The new Ford Mustang Mach 1 represents what will likely be a last gasp for the naturally aspirated V8 engine in time, especially as Ford is pressing its electric future with the Mustang nameplate, including hotter Mach-E GT, which makes this Mach 1 now the sharpest iteration of the petrol-engined Mustang muscle car you can buy in Europe. With an uprated engine and chassis tweaks for this new version, Ford claims that the Mach 1 is the fastest-ever Mustang around a track you can buy here, too - because the hardcore Shelby GT350 and GT500 versions aren’t available in the UK. It therefore has a fair amount of weight resting on its broad shoulders, and with a bellowing 5.0-litre V8 producing 454bhp, it’s not shying away from the task. Yousuf Ashraf hustles the Mach 1 around Thruxton to see just how sharp it really is.

Picking mine up in 5 days woot. Import the PP2 which is taking over my dinning room at the moment opt for the upgraded wheels and seat in fighter jet grey.
Congrats. Enjoy that V8!
To put some U.S. perspective to our British reviewer and friends...this IS👈 without question STILL👈 American muscle. It would be if at the least slightly blasphemous to compare this to Europe's best. It is amongst AMERICA'S finest with all due respect to Europe's best Marques.
It is a can of Whoop-Ass, a Quarter Horse, a 100 yard sprinter, a heavy weight champ... it represents a slight lack of polish - the guy your mother wishes you wouldn't date - the American bad-boy. But, at the end of the day, it gets the job done with a little bit of Manic and Bi-polar thrown in...in short - it makes you STILL👈 pay attention and DRIVE! This vid was fun to watch. I suggest that you all enjoy while it still exists - the times they are a'changin'....
Love your passion, sir! The Mach 1 represents a dying breed, and we like it a lot.
@@Autoexpress Thank you. I remember the original. When I was a young lad, a guy up the street had one (Blue - stock) he ran it at the local dragstrip in the summer on the weekends. He would stop by the house and brag to me as to how he did. All the while with white paint stick markings on his side window indicating his segment and times. As a 14 year old - it was verrry cool for him to stop and tell me all about it. A gr8 time for American automotives!
As a Brit, I wholeheartedly agree with your comments. The only shame is here in the UK (and Europe) the car gets saddled with an extra GPF which further muffles the glorious soundtrack. I don't believe you have the same problem across the pond. You are indeed lucky to enjoy the 'full beans' while you still can in these ever changing times. Girls like V8s too :)
Erh the Mustang actually weighs in at 1754kg compared to 1730kg for the G80 M3. So your 2 Ton claim is completly wrong.
The official EU weight of the Mustang Mach 1 is 1,851kg, so not far off two tonnes, as we said.
@@Autoexpress With 1 standard driver and full tank of gas, so without it, it's actually like 1700 kg.
Isn't the Mach 1 480 hp and not 454 as you quoted?. Even in New Zealand they are marketed at 480hp.
In the UK the Mach 1 is detuned to 454bhp. Shame!
@@Autoexpress yes the good old uk!........ To inferior to get the performance pack and extra HP!.......... AS ALWAYS!
Pick this over M4 any day
Won't be the quickest but definitely the most fun and character
Come on. M4 will destroy it in a straight line and around a track and has 10x the build quality.
@@mattyoz0 But it’s ugly as f**k, almost double the price and sounds terrible.
No where near double the price in Australia, looks are subjective and the M3/M4 doesn't sound terrible.
@@mattyoz0 M3/M4 doesn't sound terrible, i agree. But it also doesn't sound like a 5.0 litre V8 which in my view is the pinnacle of a naturally aspirated engine, unless of course it's supercharged.
@@greymark420 A Porsche gt3 has the best NA sound in my opinion. But I do respect your opinion.
This is one of the pleasures in life a 5.0 Litre V8 the sound of heaven.
I’ve seen this actual car for sale. Shouldn’t they be run gently for the first 500 miles? This looks like it’s been thrashed. Now has 20,500 miles on the clock.
Nice TAG Monaco.
Holleyhell, quit borrowing your 4yo daughters helmet and get your own... one that actually fits.
That one was a bit of a squeeze.
@@Autoexpress UA-cam REALLY needs a ROFL button.
what's with Miss High-Vis' sound??
why is she snorting & not roaring?
Oh come one Ford why do you NOT include the strut brace for UK you get so cheap taking parts out but adding price that's such a scummy move
European pedestrian collision laws
mack 1
Bugged me too. Both he and Tiff had weird pronunciations of "mock one". It's the speed of friggin' sound :)
@@BubbaSmurft I'm from New England - "Mahk wahn..."
@@audieconrad8995 Like Wahlberg huh?
@@BubbaSmurft lol...yep!🤣
For 55k there are superior cars out there
nope
People who’ve never driven a V8 on track always say what you just said. I have GT350 and it sets considerably faster lap times than my Porsche GT4. And funny how European reviewers never keep bringing up the weight of BMWs.
looks like vw golf
What? 😂
You need Glasses Pal
I own MK7 GTI. Ummmm...I don't think so...

You're right You're a lame commenter too👍
