this might sound suprising but I don't use any lube. I clean it once a week on Saturdays and I feel like without lube it turns the cleanest and fastest and most controllable, plus I have a cat and that hair gets stuck onto the lube inside the clock and just trashes my clock.

@@jmurraynz I use tape and I actually now use 2 drops of silk on both sides for my clock and it feels really smooth and good so it's probably worth a try
