Carp Fishing Legend Ritchie McDonald | Korda Mindset

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- We join carp fishing legend Ritchie McDonald in session at Embryo’s Norton Disney as we take a trip down memory lane and look back at some of his most cherished fishing memories.
We delve into the mind of one of carp fishing’s most iconic figures as he talks about his life in angling and his approach and mindset to targeting big carp. Rich reflects on past captures, talking in detail of Yateley North Lake’s Basil and the tactics that led to its capture. Richie also talks about his time at Wraysbury, fishing alongside Pete Springate and how this is still one of his most cherished fishing memories.
Richie discusses the baiting approach that he places so much importance on, that he believes, catches him bigger carp.
A fascinating insight into Ritchie’s approach, that can’t not make you smile in nostalgic bliss.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who came before us. It's great to see Ritchie back and well done Korda for looking after him.

Thanks Steve.
that north lake bazil footage is extraordinary. I never knew it even existed - absolutely brilliant to see richie & rod together like that.
So good!
The godfather of carp, my hero as a mad keen teenager back in the 80s. We lost him for too long and it’s so nice to have him back. He’s living the dream and lots of us owe this guy so much.
With genius, success and fame there is often a darkness, some shine through it in time, others are devoured by it,
Ritchie has fortunately shined through, and long my he continue.
thanks to all who aided that journey.
no drones no bait boat this is carp fishing at its best love it
Thank you Danny and damo for bringing the living legend back for us ❤
💚
3:10 up to 5:50 the care taken to protect that absolute specimen is just sublime. At the 5:00 mark how he read what the fish was thinking and instinctively tried to protect it. Reminded me of my great grandfather. Take nothing but memories leave nothing but footprints. Great video. Please make more like this from the old school.
Thanks Sam, glad you enjoyed mate.
This needed to be longer. Hope there's more to come from Ritchie
More of Ritchie to come.

Never has a short video been more enjoyable than this, quality 👍🏻🎣
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the film, the footage from his capture of Bazil was a lovely touch! Fantastic angler, glad to see him back on the bank fishing. GEEZER!
Glad you enjoyed mate.
Brought back some very mixed memories. Had the absolute pleasure of knowing this guy when I was in the formative syndicate on Savay. Hutchy was on the opposite rota. An total gentleman,as well as an extraordinarily gifted angler. Whilst most of us struggled,Richie made it look easy😉 What can you say about a man who had a roll of carpet down to his rods, and fished in slippers🤣 Legend is simply too small a word. Welcome back my friend.
Had the honour of spending a couple of nights fishing with this living legend back in the early 90’s
Great filming and editing, what a legend and the film does him justice! More please Korda!
Thanks Mike.
Thanks for sharing Korda. Seeing the Yateley North lake forty on the front cover of the Angling times was the reason i wanted to chase after Carp. First time ive seen that footage also. Well in Korda.😮❤
Thanks mate.
Absolute legend god bless this man’s soul 🫡🎣🙌❤️
Great to see this. Not a spomb in sight! Good old Ritchie. 👍
Glad you enjoyed.
What a guy hope to see more from from him
Don't worry, more to come!
I'll be coming Norton Disney so I'll probably see him 😃
As someone who has only really taken to fishing over the last couple of years it’s amazing to see the insight from those who have been doing it, and doing it well, for many years before us. Whilst I’m all for learning the modern tactics (and believe me I’m trying 😂) sometimes you forget the basics and listening to Richie really does open your eyes. We’re quick to dismiss the old hats because things change and move on but you’d be a fool to not listen to experience.
True words 🙏🏻
Thank you very much for sharing a slice of life of this highly respectable man.
Glad you enjoyed Philippe.
Along with Hutchie, Richie guided me into carp fishing. We all should salute him and others that pioneered modern carp fishing.

More Korda from this man . All I’m hearing is good things. Brilliant work
One word needed ,,,,
LEGEND
For me it was Mr yates who inspired me to become a carp angler but for many it was this man a absolute legend of the sport.
Met him down norton 2 years ago. Legend
What a guy.
13:06 Thanks for sharing some insight to your angling Ritchie absolutely splendid, thanks
Thank you Charlie.
Storytelling at it's best. love the way it's filmed with an old school glass look.
Excellent! Must dust the book off..
Awsome film.. i sometimes like a tight baitin spot with catapult but also like throwin stick. 🎣 nice fish
What an amazing movie 😳 well done everyone
Thank you.
Met Richie and Rod at a CAA meeting in Bristol way back in around 1985 , proper characters and great Anglers , great memories.

Hope you enjoyed mate.
Thank you for letting me see this video :) ❤
Great video! When will we get that 1 hour video Ritchie mentioned? 👀
👀 More of Ritchie to come ...
They say don’t meet your heroes, I met Richie at a carp society show and he was everything I expected and more.
Ell yeah this guy is amazing keep him 🎉
The OG.
Un saluto dal Italia. Grazie x trasmettere una leggenda come mcdonald ❤ il carpfishing è uno stile di vita se non si pratica non si vive.
Kord's got some talented lads no doubt they could out fish most people but like a Tesla can out perform most cars there's more to driving than just speed. Ritchie brings carp fishing soul to a brand that can be lacking in the pursuit of catching above all else.
Very inspiring video Richie really enjoyed it 👍
Proper insight well done 👏
All carp anglers can learn from this man ......absolute legend...this man and his captures and righting got me into carp fishing in the 80s
You must ask him to do another video on his fishing on Savay ....mind blowing
Thank you all at Korda for Helping Richie 🙏
Soooo good to see him fishing again 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks mate 💚
Disappointingly short video of an absolute legend
Hopefully you still enjoyed ... 😇
This dude reminds me of a bailiff at my local 🤣 legend

Legend
Always remember Yates saying that carbon rods loose some of the connection to the environment. At the time I didn't rate it but as we AstroTurf swims, dye water blue to kill weed and cover ourselves with synthetic materials and even use plastic bait I totally see what he was getting at. So many waters are little more than swimming pools with synthetic carp being prioritized over a natural balance and anglers don't even have a clue as to the singular moments, where for a fleeting second there is nothing else.
Part of the reason I began to feel disconnected from Carp fishing. I grew up fishing ponds, then little lakes, then Linear and Linch Hill, in the 90's by then. Untouched, yet to be heavily commercialised. It was wonderful. Most places have become spoiled, over-run, 'fish by numbers'. I finally Carp fished a bit again last year. 5-6 different farm ponds. Only freelined and stalked, like being a kid again. Caught plenty by watching, using stealth, old fashioned watercraft.
Old school ❤
Pozdrawiam z Katowic i Życzę Dużo Zdrowia . Połamania
