Dr. Arfa Zehra is a Professor of History at Forman Christian College, and also teaches at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. She has served as Principle for both the Government College for Women in Gulburg, and Lahore College for Women. She was also a Fellow at the East and West Centre. Dr. Arfa has an MA in Urdu as well as History, and despite having a PhD in History from the University of Hawaii, maintains that she is to date 'a student of history'. She is a person of tremendous energy and commitment, who practices and urges her students to use their own intelligence to formulate their own rational opinions.
As Chairman of the National Commission for Women and member of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Arfa is at the heart of the socio-political structure that moulds women empowerment in Pakistan. And with her intellect and experience she rises to the occasion without doubt.
I was so surprised to see her today , in 1975 I was her student in Lahore college for women she studied Urdu advance .I married in 1977& came England after 45 years I saw her today . She was amazing . May Allah give her good health . I really cried today & missed her 🙏😢
My situation is similar to U but luckily I know Her since my college Days in Lahore college &she was senior to me by two years.Very good Memories of Mid 60zI Remember Her Gole Mole.Bubly &Highly confident person &powerful Debater .In 1970 got married &moved to uk &after 4/12 years moved to USA &still Living 😅.Now senior citizen.I saw her on UTube first time after 54 years .since my college days .what aTime &Thanks to the Technology.I felt as I M in the college &listening to Her any Debate .Just Beautiful Moment.

She talks to the soul. She says things what your soul feels. She is bold enough to say it all whatever actually everyone thinks and know in their hearts is right but they choose to pick greed and say otherwise. She transcends life and its true meaning. She defines true patriotism.

Ma'am,
Mother tongue of people in Punjab is Punjabi, mother tongue of people in Sindh is Sindhi and so on.
Urdu belongs to environs of Delhi and later, Deccan.
In Punjab and Sindh, only 5-10% Muslims from Ashraf communities trace their origin outside the sub continent beginning with Turkish conquests or trading communities on the Western Coast of India. Most of the Ashraf and Upper Caste Muslims are either Rajputs or Jaats and allied Landowning communities.
In 19th century, Urdu was understood by populace of Urban Punjab making British to introduce Urdu as medium of formal education. Probably, something similar happened in Sindh under the British.
However, decision to introduce Urdu in East Pak was a Blunder.
