all intuitive. But I often find that what I film turns out to have a story-line in accord with the song when I come to edit it!
For example, I filmed a precipice at the end of an investigative rock-climb, and when I came to edit, it matched the line: "Beauty is below me, when I walk," but I didn't realise it at the time. I just wanted to film the exciting precipice.
After the field we took a detour into Poland, and stopped off at a beautiful church. This part of Czechia that borders both Poland & Germany is called The Crystal Valley, and it absolutely compares most favourably with the Dordogne in France. It's a really beautiful part of the world.
Liberec is an arty, student-y, classical, ornate Czech town, but very vibrant, upbeat and youthful. There are vegan cafe's, ice-cream parlours, and a wonderful Moroccan, cool, dark tea room called The Stone Turtle, with cushions on the floor, low tables, exotic teas and board-games. I could hang out there all day!
Eli and I have a soulful, musically co-creative and mutually mentoring connection! We generally talk about God, art, music, psychology, relationships and ice-cream... and sometimes spaghetti.
Generally speaking, whatever it is, everything becomes beautiful again!
