  • You can always trust the brilliant intake engineers over at K&N Filters to design something special for your Ford truck, and the 57-Series AirCharger Air Intake Kit does not disappoint. Adding a cold-air intake is a perfect way to get some easy power and performance gains for your truck. The 57-Series intakes are up-gunned versions of K&N's more standard cold air intake kits. K&N intakes are designed to reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow, allowing your truck's engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the restrictive OEM air filter assembly. On top of their impressive power gains, this Air Intake Kit improves your truck's fuel economy and throttle response, making it one of the most effective upgrades you can do for your 5.4L V8.

Hey stage3, just installed on my 08 Expedition! Sounds great. Never understand why ford adds all that extra tubing. If I had the money I’d order your exhaust too! You guys are awesome!

So correct me if I’m wrong i’m not a mechanic but I had 5.4 on my 05 The air filter itself isn’t very significant so on my truck I cut all the compression chamber is off my tube and sealed them up To get rid of the air restriction noticed better performance in my mine not so much gas mileage but I was running big tires on my truckwith this year of truck looking at it I see no reason why you couldn’t do the same Result and still maintain your factory. filter for convenience and not have to drop a pretty penny or an aftermarket air intake

Your stock air intake will never flow like a aftermarket. There is live data comparisons done out there that show what these can do over stock. It allows a more complete air fuel mixture to give better combustion, ultimately causing more horsepower and torque as well as better fuel economy. If your stock unit could do that already, then this wouldn't exist right? To some it's worth the money as it's a few bucks every month sat aside to get, and ultimately you will see it on the Guage, and dyno if you were ever on one with it..won't be crazy, but improvement is improvement.

By doing this would it improve the MPG, worsen it?

Clearly says improves. Any time you make a motor able to breathe better is improvement.

I gather this video is 2 years old... after installing this kit, does the motor rough idle for a few minutes until it learns the new air flow? Is it recommended to disconnect battery to clear all memory and allow it to start fresh with this intake? Asking these questions because when I did this swap on my Avalanche (I know, chevys are... 'picky') it took like five minutes for the engine to "level out" if you will with all the new air flowing

Sounds logical. In the 2013 navigator manual there is a procedure for after you disconnect the battery for the idle to recalibrate and such. I was just reading it, it involved running the AC I believe.. look it up

Where are the numbers for the "impressive power gains" no dyno!? How about milage!?

Mr. Musician. The biggest gain is in sound. The engine sounds much better ( deeper ). Otherwise the fuel consumption gain is minimal, at least that's what it was on my 1998 Honda Accord after the cold air intake was installed .
Water flooded my Accord because of the filter location, but it may not be a case in Expedition. I don't know, and I won't try.
I did buy a K&N filter and installed in my 08 Expedition, and it does sound better. As far as fuel consumption, I don't think it made huge difference ( if anything at all)

Mr. Musician. Go to their website. You will get more horsepower but a little less low end torque. The air intake temperature is much lower with this system over stock.
