Will never get tired of "Angel Heart". I've realized that there are many movies set in Louisiana all about transferring souls to other human bodies: Jessabelle (2014), Get Out (2017), The Skeleton Key (2005), and others. "Angel Heart" is one of them and at the same time, it is not. The novel "Fallen Angel" caries the same, to some extent, expanded, ideas that are present in those movies, but not the adaptation. It would be interesting to hear you speculating why none of these even "Get Out" did not come close to the profundity of "Angel Heart". Probably the significance of the tears in front of the mirror scene is what elevates Alan Parker's version above the others, making it scary on an existential level. Dark sitting figure in his dreams, stairs, fans. What is interesting it seems that Harry did not have a clue that something was not right with him, he was living his life like an average man. What other signs, except dreams haunting the unfortunate detective, what are the clues, or there were none, it was all played out just for a shocking effect in the finale, but the overall story did not make sense. Favorite lost his identity and got memories and everything else from the soldier? On the surface, it doesn't make much sense as you are just giving up your body to another human being. Or Favorite was sitting and waiting, influencing Harry in some way making use of his body and sometimes he would take full control. So is it like a mask to hide the real entity?
God i love this film. I really enjoy movies that reward multiple viewings. Sir Alan Parker was one of the best. With Angel Heart, Mississippi Burning, and The Commitments, hes directed 3 of my top 10 ten films.
