@@jonniesantos I never carry a lot of cash, I would assume a glance at your balance on your phone would suffice. But I have never been asked. They do not give an explanation of how to prove funds either. But with the pick pocketing being so rampant, I wouldn't carry a ton of cash.
We have a Spanish bank account and had to send over our proof of income from the UK or they would limit our use of it. Not sure why but we complied. Perhaps it’s because we use it to pay our holiday home expenses there.
I applaud these measures. It’s very comforting to know that there is data on fellow travelers and more importantly Spain will greatly reduce the number of homeless in tourist spots. Tourists will have to be self -sustaining. I think Spain is very forward thinking.
@TravelAddictGuy I think he is referring to the part at the end of the video, I had mentioned about the 2022 law where you must prove you have a114 euro a day to enter Spain.
@@TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel Many backpackers visit Spain on less than 114 Euros per day. Does Spain want rich tourists only now? What about college backpackers?
@TravelAddictGuy I have read in the papers in Spain that some in the tourism industry are pushing for, as they say it " quality over quantity " tourists. We'll see how that works out. But yeah, it will definitely make it difficult for the backpackers, good point.
Great question. I do not know the answer, my guess would be that this new rule might not apply to people visiting friends, only people staying on the economy.
If a family member is coming to someones house in Spain you now have to go the police station and inform them get a permission form filled out send it to the people in the UK who are coming and they have to bring it with them this is crazy and it's unlikely you'll get asked but this is the correct way and you could get stopped at the airport plus proof of spending money per person . 😠😠👍🏴🦊 They call it a invitation letter or police certificate.
@@kathleenirvine8360 No worries I live in Spain and this is correct but I would say it's unlikely to be stopped but if you were they could refuse entry the world's gone mad Tek care 👍🏴🦊

Thank you for the information!
Good to know… thanks for sharing.
good idea.
Do you have keep 113€ in your wallet as proof of finance, or show them your balance in your bank account on your phone? Thanks for today’s video.

I've never been asked to show proof of funds, but I have to give over passport info at hotels

I had to do the same when opening my account in Spain at the bank. But I have never been asked at the border crossing.

Great points. I never thought of the homeless issue.
I don't see how this does anything for homeless people. It just collects more data from tourists.

What happens if you are staying with friends in their house?

Spain used to be a bastion of freedom. What happened?
It seems to be the trend from private companies to governments. They all want more of our data.
