Unusual cooler summer in Minnesota too, and rainy. You work hard getting firewood but it sure is nice to have it done and ready for the cold winter. I hope you had some down time and enjoyed the 4 th of July! Stay safe and have a great week! My garden could use some warm days and our farmers need it too!!

Yep, firewood moving and cutting, never ending in this weather. Hubby is getting a sore back but he says it is so worth it to keep warm in the winter. Stay safe and free!
You're lucky it's cool here in Vancouver Island I basically got to be in the house by at least 11:30 12 noon that's the end of my day because it's just too hot outside my garden is burning up even know that I've got curtain shears over top of my garden to shade it I would love to have some cold weather well not cold but the same as what you guys got

Watching how the tractor makes what looks to be impossible work just “ hard work “ sure ups my respect for generations that went before and had to use winches, pulleys, animals and back breaking labor . Then out came your chain saw and wood splitter! My grandpa used to say wood warms you several times .. cutting , hauling, chopping, stacking, and finally while burning it. With all your “ help” it still warms you at least twice ! No whales but still a great video!
I am envious of that tractor. We hope to have one in the next year or so. Right now we drag most of our wood to the property in winter and slit it in summer. Great video.
ooh and I have the same paint marker as well. I stopped using it as I made a stick with a magnet on it that is 16" long and mount it on my bar and just walk the log making small marks. Works great and is faster as I kept getting clogs in the paint nozzle.

I just loved watching your dog. Your doggo is very protective of you, watching all around to insure your safety, really unconcerned as to what you are doing, he must be very used to your activities. But the doggo is often looking around, perhaps looking for wolves and other predators, always staying close to you!
This has been one of the warmer summers for us June was especially nice. I do have to say it’s way too early to be loosing leaves off the trees. Plus if you keep cutting your logs up for firewood you won’t have any for your sawmill. Of course there is that staying warm thing we also like to do.
Cutting logs, then splitting. Yeah that's hard work. I need to get started on mine.

Everything is relevant to its unique circumstance. A lot of people want to know how much ammo is enough when SHTF. In Alaska, it’s how many cords of wood can you have ready for the winter!!!!

Many years of cutting, splitting and stacking wood. Now in our older age we heat with fuel oil.(3 years now) I so miss the wood heat.

I loved watching you work, especially loved that machine that splits it for you. I remember as a girl watching my grampa splitting firewood the hard way. as i watched you work, i imagined myself there helping you. you split, i stack lol. but in reality I am an old lady in a highrise. all the best to you.

If I had a tractor I'd be lifting up those logs so I wouldn't have to be bending over all the time that's the hardest part about cutting wood you always bent over and yeah big logs too that's why I live off a painkillers now because I used to cut firewood for living big old growth they get heavy and they like to wreck your back

Watched several that leaves the logs on the forks and cuts them up. Easier on the back.
What do you think of that canthook-is it worth the money, or would you have gotten a much cheaper peavey, or canthook with a leg?
What size splitter do you have? How many ton? Is it a good size would you go bigger if possible. As I get older, a bucket has become my best friend! Thanks for sharing!
His splitter looks like a 32 ton... The wood in southeast Alaska doesn't need a huge amount of power to split.. Some people get a 20 ton splitter powered by the same engine ( usually Honda) with a faster ram/return...more splits per hour.... A really heavy ram isn't usually as fast but more splitting power.
